Zidane And Kuja’s 4th Form In Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy Revealed

By Spencer . March 24, 2011 . 1:20am

Just like Cloud, Squall, Lighting, and Tifa, Final Fantasy IX characters Zidane and Kuja have a "4th form" in Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy. Square Enix will release both of their outfits as paid downloadable content on the PlayStation Store.

Before we get to those, here’s an in-game screenshot of Cecil’s Knight of Two Moons costume. Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection includes a product code for this costume, which is based on his Final Fantasy IV sprite.

Final Fantasy IX art director Hideo Minaba designed Kuja’s fourth form from his appearance in Treno.

Zidane’s 4th form is from Final Fantasy IX’s ending. [Spoiler alert?]

Each outfits costs 300 yen ($3.70) and will be available in Japan via the PlayStation Store on March 31.

Square Enix is also starting to sell background music packs for Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy. A three track pack of Final Fantasy IV songs is available today for 300 yen. You get Golbez’s theme, Giant’s Dungeon, and the Final Battle theme.

A song pack from Final Fantasy (the original) is tied to the mobile version of the game. Users can get a product code for a five song pack. The Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy Ultimania guide also has a code for a Final Fantasy XIII song pack with five songs.

  • And Kuja still manages to wear a visible thong.

He WANTS people to look and be disturbed. THE FIEND!

  • Code

Wow $4 for a single costume is pretty dicey opo; Although on the positive side, Zidane’s costume is pretty neat! On the even-more negative side, Kuja’s costume… I’m not sure what is even going on there but it appears to be stockings with drapes? Hideo Minaba, what have you done!

    • Uhuh, $4 or whatever after the exchange rate I think is a bit too much. It makes MvC3s’ DLC characters look like they’re sent from heaven. And i’m still trying to justify the song packs orz.

      • Code

Yeah $4 is REALLY steep xpx; I’m surprised at the very least they aren’t taking a cue from Capcom with SSF4 and how it handled costumes. Even the song pack is pretty expensive omo; I’ve only ever bought one song pack for a game, and it had like 32 tracks for $5.

  • Can anyone remind me of when Zidane actually wears that outfit?

    • Xeahnort

if i remember clearly, Zidane didn´t wear that black coat in FFIX

      • Fonic

Pretty sure he wore it in the ending, albeit completely drawn around himself, to conceal his identity while on stage.

    • Bring my beloved Dagger to me! *removes cloak*

  • Zidane’s cloak is badass.

  • $4 bucks for one costume is just too much. There’s no way I’m buying any of those. An entirely new character for about $7, though; that, I’ll buy (give more characters to us via DLC, please!).

  • Zidane’s black cloak looks awesome. I can’t wait for these DLCs.

  • doomspeller10

Kuja’s more of a flamer now than he’s ever been before.

  • Pichi

I’ll have to get Zidane’s. So awesome in that.

  • NoElixirs

Barring the garment near his crotch, Kuja’s outfit looks great.

  • Best. Hat. Ever.

That is all I wish (and need) to say :)

  • The spoiler about Zidane doesn’t really spoil anything as it is but it could spoil things for people that are playing it now or that will play it eventually. I won’t go into any more than that since elaborating on why it could be seen as a spoiler will effectively turn it into a real spoiler. It’s also not very effective to place a spoiler alert after a spoiler, even though it’s a question asking whether that should be a spoiler. I’d omit the bit about which part of the game that it’s from just in case.

Edit: Also really wondering what’s up with Zidane’s monster thighs in the artwork.

    • puchinri

I was thinking the same actually. Even though I played to just about the very ending, I don’t remember that outfit, so that was a slight spoiler. But it seemed ineffective to have put the tag (with a question mark) after the fact. I figured they could keep it out too since it didn’t really say much more. (I actually don’t remember Kuja’s outfit either though.)

And both of them have monster thighs I notice… Which is especially weird for Kuja.

  • PrinceHeir

    awesome costumes :D

let’s see some more Tidus and Yuna costumes please :P

  • puchinri

You could almost buy FFIX on PSN for that price… But it would be cool to have Zidane’s outfit.

I am a sucker for music too. Though I’d rather buy an actual (physical) OST or something instead of music packs.

  • IceRomancer

These are awesome! Now just have a vivi assist character dlc and then it’ll be perfect! ;)

  • I’m thinking it won’t translate directly to 3.70, as Prologus translated to $4 in japan, but was $2.99 here.

  • 128bitigor

Thanks. Not only it is the lamest of spoiler alerts, If you wouldn’t even mention it, I’ll probably have no idea. Oh well.

  • Wiccan1109

Kuja sure is a bizzare character. I’m quite sure i remember an interview many years ago where they stated that in Kuja’s very earliest concepts they had a design of him as a woman, but for various reasons they scrapped it and went with a male design but visually they were quite similar. Apparantly one issue was because American children commit suicide or something when homosexual content is involved, the romantically insinuated scenes between Dagger and Miss Kuja wouldn’t have made it past the North American censors.

These days its evolved to the point where most gamers say if its lesbian its okay, and i actually think censorship now is a lot more relaxed, but very few RPG developers would take their game in that direction, since they run a lot of risks. Either way, Kuja gets a lot of crap from fans about being on the flamboyant side but seriously, those thighs could crack walnuts!

    • protofox

Kuja is a regular attendee of Chun-Li’s thunder Thighs academy. If your thighs cant crush a busload of children. then you are going to the wrong gym.

  • Advent_Andaryu

Wow! I’m so excited about the music DLC. Final Fantasy has the best music known to man.

  • theoriginaled

Can we get a costume for Garland that makes him look like the FF9 old man garland? That would be SO sweet.

    • Your best bet would be a mod. Seeing FF9 Garland as alt for FF1 Garland would make it weird since FF9 Garland seems more of a mage-type character than a melee-type like FF1 Garland.

    • theoriginaled

OR OOH a Garnet mod for Yuna. It would have to change up the summons too of course to look like their ff9 counterparts.

  • KyoyaHibari

Just cover up Zidane’s gay ass pink monkey trance form and we got a winner, or at least make it red

  • Draparde

i’ll probably grab zidane’s outfit. it looks pretty nice :o

  • ToSeektheChosen

I thought Kuja was a girl when I saw the art work >.<, and I would love if they'd release this in the States :(

  • epy

When DLC was first thought of, what grand concept it was… something wrong, really wrong happened along the way to this.

Still not as bad as the masters of DLC rip-offs Activision and Bioware though.

  • Kuja still have his Thong…

  • So cloud and tiffa’s Costumes are DLC?
so is there a point to preOrdering it?

  • protofox

Kuja pulls of the butt pirate look with no issue..and..somehow im not surprised. disturbed…but no..not surprised.
