G. Rev’s has been working on a 1980′s style robot shooter. First announced for Xbox Live Arcade, Seisou Kouki Strania will also be in Japanese arcades. Cabinets equipped with Taito’s NESiCAxLive system will be able to download the game.

Strania, as it will be called in the West, will be available in arcades and Xbox Live this spring. If you didn’t catch that – yes, Strania will be released worldwide. G. Rev says the late 80s and 90s were the golden age of arcade games and Strania will be a throwback to those times.

Looks so soooooo hot. Under Defeat XBLA next plz!

    • Aoshi00

Want that too.. heard the Radiant Silvergun stick got canned though, too expensive I guess..

      • neo_firenze

Seeing as how it’s the same stick as the RAP EX-SE with only aesthetic differences, I don’t see how the RSG model justified the massively increased price they were asking. I get that there’s a premium for fans of the series or being a special variant, but I don’t get THAT much of a premium. Looks like I wasn’t alone.

        • Aoshi00

Yea, that’s what I thought too, most shmup fans alrdy have some HRAPs alrdy, it’s definitely hard to justify getting another same stick w/ only different artwork. The twin stick for Virtual On was expensive too but it was unique, but it only lets you play just that, Virtual On, so unless you’re a huge Virtual On fan, it’s hard to spend money on that too.

It’s also not too hard to buy a plexiglass top sized for a hrap from an online seller, then go to staples and print out your own custom artwork for it… just sayin’

As far as this game goes I’m looking more forward to it and a possible Under Defeat release than Radiant Silvergun which I played to death years ago, and frankly got tired of.

        • Aoshi00

I know, I alrdy have a HRAP EX-SE, but I’m not good at custom modding or getting people to do it (I like things fty made), just the Radiant Silvergun artwork is not worth it. I have never played Under Defeat on Dreamcast yet, so would like to play it on day on XBLA.

          • mikanko

Honestly, modding a hrap if you just want artwork is beyond easy. You really don’t need anything other than buying the plexiglass from someone already cut(there are a couple different people who do it and sell it sized for Madcatz TE sticks or Hraps, usually found on fighting game forums), a screwdriver, and get the art printed at a place like staples. There’s also someone I believe on shoryuken.com who sells printed artwork on an adhesive material if you don’t want to add a plexi top.

There is no real wiring as hraps come with disconnects, and are as simple as opening the stick up, unplugging things, and then plugging them back in. The same goes for replacing the buttons when the buttons do eventually wear out (Seimitsu don’t last quite as long as Sanwa buttons)

The only tool you will need is a screwdriver. Plus the only Hrap I’ve owned came with that annoying plastic film on the top, and I had to open it up and take out the buttons to remove all the plastic anyways. They’re pretty user friendly.

I’ve been waiting for that game since 2007 or so, at this point I think it’s just not coming out anymore.

      Oh well, Radiant Silvergun, please.

I was told by G.rev that they would love to port Border Down and Under Defeat to XBLA. So they probally will be released at some point in the next year or so.

  • xxx128

Am i the only one who finds “2d” shooters with razorsharp polygons extremely ugly? I mean come on, if you already aim to capture the love and spirit of the old school arcade titles do it with a little style plz.

    • godmars

Would rather see someone put an effort into sprites.

Also not liking these bullet hell games on disc.

  • Guest

    That’s 80′s style??

    • http://whatistheexcel.com/ Excel-2012

      Aesthetically.

I communicate with G.rev and was told the game will be released in the next month on XBLA. With a hint that said it would be sooner rather then later.

I’m curious, what’s your tie to G,Rev >o>? rar, I’m a huge Senko/DUO fanand have always been curious about any plans for the series >w<' especially for DUO's remaining DLC.

  • PrinceHeir

oh well maybe i’ll wait another 5 years for games like these to be released in either PSN or Wii.

if they want to bring the glory days of arcades companies like Konami should re-release their beatmania games, guitar freaks and Dance Dance Revolution. i would take that instead of the crap that is guitar hero and rock band.
