Asagi Joins Disgaea 4 As A Charitable DLC Character [Update]

By Spencer . March 18, 2011 . 12:16am

It’s a Nippon Ichi game, so you know Asagi has to make a cameo. For 100 yen ($1.25) you can add the perennial never-going-to-be a protagonist character into Disgaea 4.

Yes, Asagi is a paid DLC character, but she’s also a real life hero. Sort of. Nippon Ichi is donating all of the proceeds to restore areas affected by the earthquake when Asagi is available to download on PSN to June 30th. A release date for the Asagi content pack was not announced.

Did you notice her class? It reads "protagonist of another game?" The running joke continues.

Update: Nippon Ichi will release Asagi as a PlayStation Network download at the end of April.

  • I lol’d. Asagi’s awesome.

Hope lots of people buy her!

  • IceRomancer

Ahh good ol’ cute asagi! My favorite little gunner:)
Good to see her back and loving her stance too!

  • Oh, good. I was getting tired of her being on-disc. Having her as DLC is infinitely preferable. I love giving other people my money. It is what I live to do.

Props for the charity thing, though. That’s cool beans.

  • BadenBadenPrinny

Wish she was on disc :(

  • Oh good, I think this time I will be buying all the DLC for Disgaea 4, I really missed out and regretted it for D3 and never spent the time to ever buy all of the DLC in one big pack. Hm! I hope they do an Almaz as DLC too!

  • Natat

It was kind of obvious she was going to appear, but I’m still glad.

  • skyblaze

Could’ve sworn she was already on the disc… just in non-HD format. So this is basically an HD update for her sprites?

    • But is she recruit-able on disc already?

      • Sal

The non-HD Asagi is recruit-able already.

        • BadenBadenPrinny

          Consider me relieved

  • Code

But I wanna support AND have Asagi too omo; maybe they’ll do a similar deal when it comes out in North America too. I haven’t heard a lot about Disgaea 4’s impact in Japan, but I’m looking forward to hopefully hearing more DLC/cameos news carrying me till NA release >w<'

  • MAN, she looks so beautiful!! I’m in love…no really I love her!! <3<3
Probably main reason for me to buy the game, together with Axel. :D

    • Zero_Destiny

Going Trippin’ with Axel huh? XD The guy is hilarious. Disgaea 2 was the first game I played in the series and when I saw that segment with him I knew I would love this series forever. lol

      • Totally! xD But really I agree, he was so hilarious in 2 the reactions of your crew always when they meet him, and his habit to always acting like a cool badass, but being a scaredy cat in reality! xD Not to mention that his Japanese voice actor is my absolute favorite. xD
Oh, and my god the director! xD

        • Zero_Destiny

A scaredy cat? I don’t know what you’re talking about your TV must be broken or something. The Axel I know is a Superstar [email protected] who never loses a fight!!! XD lol Also I love the Kurosawa reference. lol

  • Pichi

Go Asag! You’ll always be our future hero we’ll see star someday!

  • cmurph666

    I want Prinny Asagi~!

    • Zero_Destiny

  • raymk

I wish I could help by buying her but it looks like i’ll have to wait for the U.S release to support them that way. Glad to see HD asagi though and proves asagi is good a t heart.

  • Nonsense! Sooner or later Asagi WILL get her own game! And then she’ll-she’ll-oh who am I kidding (breaks into tears).

  • I still have 400 yen on my JPSN account, I’ll be buying her DLC despite not having Disgaea 4 yet. I have yet to actually support the people in Japan, this seems like an excellent way. I have no money to spare at the moment either. So yeah. Besides, Asagi is one of my many gaming goddesses.

  • Raharu95

This is more like an Alternate Asagi. There is still an Asagi in the actual game, but her sprite is different (Is Pixelated, even if the others are not)
