A Look At Captain America: Super Soldier On Four Different Systems

Marvel have two major superhero movies releasing over the next two months: Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, both of which, along with the Iron Man movies, will culminate in an Avengers movie sometime down the line.

Just as they did for Iron Man, Sega are developing movie tie-in games for both Thor and Captain America. The latter, titled Captain America: Super Soldier, has what Sega say is “free-flowing combat,” based on performing combos and fighting off multiple enemies. You can also use Captain America’s shield as it was intended: by throwing it, using it as a melee weapon, or using it to block attacks and reflect enemy fire.

Captain America: Super Soldier also sounds like it involves some heavy platforming. You’ll have to scale walls and ledges, vault from poles to cross environmental hazards and discover alternate paths to completing missions. The game isn’t entirely based on the movie, but is an original story set in the movie universe.

Sega have Super Soldier planned for a July 19th release. Since the game is on four different platforms, here’s a glimpse of how each one looks:

Captain America – 360

Captain America – PS3

Captain America Wii

Captain America DS

  • A “July” release and “four” different systems… Hmm…

    • Wow, I never noticed that.

  • the ps3 and 360 is pretty much the same game(as usual), wii has a sort of cartoony look like the ghost buster game, and the ds as an side scroller, huh not much of an difference really from what i see

The DS ver. doesn’t look like a side scroller to me. I’m surprised they went with 3D.

It’ll be a sidescroller. And it’ll be from Griptonyte (sp?). And it’ll be the same as Spider-Man WoS DS, Iron-Man 2 DS, Assassin’s Creed 2 DS and Spider-Man SD DS. I have little to no doubt about this – and while I like the Metroidvania aspects of those games, the engine’s getting a little stale due having little to no improvements other than palette swaps for the main characters and enemies across all the games mentioned.

Here comes yet another movie game that will fail.

    • Aara_Malik_Davoodi

This one doesn’t actually look half bad. Sure, they may have ripped the fight system from Arkham Asylum, but if you’re going to steal, steal from the best, right?

      • The Iron Man games didn’t look bad either. But they sure as hell played like crap. So I’ll wait for reviews this time before even considering giving it a try.

All glory to Sega if you can rock Final Justice.

Of course the PSP is left out once again.
I don’t care that you guys pulled THOR but c’mon…
PSP owners want cheap video-game movie cash-ins too!
