Feed Monster Meat To Save A Cursed Girl In Pandora’s Tower

By Spencer . April 5, 2011 . 11:43pm

imageFollowing the Nintendo Channel trailer, Famitsu has a blowout on Pandora’s Tower: Until I Return to Your Side. The action RPG is set in the Elysion Kingdom on the continent of Graceia during a harvest festival. Ceres, a 15 year old shrine maiden and devout follower of the Eos faith, was selected to sing for the event, but the second she steps onto the stage beasts suddenly appear.

In the middle of the chaos, Ceres’ close friend Ende finds her unconscious just as she’s about to be taken away. Graiai, a street merchant, guides the two into an isolated tower to escape. They discover Ceres has been cursed with the "Mark of the Beast" and the only way to break the curse is to feed Ceres meat from the beasts within the tower.

Ende is the stalwart protagonist in Pandora’s Tower. He’s 22 years old and was an Athínan soldier when his home country was at war with Elysion. While he usually wields a sword, Graiai hands him the Oreichalkos Chain before he steps into the tower. Ende has to use this chain to defeat beasts within the tower so he can return with meat to delay the effects of the curse. The bottom left of the screen shows the curse timer. While meat from lesser fiends cannot remove Ceres’ curse, it can halt its progress. The game ends if the meter runs out before Ende can deliver meat. Defeating all of the bosses in the twelve towers to save Ceres.

Yes, twelve towers. They’re connected and appear to have different environments. Famitsu mentions a crimson tower with flames that block Ende’s progress. Famitsu notes Pandora’s Tower has gimmicks to restrain beasts and the game has simple to pick up controls with the Wii remote.

Ganbarion, makers of One Piece: Unlimited Cruise and Jump Ultimate Stars, is developing this title for Nintendo. Pandora’s Tower: Until I Return to Your Side is slated for release on May 26 in Japan.

Feed Ceres meat coming from the beast?
    uhmmmm…why not kill the beast?

    • http://chronotwist.deviantart.com/ JustThisOne

How do you think you’re getting the meat? ಠ_ಠ It would be mean just to take the arm or something and bolt.

      • Zero_Destiny

But if the monster is a zombie, a nosferatu, or a gundam then it wouldn’t be mean it would be cool, No it would be awesome ^_^

Really anyone who beats someone up with their own arm is just a bad@ss

No one can ever take off Zodd’s arm without dying first.

          • Zero_Destiny

But it doesn’t stop him as wielding it as a weapon. XD

Zodd is bad@ss like that!!!! :)

  • Zero_Destiny

That sounds really interesting. I hope it doesn’t turn into one big fetch quest but I can see a timer being a good way to increase challenge. But man I dig that story. I love the retro feel to it. The story feels really throw-backy to me and I like my stories like that. The Mark of the Beast, Oricalcum, Pandora? Japan will add together folklore from pretty much what ever cultures floats their boat. XD And that Ende, he’s mad player with Ceres. :P Nice a sexy younger girl. You go.

It’s just as strange as seeing trendy Feng Shui books, I suppose. :P I’m pretty sure Greek mythology inspired this game though.

      • Zero_Destiny

Ah touché!!! Very Clever of you. :) It definitely feels Greek to me. I like the vibe.

  • http://chronotwist.deviantart.com/ JustThisOne

… Oh crap. I sense a “Shadow of the Colossus” type ending. Am I going to cry?

  • Phlo

“Mark of the beast”? That has…ominous connotations. Something tells me this cure might be worse than the disease.

    • gatotsu911

“Mark of the Beast” + New Testament quote on game website = ?????

    I like what I see!

I will definitely keep an eye on it.

Plus, it’s released on my birthday! lol

  • puchinri

I like the sound of it. It’s simple, but in the best way possible. Which a lot of games fail to be or some devs sadly don’t aim for anymore.

I look forward to more footage or screens of it

  • http://tristsantithesis.tumblr.com/ Tsunayoshi Sawada

Well now this sounds interesting. I hope the story is solid in the final release.

You know I want to try deliberately to get a game over at least once, just to see exactly what happens to Ceres when the time runs out.

I also love that she’s called Ceres and you have to feed her meat. :)

  • http://twitter.com/gabriel_may_uk Gabriel May

The twist is the girl is a jew (or vegeterian) and so you must force her to eat the meat…wow that sounded dirty >_<

    • TheGoddamnedKamina

      that’s what she sai–

    • gatotsu911

Jews eat meat, dumbass. They just don’t eat pork or shellfish.

      • http://twitter.com/gabriel_may_uk Gabriel May

…You do know Monster meat is pork. Dumbass.

        • gatotsu911

Um, have you asked a rabbi about that?

  • http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=2704923 Buntar0

Absolutely not what I expected, but a it’s from a genre that isn’t too crowded on Wii. Oh and I really enjoyed the Unlimited Cruise games.

This game seems to have pointer and motion controls: There is this scene were Ende grabs a wolf-like creatre and uses it as a weapon against another beast.

  • http://twitter.com/ChestnutBowl Chestnut Bowl

Sounds like an interesting premise. I don’t know how fun the game mechanics will turn out, though. Hopefully, they aren’t too shallow.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=685251645 facebook-685251645

I sense it never being released outside of Japan. I mean you tear off monster flesh…

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/ArcadeInfinity scott

      You mean like Monster Hunter??

    • MPHavoc

Compared to No More Heroes or Madworld, this is rather tame. I don’t see why Nintendo wouldn’t localize it if it makes adequate sales.

  • DanteJones

I love Ceres’ character design, and the premise of the game sounds similar to Shadow of the Colossus which was awesome. :D

  • Exkaiser

I can do this. Lemme just bust out my Longsword and the trusty ol’ Rathalos armor…

  • gatotsu911

I can’t recall the last time Nintendo announced a game less likely to make it overseas. I’d love to be wrong about this, though.

  • PrinceHeir

    interesting :D

    more videos please :P

  • Saraneth

Her back is too sexy to ever make it to the U.S. :(

  • Aoshi00

It reminds me of Gohan keep cutting off the dino’s tail for meat when he was thrown in the wild for training :)

    Anyway, Noto Mamiko FTW :)!

Lots of Greece and Roman mentions here. It’s interesting that the female character is named Ceres because the Greece equivalent, Demeter had a daughter named Persephone, who was at the center of the Elysium mysteries (along with Orpheus). Elysium was the place of the dead where one goes at their life’s End (if they are worthy)…I wonder if these names have any connection to this. Eos is also the greek goddess of dawn….well anything that has some sort of connection, even if really light, to Greek mythology has my attention!

Also, am I the only one who finds it odd that Ende and Ceres are childhood friends when they are from different countries? Warring countries too….oh well, hopefully there is an explanation that doesn’t stretch the imagination. :P
