Obscure SNK Fighters Aggressors Of Dark Combat & Savage Reign Bound For Wii

By Spencer . April 29, 2011 . 10:31am

agressSNK’s collection of fighting games goes beyond King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown, Fatal Fury, and Art of Fighting. They also released Aggressors of Dark Kombat, which had finishing moves a la Mortal Kombat. Fill up the crazy meter in this game and you can throw lethal burning basketballs or summon a tiger.

Watch the video below to see all of the crazy attacks and some of the game’s post fight banter.

Aggressors of Dark Kombat is coming to Virtual Console in Japan on May 10. Two other lesser known SNK fighters, 3 Count Bout, a wrestling game, and Savage Reign, a 2D fighting game with weapons set in the 21st century, are slated for release in May too. Mega Man 5 and Jaleco’s Super Nintendo beat ‘em up Brawl Brothers will also go on sale, as well.

ahhh SNK, probably one of the best arcade developers back then along with Sega.

if they really want classic games for digital service like wiiware/psn/xbla. they sould start with the good ones.

where’s my KOF 2002UM, XI, Mark of the wolves, Neo geo BC and XIII? :P

Worth noting that Aggressors of Dark Kombat (“ADK”, aka GanGan) is not by SNK. It was developed by ADK, of World Heroes fame. Notice the matching acronym – haha silly ADK. SNK has rights to distribute it now, but they didn’t develop it. They also did put Kisarah from ADK in Neo Geo Battle Colosseum, like some other ADK characters (Hanzo, Fuma, and Mudman from World Heroes).

As for ADK the game… it’s a very weird game. Not exactly “good”, but interesting no less. Very long rounds, 3D movement kinda like a side scrolling beat-em-up.

Savage Reign is actually pretty good, one of SNKs more underrated fighters.

Both have already been on SNK’s PS2 compilations. ADK on the ADK disc along with Ninja Masters, Ninja Commando, Ninja Combat, and Twinkle Star Sprites. Savage Reign along with its tag-battle sequel Kizuna Encounter. Both of those compilations were Japan only though.
