Take A Look At The Fuka Figurine Inside NIS America’s Disgaea 4 Premium Edition

By Spencer . April 20, 2011 . 11:31am

When NIS America announced their Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten premium edition they said the package included an art book and a Fuka figurine. While the box appears to be the nendoroid petit Fuka, we weren’t 100% sure so we contacted NIS America to double check.

It turns out the figure in the North American premium edition is different. This is the Fuka figurine we get instead of the nendoroid in the premium and super premium packages.

Remember the Disgaea 4 trading arts? This Fuka figurine is from that collection. NISA America is bundling nine trading arts figures with the massive super premium Disgaea 4 package. You can only get this set from NIS America’s online store, which is taking pre-orders reminders now.

  • I’m confused now… If you already order the 9 figure set, which this is part of, you’ll be getting it twice? 0_o

    • Werent there 10 total figures in all though?

      • The Fuka figure pictured is ONE of the NINE figures. This is why we are confused… Why would the same one be made twice? Despite they say 10 figures. This doesn’t make sense.
        Unless Prinny is the 10th…

        • The fuka pictured is one of the 10 trading arts, removing fuka out of the set and giving to the two editions leaves 9 of the original 10 left. I do not know where confusion is coming from. (plus the US site says 9 figurines)…

    • It’s not that confusing! You will not get Fuka twice. Another figure will replace her in the super premium set.

  • Pre-orders don’t start until July I think.

  • Wow, that…….actually looks pretty shoddy and cheap.

  • MizuMikomi

    You are joking… right?
    I mean really… that’s… stupid.

So essentially, people who order the Super premium edition will get that Fuuka figurine twice? Riiiiiight, I highly doubt they’d give the same figure twice.

    • What do you mean? There are 10 total figures in all (trading arts) Even the way they spell it out on the preorder page:

“Disgaea 4 Premium Figure Set Includes:
      • Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten Premium Box
      – Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten for PS3
      – Full color, softcover artbook
      – Fuka figurine
      • Complete Disgaea 4 Nine Figure Set ($72 value)
      • Free Bonus Disgaea 4 OST ”

So where are you getting that they are getting Fuuka twice?

      • shimrion

That Fuuka figure is a part of the 9 figure set. If they are giving that one out as the Fuuka figurine by itself, then we get it twice once as itself and once as a part of the set. Here is a picture of the full set as proof. http://www.1999.co.jp/user_image/101/20110408181007_10134741_1_1_3.jpg

        • That picture is missing two other figures.

          • shimrion

no the wolf dude is behind the purple chick you just can’t see him very well because of her, and there are only 9 figures in the set, that is a full set box bought from the Japanese release.

          • It is, that’s my picture =P Fenrich is behind Desco’s tentacles, so you can’t really see him in that particular picture.

Aaah~ Guess I owe you an apology, Spencer, I just really REALLY didn’t want to believe you were right about this, guess I kinda directed it at you. Hrmm.. Get premium edition with figurine I already have… or get super premium edition for 60 dollars more because of one figurine I didn’t get… yeah.. I don’t see that happening anytime soon ._.

        • You will not get the Fuka figurine twice. There will be another figure to replace her in the super premium set.

        • [The Hunter] Doomrider

          They look so adorable <3

    • You will not get the Fuka figure twice. You’ll get another figure in the super premium set to replace her.

      • MizuMikomi

Ahhh, I see, well thanks for clearing that up. This really sucks though, since I wanted the artbook and OST, but I don’t particularly care for the trading arts figures… oh well.

  • I think you mean preorders start in July as the site says. Its gonna be nice having these figures. Only for Disgaea 4 would I spend $119.99 on a set, it is epic in total.

    • [The Hunter] Doomrider

      Yeah. And Naruto.

      And Bleach.

      And Fairy Tail.

  • godmars

Wanna say I’d hit that, but she’s the one with the baseball bat.

    • peanut butter jelly time?

    • FireCouch

      She looks 13 years old?

  • Neckbear

…Well, I’ll still get the Premium Edition just for the artbook and OST, I guess.

  • That was a bit of a letdown. I wanted the nendroid figure of Fuka. That should be called false advertisement.

But still. I will order the Premium Figure edition. For all the goods. And above all hopefully a great fun game.

