  • Ereek

Wait, you mean Miranda from Mass Effect 2?

Not that she’s a bad actress, but I’m never going to be able to hear anyone but Miranda.

    • endaround

Well is she doing this in her native accent of her American accent?

      • Ereek

Well, Aya is American so I’d assume SE would try to cast a neutral (“standard”) American accent. But you can still hear the voice around the accent.

        • Nyet, she vill speak in Russian.

    • *Nods*

Yep, she’s Miranda from the Mass Effect games.

      • Guest

Does here ass really look like that? I never watch Chuck

  • Sounds like something she was paid to say, refuse to believe that she’s actually played the game

    • keriaku

I don’t think she necessarily needs to play the game to know and understand the character she’s playing.

      • I do.

        • Ereek

Ever act in a play? You don’t need to read and memorize the entire script in order to understand your character’s motivations and personality.

          • SigmenddArthur

“…I don’t read the script – the script reads me.”

+5 if you know where that’s from. Tsunayoshi Sawada….don’t even bother. Save yourself the embarrassment. >_>

          • papuruka

oh mai, Tropic Thunder reference :3 uguu~

    • It’s not like every game with great voice acting has all the voice actors play the game. The people who voice acted Metal Gear Solid didn’t, save for the actors for Snake and Otacon. Yet no one complains about that game.

      • Happy Gamer

actually i saw his interviews he finished 2nd game (can’t remember 3) but he at the time of the interview did not play 4.
David Hayter is one of the few people I know who voice acts and actually plays the game.

        • Yeah, something like that. But most of the other cast members either didn’t finish the game, or didn’t play it at all. But no one’s being all bleeehhh about that game lol.

          • Aoshi00

Most VAs are too busy to actually play the games they act in since they have other roles to play as a job. Chances are most of them are not good gamers anyway, unless it’s their hobby.

I heard some actors don’t even like watching their own movies, which I find a little bit extreme.. because a movie is only 2 hours at least not as long as finishing a game in its entirely which could take dozens of hours.

          • Yeah, I understand. But that just supports my point that voice actors or actors really don’t need to play or undertake some sort of research in the source material in order to be good at it haha.

          • Aoshi00

Right, I know what you mean too. It’d be nice if some dedicated actors take extra time to do research to prepare for a role they’re playing, but chances are time just doesn’t allow them to do that as they have one job lining up after another, playing games needs one to invest a lot of time, even I find increasingly hard to do now as I get older. Like Mass Effect 2, it’s probably just a fun role for Martin Sheen, but he did a heck of a good job, I kept thinking of his younger narration in Apocalypse Now :). It would be even harder if they’re not great at shooters and such, which I doubt they are. Not to mention 3rd Birthday is actually a very challenging game, probably too demanding for causal gamers.

I don’t know why some actors would never watch the movies they are in though, that I find kind of strange..

    • Icon

Why do you care if she played the game? I care if she puts it in a good performance.

    • YoFace

Charles Martinet admitted to never playing the Mario games when they came out. And look at how well that turned out.

    • Women game also…

  • OH SNAPS SARAH WALKER!!!!!!!!1 BUYING on day 1 confirmed, well I was already going to be there on day 1, but my favorite show ever (well apart from 24, with Chloe and Jack Bauer), but Chuck, Sarah, awesome awesome awesome news!!!!! Literally, awesome!!! Day 1 needs to hurry!!! (no wonder I always put Miranda in my party for Mass Effect 2, lol, Miranda and Kasumi with female Shepard)

    • Guest

Wow what a relief I thought you were gonna buy it day two or something…

      • Testsubject909

What you should be worried about is him buying it Day -1.

So excited about buying it. Tsuna and his blackhole of a wallet break the laws of physics and times, traverses backward to the future to purchase the game prior to anyone else a day earlier and plays it before he even purchases it and owns it on day 1…

        • Zero_Destiny

CURSE YOUR WALLET SAWADA!!!!! How dare you break all rules and go the taboo route of Day -1!!!!

    • Zero_Destiny

Than why didn’t you name yourself after that show instead of Katekyo Hitman Reborn! ?

      • It would be odd to use an avy of a live actor, lol. Plus there is so much epic artwork for Tsuna and he sometimes reminds me of my self and I happened to fall in love with the series, hm, around the time I changed names from my amalgamated form.

        • Zero_Destiny

I remember your old name it certainly was weird to see lol I like you better as Sawada since Katekyo Hitman Reborn! was one of my fav anime and is one of my fav magnas lol I guess real life people as an avatar would be a little weird.

