Yakuza: Of The End Blasts Into Stores On June 9

By Spencer . April 7, 2011 . 12:32am

imageShortly after the Tohoku Earthquake, Sega postponed Yakuza: Of the End. The PlayStation 3 zombie shooter was originally scheduled to come out the same week. Looks like the delay wasn’t too long. Yakuza: Of the End (well, aside from a few early copies that retailers received) will be released on June 9 in Japan.

First run copies come with two bonuses, a Yakuza sticker that says "Go for it, Japan!" and more importantly a donation to the Red Cross. A portion of the proceeds will go towards areas affected by the Earthquake. Awww… we always knew Goro was a big softy.

I hope this comes to North America! I love the Yakuza series so much. I also wish I could import this to help Japan out with their crisis. Go for it Japan, stay strong just like those stickers say!

I’d like for it to come out here too, but first week sales of Yakuza 4 were less than half of what Yakuza 3 sold… After all Sega’s efforts to give us a near-complete version. Of The End might still have a chance, since it’s really being branded as more of a shooter, but I wouldn’t hold my breath or anything.

I never held my breath for Yakuza 3 or 4 to be completely honest. I just figured they would never make it over. I am glad they did. I remember I was really shocked when I seen the second one in stores just because of the small fan-base Yakuza has. Games like Yakuza don’t appeal to many people overseas which is unfortunate because it’s a really great series. I hope it comes to NA, but again I won’t count my chickens until they hatch.

I wonder if the fact that the demo for Yakuza 4 was absolutely terrible has anything to do with it. I know if I had never played a Yakuza game and then I played the combat-only demo, I would’ve passed on the series too. I probably would’ve seen the series as a poorman’s Final Fight or something.

I will be greatly upset if this doesn’t come out in the States.

I tried the demo and it wasn’t to great, the aim mechanics were sorof weak and it wasn’t as exhilarating as I expected, I wish they would bring Kenzan here.