    • Ryos

Personally, I think all of the goodies combined make the $10 premium worthwhile…but not the $70 for the really fancy set.

      • Rarutos

Yes I agree with this… I would be perfectly happy with the Premium Set because it would have come with a standalone figurine, which was supposed to be the Fuuka Nendoroid. But alas, now I’m just getting one piece of a bigger set! And I’m not really willing to pay double the price for the rest of them, especially since I’m already getting the Japanese Meruru LE…

Well, at least we still get the delicious premium box, artbook, and OST. So it’s still more than worth while.

  • Is it me or something looks off…

    • AnimusVox

      Alot looks off

  • d-d-d-dd-ddooooddd!

  • Not getting the Super Premium now for sure. Artbook+OST is good for me kthxu.

  • lurkingsalt

I was 100% expecting it to be a Fuka Nendroid. Hope this is some kind of mistake, because all the enthusiasm I had for this premium set has diminished considerably.

    • We asked NISA about it to be sure since we know the readers would care about this point. NISA directly informed us it is the trading arts figure and another figure will replace Fuka for the super premium edition.

      • lurkingsalt

As long as you asked and they confirmed I have no reason to not believe it, it’s just disappointing. Thanks for inquiring about this on our behalf, love this site.

  • Rarutos

This really is a bit disappointing. I wanted the Fuuka Nendo. :<

  • Yeah… Faulty information much? Talking about Siliconera, not NISA. They had a previous article about the 9 figurines, which they said had a mystery Prinny figurine, which it doesn’t, that Prinny is not part of the standard 9-set of figurines. Also this Fuka figurine they’re showing is the one from the 9 small figurines and has nothing to do with the Nendoroid. You can also purchase these 9 figurines on just about every decent figurine online store, btw…

    • I think you’re missing the point about the article. The US will not be getting the nendoroid in the premium edition or the super premium edition… period. Instead we’re getting the Fuka trading arts figure in both packages.

As for the other detail, I can’t comment on that at the moment.

    • rock1644

Actually, NISA’s store shows the Nendroid figure. Don’t shoot the messenger.

      • Is @NISAmerica selling the Fuka Nendoroid?

        • rock1644

No, they are just showing the picture of it on the Premium Edition page. It is misleading on their part.

    • Thanks for the apology below :) But, in the future I’d appreciate if you would tone down the so-called “rage.”

We’re just trying to inform you and other readers on details that you guys and gals care about. Since I don’t collect nendroids the difference in figure doesn’t affect me personally, but I understand it is an important point for other fans, which is why we set out to get a clear answer.

What’s important to readers takes precedence over everything else on Siliconera.

Perhaps, we’re not so far off with our other article either… I don’t know you’ll have to wait and see.

  • IceRomancer

I was really hoping for the Fuka nendo :( doubt I’ll get the premium anymore T-T

  • Code

Still for $59 and getting the game, OST, Artbook, figure that’s a pretty sweet deal, since end up paying that any ways, glad to see NIS do some bundles >ww<'

  • pridesin

I don’t see the reason to choose Premium Figure Set over premium set. The premium set offers so much stuff, I would still buy it for 70 dollar.

  • glemtvapen

    What the hell…
There’s not much point in getting the premium anymore aside from the hardcover artbook.

    It is still hardcover, right?

edit: Ah, I proved myself wrong. It’s softbound. I guess I’m going standard.

    • shimrion

One of the asterisks on the pre-order reminder page says it is softbound. Look at the bottom left corner of the set picture on it.

    • I think it was mentioned that the artbook is softbound.

  • Exand

Since people don’t seem to understand why people are still confused:

The original Disgaea 4 PVC set was this:
    Angel Flonne
    Fallen Angel Flonne

    That’s nine in total.
The Prinny was a limited edition figure and wasn’t part of the regular set of 9.

The way NIS has it listed on the website for their Premium Figurine set, it looks like it’s the 9 PVC set minus the LE Prinny along with the Fuka Nendoroid that came with the Japanese SE.

But the picture in this article indicates the Fuka figurine in the Premium Figurine set is actually the Fuka figure from the PVC set.

So either there’s been some miscommunication, or most likely we will be getting the LE Prinny for the Premium Figurine set making the package a full 10 figures, and the Fuka PVC not the Nendoroid, in the regular Premium set.

