Platinum Games Next Title Is Max Anarchy

By Spencer . January 25, 2011 . 5:48pm

imageAtsushi Inaba, producer on Madworld and more recently Vanquish, already has another game in the pipeline. Famitsu has the scoop on Max Anarchy, Platinum Games’ next project.

This title is a melee action game with lots of other players. Maybe a multiplayer brawler would be the best way to describe it? Max Anarchy has online play, which Inaba said in an interview has been difficult to synchronize because this kind of genre hasn’t been invented yet. In addition to online play, Max Anarchy has a single player story mode to complete.

Remember Jack from Madworld? He makes a cameo in Max Anarchy.

Max Anarchy is in development for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Sega plans on publishing the game this year in Japan.

I want more games like Okami.:(

    • Well if they didnt decide to release games like Okami at terrible times and blames it lack of success due to the launch of systems, then maybe we would have more. Wait…youre getting Okamiden, why the complaining dude?! Be happy and enjoy it, lol.

      • badmoogle

I meant i want more games LIKE Okami which means games that share the same values but not the exact same concept.
Still i’ll probably get Okamiden even though it’s not developed by Platinum.

  • joesz

I hate it when these kind of news are vague

    • Vague news is better than no news dude, look on the brightside, new game announcement means an epic trailer is coming!

  • Code

rarrr, did someone say God Hand Online!?

    • kupomogli

IGN will probably give it a rating of 3/10, yet those who play it will think it’s the best game ever :P. That’s if it’s like God Hand. I don’t own a Wii so I’ve never played Madworld.

Sega really needs to get the Fist of the North Star license. A God Hand like Fist of the North Star would be one of the best games ever, no contest.

      • Meh, you can’t spell Ignorant without IGN.

On the other hand, God Hand Fist of The North Star would be GOTY indeed. Sadly, not that many people will be able to appreciate it

        • SeventhEvening

God Hand of the North Star?

      • AaqibRawat

I hate IGN so much for there review on Godhand !
Im so glad there are people who share my opinion.
IGN = children who review video games

        This game looks epic

Currently playing Godhand On Godhand mode so this is going to be a day 1 for me.

i also agree with Ashgail ”people are like who is ken?”

Although if they made a fist of the north star game it would fantastic but would it still have the humour ?

  • More MadWorld anything is fine by me.

  • Awww dude, this is going to be so awesome. It looks EPIC, like every other Platinum games games. Day one baby, day one!

    • Ren

Are you related to Trist(goes by Tsunayoshi Sawada on here) by any chance? Not that I don’t agree with you.

      • vadde939

Trist? Is that some other username or do you actually know Tsuna in real life? O_O

        • The user name he uses for his blog is “tristtrist”

          • vadde939

            Ah ok I was worried for a sec there -_-;

          • Ren

I think it’s from Tristan. Could be wrong though, not that I care.

        • Ren

I just call him that because I’m easy to confuse, and I don’t want to associate him and the character. It would make for awkward times when my friend decided to bother me with KHR gelbooru or with the homoerotic parts of the manga, and I like the character, so associating it with Trist is a no no.

      • I’m just trying to mimic him.

I really am excited about the game though. I bought every Platinum games game, and almost every game from Clover studios. I loved every game they made so far. Shinji Mikami and Hideki Kamiya are pretty much my heroes.

  • raymk

That’s what i’m talking about, Its about time somebody got to this, this is going to be awesome.

  • Eh, sounds cool as long as online isn’t the focus

  • PrinceHeir

    God Hand multiplayer FTW :D

imagine Jack from Madworld alongside Gene from God Hand, Kenshiro Fist of the North Stars to add some spice put Bayonetta along with it. that’s probably one of the craziest crossover characters ever :P

not to mention i just bought God Hand alongside Megaman X Collection Today, will be getting it first week of febuary. cannot wait :)

    • puchinri

      I want that so bad now. ;u;

(I still need to buy a copy of God Hand myself.)

      • PrinceHeir

well you can still get them at amazon(i bought them there). Megaman X Collection is at $19.99 direct from amazon, same as God Hand except i bought God Hand from Seller “Big Game Vendor” since he has Amazon fulfillment with a 100% rating ^^

        • puchinri

          I actually just bought a lot of games on Amazon (mostly for PS2), so I almost got God Hand, but I didn’t have enough. ;u;
But I’ll definitely get it next time~!

          • PrinceHeir

            definitely :D

actually i’ve been buying lot’s of PS2 games lately, guess i’ve missed tons of gems last gen ^^

          • puchinri

Yeah, same here, haha. (I’ve even had to go back and get a PS1 game or two.)

  • Tokyo Guy

Alas any hope of a sequel to Vanquish seems to be lost…

    • Seems like it. Do they often make sequels to their games?

      • Nope. All their games so far were single. Though the idea that Vanquish was a template for a multiplayer game had us assume it’s a Vanquish 2.

        • Tokyo Guy

Indeed. I would love to have a Lost Planet 2-style Vanquish 2.

          • Something like that might be PS3 exclusive on a God of War level……I like it. :D

          • thebanditking

Not sure I follow what you mean here? LP2 was not such a massive under taking that it was impossible on both platforms.

      • Tokyo Guy

Well they only have like 3 games to begin with mind you. And for the longest time Treasure didn’t make sequels but suddenly had a change of heart and started churning out “quality” follow-ups.

Vanquish was far too short IMHO and therefore needs a second part. Or else DLC with another 2 missions or something.

      • AaqibRawat

        what about Bayonetta 2 ?
i swear there was a article about it or intrest in a sequel.

    • SeventhEvening

I don’t think hope is lost, it just means that Vanquish 2 isn’t their next title. Kamiya’s commented that he would love to do a Bayonetta sequel, so they may revist them later.

  • puchinri

Sounds fun. But it’s a Platinum game, so I’m expecting fun~.
Didn’t their contract or whatever with Sega end recently? Does this mean they renewed it or Sega’s still just publishing for them anyway? Or is my mind skipping to the future…?

    • SeventhEvening

The contract was for 4 games: Bayonnetta, Vanquish, Madworld, Infinite Space. To my knowledge, they haven’t signed a new contract, but I’ve heard that they’ve been fairly happy with Sega, so I’d assume they’re just stick with them.

      • puchinri

Ah, I thought it was for three, I forgot about Vanquish being in there. I did hear that Sega was treating them well/they’re happy with them. That’s nice to know. (I hope things remain good between them too.)

  • capristrider

Great news! like a lot of readers here I’m a big fan of PlatinumGames! Looking at the famitsu scan screenshot it reminds me of Power Stone for some reason, the only multiplayer beat ’em up I can think of besides Smash Bros.
I do hope one day they consider Vanquish sequel or at least some DLC and maybe MadWorld for PS3/X360?

  • Looks to me like it’s enchanced version of Sega’s Spikeout series. Which is a very good thing as I’ve always wanted to play a (*good) version of that game.

    *The Xbox version was terrible

    • thebanditking

I would love to see a Spike out revival, that one one the Dreamcast (that we never got) looked awesome and despite the terrible Xbox game I would love to see more games in that genre.

  • It’s a shame they don’t have the license to put Gene, Viewtiful Joe, and the rest of their previous creations in the game.

Personally, I’d like to see Gideon and Bayonetta show up too. As for the guy from Madworld, I’d be more excited if I had actually played the game. If you’re going to make this PS3/360 only, maybe a Madworld port for those two systems is in order, otherwise, he’s just another character to us.
