No Problem, El Shaddai: Ascension Of The Metatron Demo Launches On Both Systems

By Spencer . April 14, 2011 . 1:01am

Instead of reading this you could be playing El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron. Ignition just put a demo up on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Store. All you need is a PlayStation Network account registered in Japan to download the file.

While a demo is up on Xbox Live, it is only available for gold members at the moment. Starting on April 20, anyone can get the El Shaddai demo.

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron launches in Japan on April 28. Ignition will release the game in North America this summer with English and Japanese voice acting.

  • Thanks for the heads up, downloading it right now :D

  • I just played around with the demo a bit and so far my impressions are good. I got my butt kicked repeatedly at a certain point, but I imagine being able to understand the control descriptions would help that a bit.

Platforming seems a bit more manageable than some previews around the web made out to be. I still fell a few times because the distance was hard to judge thanks to the environment’s visual style.

By far one of the prettiest games I’ve ever played though. I wish I could take a screenshot of one of those long staircases and use it as a wallpaper on PS3/PC.

  • Demo controls (PS3):
Square/Triangle – Attack. You can hold it for a stronger attack, and while you execute the stronger version if you push the button a few more times you’ll land more hits.
X/O – Jump, you can also execute a double jump by pressing the button again in mid-air.
R1 – Block. You can counter the enemy attack if your timing is right.
L1 – Purification. You can use this to take the weapon from a stunned enemy or to purify your own weapon, because it becomes dark after a few hits (maybe it affects the damage or something)
    R1 + Square/Triangle – Weapon specific attack.
R1 + X/O – Weapon specific movement. You can use the gun-like weapon dash move after the second jump.
L1+R1 – Some sort of limit mode, haven’t used it once, I don’t even know if its in the demo.

    Hope this helps :)

    • Awesome, thanks for that! :D

    • Barrit

Thanks man! I downloaded it, but will have to give it a try later.

    • PrinceHeir

      interesting :D

      will try it ^^

  • While it looks and sounds nothing short of amazing I had a hard time with the controls. I fall into crevices all the time ’cause the distance is so hard to judge (especially after a double jump), and I lose battles as I keep purifying by accident (can be pretty deadly when someone’s going all out on you).

Maybe I’ll get the hang of it eventually. The gorgeous graphics and sound keep me coming back for more.

    • As for the jumps, I found it the easiest to just look on shadows on the floor. For the 2D parts, just ride the waves :D

Nice another demo to check out in the JP PSN store. This game looks so beautiful.

I know JPN PSN needs more PS3 demos. They are really light on that

This! I need Lucifel’s voice in Japanese… And if he sounds good in English… EVEN BETTER!

      • O___O I might just forgive Ignition for mass raping Lux Pain and Arc Rise Fantasia.

        That’s a VERY big might.

        • puchinri

          If Lucifel sounds as sexy in the EN version as he does in the JP ver., I will definitely be able to forgive them for butchering Arc Rise Fantasia and more. ;u;

  • Downloading now.