What’s disappointing for some is the pictures used on the NIS site indicate they were going to get the Fuka Nendoroid for the Premium sets, but in fact you only get the Fuka figure from PVC set.

    • Just to clear the confusion:

      – The Fuka nendoroid will not be included in any premium or super premium set. Because we know the readers here care about that we asked on behalf of the community.

      – You will get ten different figures in the super premium edition. You will *not* get Fuka twice.

      • Exand

        Thanks for clearing that up.

They should probably remove the Nendoroid box art then because it’s going to disappoint more people… :|

  • neetloaf

Well NISA ain’t getting that extra cash from me with this tomfoolery.

    • jello44

I feel the same way, I was willing to pay the extra 10 dollars if it was the nendro, but since it isn’t, I’ll use that 10 dollars towards something else.

  • I actually like this figure, a nice bonus. Will be getting the Premium Edition.

  • zhemos

wow what a huge letdown. that figure is hideous. i’ll take the 49.99 version thanks.

  • I was hyped for the LE, now I will get the standard edition…

  • Zero_Destiny

Not as kawaii as the other one but still a darn nice figure. ^_^ I’m still willing to cough out the $120 for the Super Awesome Deluxe set they have. Oh man I don’t know how anyone can complain when we’re getting such a nice set. XD

  • nyoron

That’s a shame, all of those trading arts figures look pretty crappy, especially next to a nendoroid. I wonder if they thought they could get a supply of them and it didn’t work out? Otherwise it was pretty misleading to use the nendoroid packaging in that promo image, although at least they came clean about it before preorders actually opened. I’m just glad I bought the Japanese LE.

  • I hope there still are Japanese LE’s as I now have to buy the game two times(….), just for the Nendo figure….at least for this I only have to buy the standard edition now, maybe normal premium for the OST and Artbook.

  • It’s no wonder Fuka did a Phoenix Wright pose, as a pic link to this article.

On the other hand, NIS America believes America’s not ready for Nendoroids. :s

    Regardless, thanks for the heads-up.

    • Rarutos

That’s not necessarily true. Considering Atelier Annie came with Annie and Pepe Nendoroids!

      • Ereek

I love my Annie and Pepe.

  • Exciel

And there goes all the preorders.

  • Okay, I’m going to have to turn in my otaku points now and ask…

What exactly is a nendoroid and how is it different from whatever type of figurine that is?

    • [The Hunter] Doomrider

Keep your otaku points my dear Charles!

A nendoroid is normally made with a super-deformed/chibi style to be EXTRA SUPER KAWAII DESU. Pocky and stuff.

The one up there is “just” a figure, a normal one, like the in-game Fuka model. No chibi, no extra KAWAII.

Is that… A bit more clear? I’m no expert myself, but I think that’s it.

      • It’s probably more about the fact that the Nendoroid figure is very well made, with nice figure material, good painting and actual worth, wherein this one looks more like a normal little kids toy, the ones you see in normal kid shops(though I have no idea what material and all this is, but we can see on the painting alone that it’s not as hardcore..).

        • [The Hunter] Doomrider

There we go, straight from someone who actually knows what he’s talking about (unlike me)! I’m guessing you’re a collector?

Thanks for the explanation, and I agree that Fuka looks a bit cheap on that pic, but the other ones from the premium set look really good, so I don’t know what went wrong with this one…

After seeing both figures, I prefer the nendoroid but that’s out of our hands, unfortunately.

          • Haha, yea I am, it’s one of my expensive hobbies, probably have to buy the Japanese LE for it now..except there is a figurine only order.~ x3

I agree, some of them do look actually nice, though, for a lot of people, probably not nice enough for that price. Then again it’s not as if we have to buy them, the game together with the OST and Artbook is good enough for me.~

          • [The Hunter] Doomrider

Definitely, it’s a great package just the same!

So disregard my whining and know that I’m grateful for these editions, NISA gods <3

          • cheap? taken in sum in a figure set seemingly worth on the order of 72-90$…for 10 figures, I have to wonder how people can attack the quality. (I think the Axel one looks cool!)

          • [The Hunter] Doomrider

Oh please, White Knight TS, no one is “attacking the quality” xD I’m not questioning the figure’s value, I just think it looks a bit cheap in that pic, regardless of price. But wonder away!

