An Animated Look At Akiba’s Trip

By Spencer . January 28, 2011 . 4:31pm

The concept for Acquire’s action-adventure game Akiba’s Trip is real life Akihabara meets vampires leads to an impossible battle. In this PSP game you’ll walk past familiar stores and locations from Tokyo’s electric town. The only difference is you’ll run into vampires who walk freely in the city. The main character has a scuffle with a bloodsucker and is saved by a young girl.

Acquire’s Way of the Samurai team is developing the game’s combat system, which has players use sunlight to defeat the Kageyushi. The game is slated for release on April 14 in Japan.

  • Looks pretty sweet :D

    • Darkrise

You know you want to, Aksys. =D

  • Tom_Phoenix

Is it just me or does Akihabara seem to be a really popular setting among Japanese game developers?

Also, I find it kind of awkward that they highlighted the letter “S”. I accidentally ended up reading it as “Akiba Strip”…

It’s actually a shame this game isn’t on the DS. If it were, they could have done what Kojima did with “Boktai: The Sun Is In Your Hand” and placed a light sensor on the cartridge in order to recharge your weapons with sunlight.

    • Ragnika

I think it’s intentional, they want curious ppl who misread the title to pick it up.

Akihabara is the center for anime/manga/game culture in Tokyo. They probably think the target demographics can relate with the place more.

    • Zero_Destiny

Seeing as the guy ripped the clothes off of the girl, I think Akiba Strip wouldn’t be too far off. lol I kid I kid. The Boktai thing never worked anyways, I always played it indoors and then there was the “rumor” that certain lightbulbs would fill up your gauge. Not sure if it was true but was able to get far and never play it outside. But new innovations to play games are certainly welcomed in my book.

Well, it seems that you’ll be going around Akihabara stripping vampires. That’s what I got out of the clip, anyway. Thus: Akiba’s Trip through Akiba (popular shortened name of Akihabara) Stripping vampires.

Japan thrives on puns/malapropisms, as do I. <3

    • Is because akibahara is where there are more “young people” and “otakus” in japan, and of course, it makes akibahara really attractive, making the game more attractive too

  • now where is my credit card

  • kroufonz

is this still have chance to be localized, acquire game rarely localized this gen(no one localize (no one localize Ken to Mahou to Gakuen Mono 2G, 3 )

and ClariS sang the theme song in the PV, i love that anonymous junior high duo (after their oreimo debut and madoka)

    • PersonaBull

I can’t wait for the full Madoka OP song to come out in about a week. That song was amazing. I can’t believe how young that duo is after hearing their music. I didn’t realize it was ClariS in that clip. Glad they’re getting so much air time! I’d say those two have a pretty bright future if they choose it.

    • tr1gun1212

The voice is so mature for being so young. I was really surprised to learn their age after having heard the Oreimo OP.

    • Kai2591

Didn’t know they were anon junior high duo…

  • PrinceHeir

    yay more stripping :D

let’s see some gameplay footage :P

  • Darkrise

I don’t even know if it’s Akiba’s Trip or Akiba Strip anymore! DX I’d like to think of it as Trip but after see the main tear off the girl’s(vampire?) shirt, Strip just popped up in my head and I couldn’t help but laugh. Still, this is just one of those games that caught my interest this year and I’d really love it if someone would just localize this. =P

    • KotaroInugami

Wait… So it’s not Akiba Strip? XD

    • One of the stereotypes in anime:

      Guy accidentally strips girl’s clothes.
      Girl goes “Nyaaa~ <3"

      • Zero_Destiny

And the fanboys eat it up fufufufufu

    • I guess is pretty clear it is Strip >;D

  • Kai2591

    I want.

  • Kai2591

lol might as well make an anime of it

  • Haha don’t know why this reminds me of the vampires in Gantz
