Record Of Agarest War Zero’s Limited Edition Is Squeaky Clean

By Spencer . March 8, 2011 . 6:19pm

RoAWZ_LE_overview_PS3After the racy Record of Agarest War naughty edition, I thought Aksys would release another over the top collector’s package for Record of Agarest War Zero. But, you get any more squishy mousepads or giant pillowcases with the prequel to the Agarest series.

The Record of Agarest War Zero collector’s edition includes a tame soundtrack CD with 34 songs, a 48-page character guide, deck of playing cards, and a set of skill cards. A limited edition package costs $59.99 while a vanilla copy of Record of Agarest War Zero goes for $49.99

This time Record of Agarest War Zero will be a retail release for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Aksys plan to publish Compile Heart’s visual novel meets strategy RPG this June.

  • Darkrise

Unexpected. But NICE! DAY~1! June just can’t arrive fast enough. =/
Also looking forward to Ar Tonelico 3 next week!!!!

My god, i still can’t imagine me putting ar tonelico’s cd into the ps3… it feels so unreal… ahhh

      • DanteJones

I’m with you on that one man. A part of me is expecting something horrible to happen, like you pop in Ar Tonelico and a message pops up saying “LOL JK” or something. XD

        • Hahaha yeah xD, it feels too soon lol

      • Kai2591

        I understand that feeling dood..Hnnnngh!

  • This time Record of Agarest War Zero will be a retail release for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Very nice. Now I’m wondering if Aksys is dubbing it, or if Sony is really starting to ease off on that policy…

    • landlock

Considering Yakuza 2-4 isn’t dubbed I think it’s more to do with the fact SCEA thought the original Agarest wouldn’t sell but now they’ve proven themselves it’s OK.

    • They are not dubbing it, seems the psn sales impressed sony? THey already answered that this will be full jap xD, check aksys’s forums

  • I love how JRPGs come packed with stuff for $60, when North American developers love making games for $60 alone, and $90 for Limited Editions.

EDIT: And JRPGs come with better stuff (artbooks, soundtracks) instead of some gimmicky toy (nightvision and RC toy, anyone?)

    • kactaplb

roughly the same in japan. although much better collector item usually.

  • Just talked with a friend about how awesome the Agarest Zero limited edition will be, and here I am seeing this with joy in my eyes! :D
Really sweet and not hardcore limited edition, for just $10 more I surely will pick up that one!

  • PrinceHeir

yes thank you for the physical release :P

  • Arcm

Preordered!! Now to beat every rpg I have back logged before this comes out

  • Yes, i saw this, it’s awesome, definitely pre ordering

  • DanteJones

Oh wow, I just pre-ordered this today when I was picking up Dragon Age II, nice to see theres some info out about it already.

This is a lot more tame than I was expecting! Unless theres a string you pull on the bottom of the box that immediately inflates a large pair of… assets. :O

Kidding aside, I’m really glad this is making it over stateside. I wonder if it snuck by the SCEA, or if they’re planning on dubbing it?

  • Chippel

Okay, I’ll be the first to say: Awww, I liked the much more interesting limited edition of the first game. It was unique, surely. The price is right on this thing, but I don’t care much for things like art books.

  • Barrit

Has anyone here played this yet? I heard the first one was pretty painful.

    • It was good. I liked the idea, the story and some character. The battles were frustrating and some battles were hard and repetitive if you never play a game like this.

But even so I liked so much that I’d buy the other games. Zero fix a lot of things and Agarest 2 is veeery different in a good way.

      • Yeah, is almost like, they cant get worst, the only way there is after Agarest Wars is to get better xD

        • Barrit

Ah ok, thx for the info to you and Daniel both. I know there are a lot of importers that post here, so I was wondering if anybody had played Zero yet. I guess that’s a good way to look at it if the first one was that bad lol.

          • But Zero has extras and you need to play the first. One of those extras is “the door of the future” and you can play some scenarios from the first one (I think you need a save data from the first agarest)

          • Omg that’s so cool! i didnt knew that, i imagine you need to have the save data cleared?

    • The only problem it had is that there were too many battles between each story sequence, overall it was good, but it has its faults, is what you can expect from a young game from a young company, with this, it seems they fixed a lot of things the first game had wrong.

  • Soma

No squishy mousepad? No pillowcase? D:
No way! C’mon, Aksys! You know what we really want. =_=

    • I’m actually happy with this… I mean, since i import the game… i dont really want to have some boobs mouse pad going around the world haha

  • Wackoramaco87

Nice~! I was worried it would be similar to the previous goodies (and uh, lack of physical copy for a ps3)! Does not playing the previous game make a difference, since this is the prequel?