And as I said above, the premium set look great, so maybe the problem lies in that pic.

      • Out of all the tention in this thread thats probably the funniest thing I read.

        • [The Hunter] Doomrider

          I aim to please <3

    • Locklear93

Also a figure collector, and one who owns the Fuuka Nendoroid Petite (imported a first run Disgaea 4 limited edition). Honestly, the Nendoroid Petite (that’s an important distinction–Nendoroid Petites are much smaller than Nendoroids) Fuuka is probably my least favorite of my Nendoroid Petites. I DO like it. It IS nice. Honestly, though, I like my Noel Vermillion petite, and my Touhou petites better.

I don’t think it’s worth skipping out on the Disgaea 4 premium set over the Fuuka petite, but that’s just my personal judgment, owning one. I will definitely agree, though, that NISA should remove any images implying the Fuuka in US editions will be a Nendoroid Petite. Even if I don’t like my Fuuka as much as others, there’s no question that Nendoroid Petites are a cut above the standard Disgaea trading figures (usually made by Toranoana).

Edit: Difference between a Nendoroid and Nendoroid Petite. http://myfigurecollection.net/profiles.php?user=Locklear93&page=collection&status=2&sort=category&order=asc&pp=140&root=-1&category=0&display=mozaic&search=Nendoroid
First figure is a Full Action Nendoroid of Saber from Fate Stay Night. The last, of Miku Hatsune, is a Petite Plus (just because it came up when I searched my collection for “Nendoroid”), and all the rest are Nendoroid Petites

  • Darkrise

I was really hoping for the nendoroid… I’ll just get the regular edition.

  • lurkingsalt

After calming down and actually looking at this in perspective, I realized I spent $60 on Rorona/Neptunia/Qoga day one before this. I can spend $60 again and get exactly what I got before Oversize Box/Art Book plus a figure at no extra cost. I can live with that, maybe some of you can also.

    • To be fair in Japan, the limited edition with the nendoroid and hardcover art book retailed for 9,975 yen that’s like $120. A standalone game was 7,140 yen or roughly $86. For $60 you get the game + artbook + soundtrack CD + figure in the US.

  • Meh! I wanted the Nendoroid. That low level character ain’t worth it. I’ll save the difference to buy DLC content.

Im still waiting for a price drop on the Disgaea 3 DLC content though.

  • KotaroInugami

I’m a big nendoroid collector so this hits me pretty hard. I was debating if I’d still order the premium but the more I stare at the pictures of these figures… the more I spot the imperfections. I mean look at that paint job…

I feel like if I placed these figures on my shelf by my nendoroids these figures would spontaneously burst into flame…

    • lurkingsalt

You wouldn’t happen to have the Bakemonogatari Petit Vol1-3 would you?? I’m not really a figure collector but every time i see a Nendroid I can’t help but want to start buying them. The Bakemono vol 1 are all sold out from I can tell and I would still like to get my hands on it, regrets :/

      • KotaroInugami

Sadly I only have Vol. 3, but I saw 2, I just didn’t like them. Vol. 1 has seemed elusive since I’ve become a collector.

        • lurkingsalt

If I would be buying online what reputable sites would you recommend??

PS: Sorry, didn’t mean to get off topic. Thnx for the info.

          • KotaroInugami

Hmm, well honestly it’s all about price. I mostly shop on amazon or ebay. But it all depends what I’m searching for and who’s selling it at the better price. But let’s not fill this page with discussion. Start with amazon. The store on amazon called “Animewild” has been my main supplier. After that, just remember if a price seems too good to be true. It might be a knock off. Happy hunting.

  • Draparde

hmm, not as good as the nindroid, but i’ll still be preordering!

  • ouch… I’ll buy regular edition

  • xXDGFXx

    this… is rather disappointing…

  • If it had come with the Fuka nendoroid this would have been an instant preorder, even though I have no PS3 now. But now I don’t know…

  • Hey, thanks for confirming this!

  • Lord Highawesomeparty

Well I guess I’m just getting the $60 version for everything but this now…

    I’m unbelievably disappointed.

  • cj_iwakura

It’s still a nice figure. You don’t want it, don’t buy the PE.
