Gilgamesh Uses The Power Of The Excalipoor To Defeat Bartz

By Spencer . February 24, 2011 . 10:38am

Two new Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy are out in the wild. One shows a fight between Final Fantasy V adversaries Bartz and Gilgamesh in their third form costumes. Gilgamesh wields a variety of weapons and can throw missiles from a distance. During his EX-Burst, if you’re unlucky you could draw the Excalipoor, a sword seen in many Final Fantasy games that deals 1 point of damage. That was enough to finish Bartz off in this gameplay video.

This gameplay video has Prishe and Yuna in a battle. Yuna uses summon monsters for attacks, but she doesn’t appear to have any "secret" summons like the Magus Sisters. Perhaps, the developers felt Valefor, Ifrit, Shiva, Ixion, and Bahamut were enough.

Is this the right video? Gilgamesh never uses his EX burst here, and Bartz wins, which is nothing like the description.

      this.

In this video it showed Bartz win. Maybe linked the wrong video? One thing the person was playing Gilgamesh did that they shouldn’t have is used the Ex Burst as soon as they got it. They should have just waited until Bartz hit them with a combo or an attack to do an Ex Burst instant block and then hit them with their attack. Unless they took it out of Duodecim.

I main Bartz and it looks like they changed a few of his attacks up, some which look much more useful. However, there’s Slidehazzard for this new one using Kain’s spear. Because he’s hitting them up into the air, you probably won’t get them with any wall damage unless you’re really high up(might as well get an HP attack in if Slidehazzard is no longer available.) Holy looks like it homes in more and actually looks like it shoots out faster, even though extremely easy to block or just dash through(which will block) it’s still a good ability to use and combine it into Flare when they get hit.

Yep, that’s right (sorry!) the video has Gilgamesh’s victory now.

They did take out the EX instant block in Dissida, actually. Activating EX Mode while being attacked instead freezes time for your opponent a bit, but you lose your whole meter. (See the recent Duodecim Zidane vs Kuja video for an example.)

    God, I don’t care how many times I hear it, or how many remixes there have been, Clash on the Big Bridge is just…wow. It’s perfect every time. Uematsu’s finest work, next to You’re Not Alone. ;_;

EDIT: No, this is entirely different. Black Mages has a completely different opening. XD

    i want anima D=

the standard summons are cool for regular attacks but it would’ve been cooler if you used the secret summons for the limit break

Didn’t put in other summons b/c it takes up too much space.

Wow, Bartz looks more fun too play than how he was on the first game.

  • Code

haha >ww<' Also anyone else notice at 0:40 he's wielding dual keyblades. Haha so badass!

    • Ultimate_Tifa_Fan

those would be the chicken knives, not keyblades lol. nice try though =P

      • Code

Easy mistake to make I guess considering I wouldn’t know what chicken knives look like, and they look like little tiny Ultima keyblades, but the video quality leaves a lot to be desired >w<'

I’m liking that third costume Bartz has. It’s nice to be able to play as him without him looking androgynous…
I love Gilgamesh’s fail EX Burst xD
These new characters are looking pretty awesome… still hoping for some more though ^^

Lol! I love Gilgamesh! His voice is so funny lol! I love love Bartz third outfit. Looks nice on him :D.

  • karasuKumo

Damn! Gilgamesh’s ex-burst looks like it will be the hardest to pull off!

Yuna looks decent and would be deadly if you mastered her attacks.

  • Angeru_Lito

The Crowd clapping at the end of Gilgamesh Battle was just priceless good to see a Joke-y /silly Character in this game

Is it me or does Gilgamesh sound different in this video than the one in the final trailer?

Also, Roronoa Zoro, is that you?

  • PrinceHeir

    Yuna is soo awesome :D

i guess the characters are all set now :

kinda sucks since Nomura said this is probably the last dissidia for “now”. they might make a new one but with a different style(rpg?) the story has 11 battles to go so they can still exapand those :P

    • suzaku_hien

I think all of us were hoping that there’d be more on the roster.

Anyways, what Nomura said I can kinda of agree with though. They’ve done everything they could with the battle system. It might be better to set Dissidia on the back burner for a while til he thinks of something that’ll make it more appealing.

LOL Wryyyy! Gilgamesh! you are so cool! 8D

  • Testsubject909

Goodness… Gilgamesh truly is akin to Kefka. He’s like the short-range physical equivalent of Kefka.

    It’s awesome!

That’s it, my main team is composed of Kefka with Gilgy Assist or vice versa.
