Dungeon Fighter Online Brawls On To Xbox Live Arcade

By Spencer . March 24, 2011 . 2:42am

ara02Soon you’ll be able to play Dungeon Fighter Online, Nexon’s multiplayer online brawler, on Xbox 360. Magna Carta 2 developer Softmax is working on the console version.

Dungeon Fighter Online will be released on Xbox Live Arcade and just like the PC version the client will be free to download. Nexon plans on using the same freemium (that is free to play, but pay for items) business model. That’s new territory for Xbox 360 since JoyRide, which was originally announced as a microtransaction game, became a Kinect launch title.

Nexon will release Dungeon Fighter Online worldwide in eight languages. Nexon is handling the English, Korean, and Chinese localization. Microsoft will take care of French, Spanish, Italian, German, and Japanese. Dungeon Fighter Online is Nexon’s first console title and the console version is an Xbox 360 exclusive.

Update: The Dungeon Fighter Online client will not be free. Microsoft informed us it will be released as a paid XBLA game.

  • I really do hope this becomes available in the UK, as the PC version is not available to us :(

  • itsmartie

it does say free worldwide release so should be coming to the uk. think i may give this one a try

  • MS really should have kept Joyride a ‘freemium’, it would have really opened things up :/. But this would be a nice start. Then again, them opening up to an online game is surprising enough. [don’t get me started on TFLO]

Interested in this, at least, as my computer sucks.

And speaking of SoftMax, I want a MagnaCarta 3. MagnaCarta 2 was cliche, but awesome *_*.

  • doubletaco

Maybe now it’ll run at a resolution higher than 640×480.

Or they’ll just stretch it out and give it a crappy blurry upscale.

    Predicting the latter.

  • Hraesvelgr

    Just… what.

  • My pipe dream of seeing DFO on the PSN shattered. :/

At least the game is “literally” worldwide now.

    • godmars

Considering the value of MS “exclusivity” it’ll likely be on the PS3 after a year.

Though honestly, it surprises me that titles like this haven’t been on consoles sooner. Also can’t believe that MS wont make an XBL paid subscription required.

      • Oh, they’re not doing it NOW, but you know they will eventually. You know MS, it’s about cash money.

      • Xbox Live Gold subscriptions are not required on any MMO on Xbox.

    • I dont think so … it may have the same block ip like the pc game

      • Then again, it seems that Microsoft will handle European distribution of the game in XBLA, which explains the IP block.

Even then, I hope we’ll see cross-platform gaming for Nexon titles in XBLA.

    • Draparde

yeah i wish it was on the psn too. my 360 went kaput :/

    • I know what you mean. I’d have loved to play Dungeon Fighter Online on my PS3.

Of course, I’d be happy to see any Nexon game on my PS3.

  • I wonder if they will region-lock us in US territories again..

  • Code

Interesting, I’d probably at least try it if the price is free. Buddy’s also channeling some Sol Badguy there.

  • PrinceHeir

did anyone thought the header pic is Sol from Guilty Gear? i mean he has a bandanna, long spikey hair and a big ass long sword O_O

  • Surely it will only work for US’s xboxs >_>

  • Istillduno

    Finally a UK release

  • nice.cant wait to play it

  • B-But… I don’t have a 360…

  • Guest

Nexon on 360?!?! My friend was talking about this today, but I didn’t believe him :0 wow, how would’ve thought. Imaging combat arms on the 360, that wouldn’t be bad actually…
