See The Legend Of Heroes: Trails In the Sky’s In-Game Newspaper In English

If there’s one word to describe The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky it might be detailed. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky had a mountain of text to localize because Falcom added extra world elements to the game like an entire newspaper. Pick up the paper to see public reactions to story events and apparently ads for the latest sky cruisers. For fans that love to read or want to delve deeper into the world, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky also has an eleven part mystery novel to seek out in the PSP game.

The only thing missing is a character tracker. Major and even minor characters will change locations during the story. One character, for example, may have dreams about moving to a different town. When you arrive much later on you find him or her in a new home.

Xseed will release the first game in the Trails in the Sky trilogy on March 29 in North America.

So many RPGs, SO MANY MY BACKLOG IS GETTING BIGGER AND IT’S MAINLY RPGs

    • Ladius

Trails will bypass your backlog, just give in to the hype XD

Seriously now, this one isn’t the usual JRPG fare: it’s so damn detailed and well crafted you will be hard pressed to find another game like this in its genre.

      I know, trust me I know. T_____T

Still Trails in the Sky looks too good to pass up.

There are no words to describe what im feeling now, not even the 10 lines Caps lock could represent it…

    • Ereek

Agreed. Xseed has come forward as a dominant niche publisher. I love them very much. I try and buy most of their recent releases, but I have their games from as early as SH: FtNW and their WA releases.

      • http://thrust-the-sky.deviantart.com/ WildArms

Me too, all the trouble it takes to import games is all worthy.

    • Ladius

Quote for truth, I really can’t wait to play this gem :D

      • http://thrust-the-sky.deviantart.com/ WildArms

Yeah!! So close!! just a week more! For the people at the US at least xD, i will wait 1 month until it arrives my house, still…. x_X omg, cant wait

  • DanteJones

Glad to see they’re going all out with the localization and not skimping on a few features. It’ll definitely make purchasing it that much more worth it.

  • Reitsumi

Xseed, you’ll have all my money. Even if I have to pay more for shipping costs.

Yeah, mate. This another great title I’ve been looking forward to!

  • Hours

Just over a week to go! I really hope people will check out this game, it’s going to be awesome.

    • Ladius

It’s our sworn duty as Knights of TitS to spread the word :D Really now, people can’t miss out something this good.

I’m still really interested in that cat to man dictionary lol I think the newspapers are starting to be the most interesting sounding feature to me. Reading the paper between work and school has pretty much become an obsession of mine. I can’t wait to waste even more of my time reading fictional ads and articles lol The sad thing is the fictional articles will probably resonate more with me than the real one. How should I feel about that? O_o

    • Ereek

I love newspapers in games. They really help add immersion and give you some insight into the world.

Take, for example, Oblivion. They had some decent articles going through, but not nearly enough for my liking. There’s a mod out there that adds 2,000+ extra newspaper articles based off of your actions and big events that have happened. It really adds a lot to the world when you can see the results of your actions from an external perspective.

    I <3 XSeed.

  • SolidusSnake

That kind of reminds me of Morrowind. There were so many books you could read in that game… books on the world’s history, biographies of “famous NPCs,” works of fiction, religious texts, etc… I think I spent a few hours real time in the Vivec city library taking it all in at one point. And when you visited some sage or killed a necromancer they would always have the far-out books on the occult, other dimensions, etc. So entertaining. I loved that game.

As a recent convert to the Falcolm cult, I’m really looking forward to this game. Can’t wait to get the LE box on DAY 1 BABY!!!!!

    • Ereek

Some of the cool books from Morrowind were removed from Oblivion. One in particular, since you mention it, is the Necromancer guide to raising the dead. That was my favorite set of books and I was incredibly sad when I learned it was removed.

That’s interesting, npc that feel alive instead of some empty town with the same people saying the same things for the rest of the game. Love those details.

  • Ladius

A million thanks still won’t be enough to express my gratitude to XSeed :) I preordered two copies weeks ago and I really can’t wait to play this game, the uber-detailed settings mixed with tactical combat and multi-title plot have me more excited than ever XD

I really hope other jrpg fans (not to mention the Falcom fanbase) will day-one TitS and justify the massive localization effort XSeed imbued into the game.

  • Ladius

OMG, Falcom just announced another chapter in the Kiseki saga, Ao no Kiseki, a direct sequel to Zero no Kiseki *___*

Well at least if the gameplay isn’t quite there, the narrative and text should make me want to continue.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2BOP4Z5KE5N7T5MUGIV6TEFMT4 Thomas

I wouldn’t worry — the gameplay is ALSO quite good. It’s overshadowed by the narrative, sure… but when you’re doing RPG things, you’ll almost certainly be having a lot of fun with them. ;)

Can’t believe this game is going to come out in about a week. I always like reading stuff like newspapers in games…it adds so much to the experience.