  • Physical disc release and $10 bucks more for the collector’s (is it limited?) edition? I could be tempted to go for that…

  • nyoron

Pfft, lame. Was hoping for more naughtiness so I guess if I do pick this up it will be the regular edition.

But has combat been changed/improved at all? I tried very hard to play the first game – two separate, good faith efforts – but while I enjoyed the story I found battles so tedious and unfun that I quit part way through. I hate to do it but maybe I should just play on easy and see the story…

  • M’iau M’iaut

That looks like it might be a nice box for the collection shelf. Keep the not so subtle pics on those cards and you don’t run into the idiot Gamestop decision again.

    • Aksys put an amazon link when they announced this, so we are safe for now :D

      • M’iau M’iaut

Yup it’s been a DAY ONE BABBEE reserve since it popped.

  • kroufonz

finally gonna get us version since it is on PS3 and physical release.

if only aksys can also include first agarest game in PS3 limited edition so that i can finally have both game on disc with exact same region (there is definitely more than enough empty space in that bluray)

collecting (localized) game series with different region doesn’t look to good on the shelf.

  • That reminds me… I still have the mouse pad in bubble wrap hidden away… or at least I did, until my sister found it a couple of days ago.

    • NOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Couldnt you find a convenient way to explain why you had that xD

      • Well… I told her that it came with a game, which was the truth, after 15 seconds of awkward silence. She laughed at the idea of mouse pad made the way it was, in good way, and just put it back where it was. Still… it was a really awkward moment between us. I’m more glad than I should be about the fact that I can leave playing cards out in the open because of this.

        • Rofl xD you just reminded me of countless of anime scenes.

Still you should be glad to have an understanding sister like that… hahaha, omg i just pictured it so perfectly xD

          • I am grateful. And yes, my life is filled with quite a few anime cliches for reasons I can’t comprehend.

      • M’iau M’iaut

I’m using the mouse pad right now…..In the way a mouse pad is intended to be used.

        • I envy you D:, im just using a little square i have limited for a wireless mouse my small pentable brings T-T

  • raymk

I’m glad it comes out in june. Why you ask?Because I can finish the games in my back log before this comes out.

  • Am I the only one who’s hoping Aksys will try to do more deceptive advertising?

For those who don’t remember, the first Aragest War ad basically misrepresented the game’s RPG elements into something far more saucier.

    • DanteJones

Oh, you mean like that trailer that was kind of a parody of LOTR at first? Hahah, yeah that’d be pretty funny to see again, the one for the first game cracked me up. XD

    • I also hope they dont do that more (even if it was joking) I don’t really want to read again people saying they were expecting …. “more daring stuff” But i think they have more material with this game, the teaser trailer of the jap version was pretty balanced

  • M’iau M’iaut

Darn it! Just thought of an idea Aksys could have used.

Go ahead and name it the “Squeaky Clean Edition”

And make the bonus a loofa with one of the cover girls face on it.

  • Zero_Destiny

Yay!!!! Summer is shaping up real nice with Disgaea 4, Catherine, and now this. Plus there’s the 3DS too. XD It looks better and better.

  • Natat

    Gaaah, I just hope the limited edition reaches around here… nah, no chance in hell it will ;_;

  • rock1644

Hey, this is like the Growlanser Generations Limited Edition. But that set also came with a necklace, and a watch.

  • irzbos

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy artbooks, but I would have loved a free mousepad with a game character like the naughty edition had for agarest War 1. That really was a super nice collector edition goup of freebies. besides I already have playing cards from hyperdimension neptunia. I don’t need another set of video game based playing cards. 8/

  • Anyone knows if the game have any kind of “save importing” from the first game?

  • Freakin amazing! In for one limited on PS3 on release.

  • Sounds.. blah. Don’t get me wrong there’s nothing wrong with it but artbooks and CDs included with games is getting a little boring. Yea, it’s great seeing a small sample of stuff from the game, but it’s not the same if it’s an actual artbook or soundtrack. Just a small teaser of something that’ll never be released in our languages and we’ll have to import for $60+.

idk, I think companies need to get creative again and not just copy everyone else (but don’t go overboard, like CoD and it’s lol-ness).

  • DlanorKnox

Wow, I’m really impressed with this. That’s a great collection of bonuses. Off to pre-order! This summer is going to be great.

  • masuto

I like this better than the first Agarest LE. I bet you the first one didn’t sell too much because of GameStop hiding it and because people thought it was a hentai.

  • Well, that is because Agarest 2 will be the extra naughty edition with it’s Dakimakura.
