White Knight Chronicles II Lets You Skip The First Game And Start In The Sequel

By Spencer . March 11, 2011 . 1:05pm

wkc3 Just like the Japanese release, White Knight Chronicles II includes a tweaked version of White Knight Chronicles with a revised combat system. You get two games one disc, but there was a catch. Players had to finish White Knight Chronicles before starting White Knight Chronicles II. The only way to skip White Knight Chronicles was importing clear data from the first game.

The European release lets players jump right into the story in White Knight Chronicles II, which takes place one year after the events in White Knight Chronicles. Of course, you can start at the very beginning of Leonard’s story, but Level-5 added an option to select the sequel as soon as you pop the game in your PlayStation 3.

White Knight Chronicles II is slated for May in Europe. As of now, the game has not been announced for North America.

I haven’t been keeping up with WKC2, but is your avatar from the first game still just a voiceless nobody? It was a nice feature, but felt ultimately useless in the first game.

    • Ereek

I take it you’re not too fond of WRPGs, which generally do use the “voiceless nobody” bit.

      • Kirbysuperstar2

WKC did it far worse than any WRPG ever has. Aside from working at the same place as Leonard at the start, and the few times you see him in the background making talking motions with Yulie, the avatar is just a cardboard cutout standing amongst the heroes.

Apparently in WKC2 he gets a Knight, so at least that’s something.

Man I hope that’s true, that would make your character actually cool, I waited for the moment you get your knight in WKC 1, but it never happened.. :/

          • AdamBoy64

One thing I hope has been toned up a bit from WKC1 is the difficulty. Transforming to the knights was cool and all, but I never really found it necessary to do (of course, you were forced into it in several battles). The game was a bit on the ‘too easy’ side without transforming.

I might be alone in that thought, however.

          • Draparde

From what i’ve seen you indeed get a knight (has a transforming cutsene and everything) your also able to customize it (like what weapons it uses ect)

      • PersonaSpace

I enjoy Fallout to an extent, but in that game you’re at least the core character involved. In WKC you don’t do anything. You just watch everything unfold.

There is the dlc quest that your avatar is the main character!

ultimate version for us right ? Now I want BBS FM :D

  • HarryHodd

That is great for people who lose thier saves. Glad to see they are doing this right from the start.

  • Roanoke834

Hopefully this comes to the U.S. I’ve been holding off on WKC 1 just because of the improved version they made for the sequel.

    • PrinceHeir

      Yes US release please :)

    • AdamBoy64

Even if SCEA lose their minds and it doesn’t, you’re on an import-friendly console :)

      • sambuque

Isn’t an online pass needed for this game?

        • AdamBoy64

I don’t know what that is, but I don’t think so..

  • kroufonz

still no US announcements, just what scea been doing?

i am just hope they include dual voice option this time(-_-)

    • Kai2591

Dual voice option would win my money~

      • kroufonz

I believe I actually heard something about WKC ll having a leaked release date for late this year.
      But it wasn’t really from a reliable source… a friend…

  • AdamBoy64

Okay. Great, the first game is included. That is really good to know.

I think I’ll start from the first game anyhow, keen to see how it handles with the new gameplay.

Urgh… why i brought the first one then!? T_T, do you know if some story/events or something new has been added to the first game?

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1472407455 Charles Lupula

Just the battle system has been changed. But this is why I didn’t want the first game included in this. I basically just threw away $60 for something I was going to get for free later.

        • AdamBoy64

I guess it’s like (almost) all technology. You lose your money on it.
I got my moneys worth from it, I’ve got no regrets there.

        • http://thrust-the-sky.deviantart.com/ WildArms

Well, i waited for it to go down and payed 40$… But still ._. … I had to import it… Omg this is so lame -_-, god… this really sucks, it almost makes me want to not touch it ever again… argh….

      • HarryHodd

        Battle system and graphics.

Glad I held off on buying the first game then. Wish I did the same thing for the first Dissidia Final Fantasy.

  • Draparde

awesome, im just glad it has both in one game still. US announcement please :D

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Tien-Ron/100001474007360 Tien Ron

i prefered it when you had to have played the first game to do the squeal or have a save file
but i can;t wait for this game

  • Gestahl

I wonder if my american save of WKC 1 will be recognized by this euro version.

  • thebanditking

I will import it if I have to, I specifically skipped playing the original and waited after learning WKC2 has the original on one disc with improved graphics and game play tweaks. I am sure SCEA is going to release this (would be silly not to since the game will be localized for the UK).

  • Uncontested

I thought I would love this game.. instead it reminded me how good we really have it with modern RPGs where you can actually make choices and aren’t 100% linear.. lol.
