SNK Arcade Classics 0 Lives, Brings Athena And Ikari Warriors To PSP

By Spencer . February 1, 2011 . 12:47am

Way back in 2009, we discovered SNK was working on SNK Arcade Classics 0, a library of ’80s arcade games for PlayStation 2 and PSP. The funny thing is SNK never mentioned the game officially… until now. SNK Arcade Classics 0 resurfaced for PSP and it has a release date, April 21 in Japan.

Here’s a list of the twenty games in SNK Arcade Classics 0:

Athena series

Psycho Soldier

Ikari series

Ikari Warriors
Ikari III: The Rescue (overseas version)

Guerrilla War
Marvin’s Maze
Search and Rescue
Street Smart

Gold Medalist
Super Championship Baseball (overseas version)
Touchdown Fever

Bermuda Triangle
HAL 21
Prehistoric Isle in 1930
Sasuke vs. Commander
Vanguard 2

New features include a gallery mode with illustrations and background music to play. While SNK Arcade Classics 0 has not been officially announced in the West, SNK Playmore USA released Metal Slug XX and NeoGeo Ultimate Shooting as downloadable PSP imports. We’re betting they’re going to do the same thing with SNK Arcade Classics 0.

  • Jesus… Pehistoric Isle in 1930 !!! That game is awesome :´D. Too bad that Prehistoric Isle was horrible.

  • Hopefully this’ll get a PSN release for US and EU…

  • PrinceHeir

    nice :)

though please SNK release KOF XIII on consoles, KOF 2002 UM and Neo Geo BC on PSN, one last KOF Dream Match and Capcom vs Snk 3. i would be soooo happy :P

  • Come on retail disc release (prays).

It’s definitely getting a retail UMD release in Japan, and PSP games don’t have region protection. You don’t need any Japanese language skills to play any of these games. Pretty easy import if you’re interested in getting it in physical format.

Of course, if you’re interested in getting the “NGP”, buying a digital version seems like it will allow you to play on that system as well. UMD ties you to the original PSP.

  • Victory Road (Dogosoken) was about the only thing I played in an arcade one summer. It’d be nice to have that, but I wish they were still doing a PS2 version- the right analog stick would make a nice replacement for the rotating joystick you used to aim.