          • Well, there’s the commenter with the name and avatar of Yusaku Matsuda.

  • OneOkami

“Like Square Enix’s other PSP games, The 3rd Birthday is just $29.99.”

Eh? Take a look at Tactics Ogre: The Us Cling Together then get back to me.

    • PurpleDoom

Yeah, that seemed like an odd comment to me as well. The only Square-Enix PSP games so far I’ve seen priced at $29.99 have been this, Dissidia Duodecim, and FFIV Complete… maybe it’s a trend they’re starting with Duodecim? Seems wise, with the incoming NGP.

      • Still, aren’t most SE games before now 39.99? I’m still grateful for all these games being 10 dollars less…

    • Lord of Arcana and Tactics Ogre are their last two games at 29.99, I guess they came out before company policy took effect, lol.

      3rd Bday
      Dissidia Duodecim

  • Code

For all of 2 seconds I thought you meant Chuck Greene xpx; Don’t scare me like that Spencer >w<

    • Chuck Norris?

      • So you want a manly Aya eh.

        • Haha, i just had to say it xD, i cant think of the word “Chuck” without a Norris after it xD

  • Alright DEAN WINCHESTER!. That is awesome!. Supernatural is the last great show on TV anymore..

  • =D preordered both the 3rd birthday and tactis orge from zavvi for £20 each. WEEEEE

    • SERIOUSLY???

      *runs off to zavvi*

      • Ahhh wait it’s because I used a discount code. I got a spare 15% discount code if you want it. I sent you a personal message through myfigurecollection (registered since i have no way to contact you). Going to sleep

  • Barrit

What?? Why does Europe only get the Twisted edition?!

    • Hraesvelgr

Why not? Europe usually ends up getting screwed in even just getting the games, I say let them have a few exclusive things.

      • Barrit

I didn’t say we should have it exclusively, just why can’t we get it too? Come on, sharing is caring.

        • Trade it for NISA’s Ar Tonelico III LE + Calendar

          Edit: Sorry, confused the games

      • Icon

Maybe if you guys spoke one language, you’d get more games! (kidding)

        • Mischah

You’re actually right in a way. I’m a Dutchman. All of our (‘our’ referring to the entire Dutch populace) games are in English. We watch all of our series with subtitles. It’s the (‘kut’) Germans, French, Italians and Spanish that demand translations. They’re screwing the English, the Dutch and the Belgians by clinging on to their language.
I had to import Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals! (Too bad it was a bit of a disappointment). I can’t buy Arc Rise Fantasia! Europe is absolutely not better of than the US. (Japan, however, is)

      • SigmenddArthur

I’m tired of reading this. For the past ten years, Europe got pretty much everything the US got. And them some.

When did we get Last Window? Or the original Oneechanbara games?

So no, I’m tired of seeing this crap. As it stands, Europe is BETTER OFF than the US.

Thanks to Square USA’s complete, utter jackassery.

        • Barrit

Your comment narrows it down to what it really is. SE USA just sucks as you said with the special editions. I know 3 of them were all pretty recent announcements for the UK. They got a special edition to SE’s Lord of Arcana, The 3rd Birthday, and they are getting a Legacy edition for Dissidia 2. Hmm I’m considering just buying the UK version of 3rd Birthday and Dissidia, but isn’t Dissidia suppose to have other DLC? I rather buy from the US PSN… grr, hard call.

        • For the last 10 years?!

          No way in hell.

The last 3 years, and that being optimistic. And even there the advantage is very little.

Most JRPGs during the PS2 generation DID NOT arrive to Europe, when the US got a lot more.

We didn’t get the “Xenosaga” games, many of the “Shin Megami Tensei” and the only “Tales of” that arrived here was “Symphonia”.

And even there, most of the games that arrived to both territories where in the US a lot sooner than in Europe.

Things started changing around 2007, but we still have long ways to go.

      • The latest SE PSP games have a special edition for Europe only since Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep.

  • Hraesvelgr

Huh, those are some unexpected choices. Don’t necessarily mean that as a bad thing, but I would’ve expected the usual “cheaper” VAs, given that this is one of Square Enix’s “lower-end” (aka non-FF/KH) titles.

  • karasuKumo

I’m loving the familiar voices, I like their characters in Supernatural and Chuck so I’m happy about this :). I’m not too sure if that Twisted edition is worth it but if Zavvi keep their price low I’ll get it. SE art-books aren’t usually good.

