Not sure about 5pb’s first fighting game? Then try it first. 5pb just put a Phantom Breaker demo on Xbox Live. The trial version includes four characters: Mikoto, Yuzuha, M, and Itsuki. That’s 1/4 of Phantom Breaker’s all girls roster.

After you choose your character, you can fight against a friend or the computer and begin training for online play, a feature included in the retail version. Save data from the Phantom Breaker demo can be imported into the retail game, which unlocks an unspecified bonus.

Right now, only Xbox Live gold members in Japan can access the demo. Free accounts will be able to download the Phantom Breaker demo starting on March 16.

The character artwork looks really nifty :D

It’s very stylish indeed. It looks like it has taken a few things from Arcana Heart, but I’m only going on what I see here. I’m always glad to see a new fighting game on the block.

The 1-wk wait is annoying… Bullet Soul looks good, will need to chk out this one..

Is it confirmed to be region locked? I’ve seen nothing on that yet.

aren’t all Xbox 360 games region locked? :oS

Niche & Japan-only generally, unless it requires next to no English and has some sort of following…Cave. [Though if it is released out of Japan, it's generally region-locked because of being cheaper...]

Everything from a major publisher generally is region-free though. Which is why there are a number of people that can survive with having just a JP 360.

There really isn’t much of a following for this unlike BULLET SOUL, so *shrugs*.

Oh WoW, thanks, I didn’t know that :o) Thought it was just PS3 stuff that was region free :o)

The reason for a region-lock is that you have to pay each region [ESRB/PEGI/etc.] you want to allow it to work in. And since they are niche, chances are, they’d probably lose money since most of the time they’re text heavy. [since obviously they'd have next to chance of a localization to begin with... it's really messy.]
On the part of the PS3, I don’t think that was ever really clarified on who’s paying for it. Unless there’s different rules, not that we can do anything about it.

No. It is up to the publisher to region-lock a title or not. If a publisher wants to make a game that works outside of their region, they have file paperwork with Microsoft.

it looks like Mikoto has one of those Delusion Swords from Chaos;Head. I am VERY okay with this.

On a slightly less related note: What is up with Japan’s fetish for Blond Hair/Red Eyes?
