Square Enix’s Take On Puzzle Quest Gyromancer Getting Sequel, Gyrozetter?

By Spencer . February 8, 2011 . 7:40pm

gyromancerBack in 2009, Square Enix and casual game makers PopCap worked together to create Gyromancer, a Puzzle Quest style game made with Bejeweled Twist’s backbone. Initial discussions started over casual drinks and ever since then the two companies have been working together.

While Square Enix have not announced any PopCap projects in North America, they published Bejeweled Blitz for DSiWare in Japan just a few months ago.

Perhaps, a game titled Gyrozetter is simmering? Square Enix filed a trademark for Gyrozetter (in Japanese and English) with the Japanese trademark database.

Square Enix also registered Ultimate Job System which piqued my interest. As a standalone game Ultimate Job System would be an odd name, but as a subtitle it could fit just like how Complete Collection works with Final Fantasy IV in Japan. Final Fantasy V: Ultimate Job System?

  • Puzzle Quest is epic, I never heard about a Square Enix take on it…maybe this one is for the handhelds. It always seemed like a perfect game for portables with touchscreen.

  • Code

rar, I read that original as “Square Enix Puzzle Quest style game Gyromancer, getting Setzer”, and I was like “badass” +o+; But then I learned I wouldn’t be playing a Puzzle Quest game with Setzer and was very disappointed omo

  • I really enjoyed Gyromancer though it lacked a certain polish. Hopefully the sequel will contain a better story and be slightly more in-depth.

@Tsuna – Gyromancer was released on Steam and Xbox 360.