  • badmoogle

I swear to God i haven’t seen any other game promoted as much as the 3rd Birthday in this site…

    • the last story?

      • badmoogle

Last Story also had quite a lot of promotion but it doesn’t even come close to the promotion the 3rd birthday is receiving.
I don’t know personally all this plugging has more of a negative effect than a positive one.At least for me.

        • Well, there isnt much to be said about it now, once it get released, is bye bye :P

  • Aiddon

Yvonne, I absolutely adore you. You’re a good actress and I adored you as Miranda in ME2, but don’t lie just for the sake of your employers. Seriously, I’ve SEEN this game’s plot and it is utter garbage. Even if it wasn’t completely trashing the series’ canon, it’s still a bad narrative brought down by bad, overly earnest dialogue and some really, REALLY stupid “twists” that are really a slap in the face. It’s just the crowning achievement in showing how utterly lacking in talent Toriyama is.

As for Ackles, I’ve never seen Supernatural, so I’m pretty much just neutral. But again, too bad that he has to be doing a voice in a bad game with an even worse storyline

    • Aoshi00

I wonder if Yvonne was asked to do the suggestive moans like Sakamoto Maaya, she even moans when checking out lockers or items laying around :(…

It’s pretty cool they’re going w/ great actors though, regardless of how one feels about their games, S-E pulls out all the stops when it comes to US localization like FF12/13.

      • Aiddon

dear GOD, now that’s an idea that makes me shudder. The thing about the actors is that it breaks my heart that they’re wasting their time with a game that has a REALLY bad storyline. Square (or more specifically Toriyama) couldn’t even get Aya’s birthday right.

    • Billy Añonuevo

Jensen Ackles was in Batman: Under The Red Hood and I thought he did a pretty fine job as Jason Todd/Red Hood.

  • OMG?!!! You serious?? O.O?!!

Jensen ackles actor of Supernatural, Dean Winchester… VA In parasite eve? For real.. ??!! Wow… This is another reason for a must buy for me…

Really can’t believe it.. Jensen ackles.. VA for SE game… Parasite eve.. Just wow…

  • cmurph666

*Shower scene, Shower scene, Shower scene, Shower scene, Shower scene, Shower scene, Shower scene, Shower scene, Shower scene, Shower scene, Shower scene, Shower scene…*

    • Testsubject909

I can see the puffing, huffing, wheezing, salivating and the desire to bring the shower scene home to dissect and discover it’s powers with your 1.8+ million E.Q.

  • Testsubject909

Why does Kyle Madigan remind me of Doctor Who?

    • Are you thinking of Kylie Minogue, who was in the Christmas special “Voyage of the Damned?”

      • What? Are you implying that Testsubject909 thinks Kyle as a woman?

    • The coat maybe?

  • WonderSteve

Would someone kindly enlighten me how to import PSP games from Europe to US/Canada?

  • Nyron

Sounds like a waste of money just so SE can continue to wank itself off as something special
they know very well that they could’ve hired seasoned VAs who actually know how to handle silly Japanese characters and plotlines instead of two screen actors who most likely scratched their heads after every line

  • PrinceHeir

i wonder if her voice will be deep or Miranda-sound like.

damn it Europe for getting that tasty Artbook X_X

finally it’s coming out, will be buying it Day 1 for sure.

now announce Deus Ex HR and the western release of Type-0 Square and your set for the year :P

  • I love the cast choices for those two! I’ll be interested to hear how Yvonne does with Aya, since Aya’s voice was (surprisingly) soft in the game.

    • Zidane: “Ooo, soft…”

  • Guest

ignore this post, replying to a person comment using a phone really suck.

  • mikedo2007

Oh. man this is going to be great.

  • Why?!?!?! Why March of all times?!?!?! My body is not ready.

  • I doubt I’ll be able to get this edition, although I want it so bad =[

  • ugh I refuse to Acknowledge this game. It ruined one of my fave franchises.

    Sad I imported this.

    • Aiddon

I hear ya, the storyline is depressingly bad. This is what you get when you let a melodrama writer like Toriyama do the script for a very mature, intelligent, nuanced series. Seriously, I don’t think Toriyama is capable of writing anything other than scenery-chewing cartoon characters.

  • Tokyo Guy

It’s funny how Europe is getting all the LE items from SquareEnix and North America isn’t.

  • Yeah, if you beat it 100+ times you’ll get Aya’s shower scenes in mutiple angles.
