Half-Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax Console Countdown Start!

By Spencer . February 28, 2011 . 5:30pm

1paMarvelous has a console version of Half-Minute Hero in the development. While the game has not been officially announced, Korea’s video game rating board approved Half-Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax.

Microsoft is listed as a publisher, which may seem a bit odd at first because CyberFront Korea usually handles Marvelous titles in the region. They localized and released Half-Minute Hero for PSP under the name Hero 30. Usually, Microsoft’s name pops up as the publisher for Xbox Live Arcade games, which suggest a digital release for Xbox 360. This doesn’t mean the game will be exclusive. We’ve seen games filed by Sony in Korea’s rating board also appear on Xbox 360 and vice-versa.

If that’s not enough Half-Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax also appeared in Australia’s Classification Board, which means in English speaking regions are likely to get the game too..

I want it on the PS3. Hope this happens along with an xbla release.

  • liamscanlan

Since Microsoft also published another Japanese game, Blue Dragon, maybe they’ll turn Half-Minute Hero into an anime.

    • Whoomp

Hahaha, wat? How can you possibly make that connection? Ridiculous.

  • People will really play a console game for a half minute? I hope it comes with a demo.

        Double Win ^ ^ ^

I’ll say you never played the original, right? The stages have a 30 sec clock countdown to finish them(that can be manipulated for a price), not that the game is made to be playable only in 30 seconds.

Sometimes I wonder if you like to say stupid things only to see people reactions. Then I remember who I’m talking about. That or it’s all part of your cunning diabolical gambit we all fell in. Couldn’t care less anyway.

      • Oh, lol. It was pretty shocking to believe that the whole game only lasted a half minute, would have to have some pretty high replay value to justify a purchase. WOW imagine it being for retail, that would be pretty horrible!

30 second time for the stages sounds like it must be a pretty frantic gameplay experience!

        • You think 30 seconds is frantic? Try doing a stage in… actually I forgot what my fastest time for a stage was… somewhere around the 10-15 second mark. I think. It could have been less. That only put me at rank 20 something when I sent in my time into the official rankings website. That is if was indeed in the 10-15 second mark. If it was less than that, then that would put me in the mid-teens.

            Or finish off Hero 3!

          • That was a nightmare to finish.

  • Pichi

Hope this all paves the way for the sequel to come over.

  • GamerKT

Wow, that name matches the intensity of SUPER STREET FIGHTER II TURBO HD REMIX!

Hopefully it’s just a port of Half Minute Hero 2, because I want to get a physical copy.

I also am sad they removed everything but Hero 30 from Half Minute Hero 2. While I didn’t like Princess 30 or Evil Lord 30 much, Knight 30 was really fun.

  • Ereek

Oh! I can’t wait, Half-Minute Hero was brilliant. Also eagerly awaiting the second title. Damn you, delays.

  • Damn. A new version of one of my absolute favorite games for PSP on what is basically the only system I don’t own… Hopefully this finds its way to PS3 as well!

  • Well, I know what I just Super Mega Neo’d after seeing this announcement…

  • I’m really not sure what to think of this. There’s always the sequel of HMH to look forward to…

  • I loved Evil Lord 30 and Hero 300. Princess 30 was cool too. Knight 30 and Hero 30 were kinda meh for me.

Doesn’t matter, if it comes over, I’ll buy.

    • Ereek

I thought the Evil Lord story was cuter more than anything. It was pretty much bare bones RTS and was surprisingly easy. I loved Princess 30, though. the music and pace were wonderful.

Hero 300 was just amazing and while I hate to be cliche, the end was quite literally epic. Everyone joining forces together with the main theme playing was amazing.

      • Yeah, it’s quite simplistic and isn’t really a “real” rts or anything. I just thought the whole Evil Lord character was amusing, and loved how he pretty much carried the whole thing by himself. I feel that he’s the most memorable character. Had many good laughs out of it.

Meanwhile, Hero 300 was very exciting to finish. I beat the final boss with exactly half a second left. I thought I was going to explode.

      • kupomogli

I agree with Hero 300. While I thought Hero 30 is great, Hero 300 was more enjoyable due to being a much larger quest than the mini quests found in Hero 30. I also beat Hero 3 which wasn’t too hard, but just not as enjoyable as the others.

I think this game is more suited to portable play, but still, good news. I need to pick it up again one day… I played Hero a lot, but after 26 stages it was getting a bit stale.

  • WyattEpp

Wait, a PSP game getting a console release on the 360? Exclusively? Does not computer. This is illogical. What.

(Yeah, I don’t see how they could fail to bring it to PSN (where the original can still be had))

  • So… is this the first or second Half-Minute Hero game? This is confusing. Hoping it’s the second one as I already own the first game on UMD for my PSP. No interest in Digital Only PSP games however so I don’t have the second game for PSP.

    • Ereek

They haven’t announced it either way, yet. This is a leak. I’d take a bet that it’s the second game being ported to Live, though.
