Get Up There! Watch A Master Help Vincent Race Up A Tower In Babel Live

By Spencer . February 18, 2011 . 4:04pm

Babel mode is Catherine’s online connected tower climbing mini-game. Scores from this mode, which has Vincent scale a block tower as it falls from the sky, are posted on online leaderboards. Gotou probably has one of the top scores. According to Atlus, he’s a master at block climbing. Watch him climb a tower faster than a mountain goat.

If you missed the Catherine demo on PlayStation Network the first time, Atlus just put it back on PlayStation Network. However, it will be gone (again) at the end of this weekend. The Catherine demo is also available on Xbox Live and it doesn’t appear to have a time limit.

Wow. This is the first time I’ve seen this part of the game. I wasn’t too sure about the puzzle part first hearing about it, but that was intense.

    • Testsubject909

It’s even more intense when you’ve got a crazy devil woman in a bloodied up wedding gown haunting you with a fork large enough to separate your hips from your waist.

      I want this game… So bad…

    GEEZ HE’S FAST O_O

Well, I at least made it to the top without too many problems in the demo, but not nearly as fast XD

  • MisterDandylion

Wow… Talking about speedrunning/wallclimbing your way up the tower :O Some good tunes eh!

Hey, Ishaan! :3 Is there new info about the soundtrack of Catherine? :D

Holy..! Vincent is one agile guy. He should get into the construction business.

    =O That wasn’t even his best…

Okay, I couldn’t figure this out while playing and I definitely can’t figure it out watching the video… But how do you tell which blocks fall and which ones lock into place?

    • PersonaBull

To fail at describing it (my picture version wasn’t working QQ):
A block will lock in if it falls directly next to/in front of/behind the lower block’s edge (not corner; they won’t connect by the corners).

eDIT: for a visual, if you look at 1:04 in the video you’ll see two blocks connect with a bright light along the edges. That’s how falling blocks will connect if positioned in that way.

So is the actual entire gameplay aspect of the game relocated to just platform puzzle climbing?

Woulda been nice if the developers were influenced by the movie Inception…

    • puchinri

The game kind of reminds me of Paprika gone wrong (worse, actually?), in a number of ways. Which is better, I suppose. (Since Paprika and something else were inspirations for Inception.)

  • Barrit

    Wow, that was just amazing!

  • PrinceHeir

oh my god the game is just too awesome to pass up :P

announce a western release already atlus :P

My brain’s not fast enough to process all his moves @_@

Man, this’ll be a hard game

  • http://twitter.com/menacing_zero menacing_zero

I’ve heard the game’s difficulty is pretty brutal, but that only gets me more excited about this game.

  • animefans12

Makes me want to get it even more now!

I would be so slow on this mode. I’d be going “errrr…” and “ummmm….” even on the early levels.

    Skillful viideo is skillful.
