A Clearer Look At Patroklos, Soulcalibur V’s Protagonist, And The New Siegfried

Set seventeen years after the events and Star Wars battles in Soulcalibur IV, a new hero will take the lead in Soulcalibur V. Introducing Patroklos, a regal looking fellow who wields a short sword and shield just like his mother, Sophitia.

Soulcalibur wouldn’t be Soulcalibur without Siegfriend or Nightmare. Namco Bandai confirmed he will be in Soulcalibur V and here’s his new look.

Soulcalibur V will be released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 next year as the teaser trailer below notes.

    Awesome~ As long as Siegfried and Nightmare are in I’m happy and he’s now an old experienced warrior dude too, sexy~

    As for Patroklos, I like his design, not as greek as Sophitia, but I don’t complain he has a lot of charme(<3)! Though I hope his fighting style is not an exact copy of her or Cassandra.

      I believe it’s already been mentioned that his fighting style is inspired by his mother’s, but as a boy, is far more rough and ragged.

        Well I can live with that, as long as he has his own touch, though I was never good with their fighting style. >_<

      At this point Greece is a part of the Ottoman Empire so his design is probably based off of clothing from that period, if slightly stylized

        Ah true, though I wouldn’t say “slightly” it’s quite a bit more stylized than the clothes in that period most noticeable his scale mail.

          and the (saber-toothed?) lynx pelt he’s using as a cowl. Actually, he has a lynx design on his boots too.

        Correct me if I’m wrong, but technically speaking, isn’t Ivy a Soul Edge host by blood?

        To those who don’t remember, her daddy was Cervantes.

          I’m not really sure how that would work since Ivy was conceived when Cervantes was Soul Edge’s host, but I’d rather they not do that as then the point of the time skip seems a bit moot.

          That made her ‘immortal’ or something close, right?

          I just remember one of her past plot points being that she was a whole lot older than she looked.

        And looks and acts a lot rougher than Sieg too. Still can see similarities with the way he holds his giant sword and all.

    I doubt much of former SC girls will return. The only one I see coming back for sure is Amy, because she’s conveniently a vampire. Maybe Ivy or Sophitia if they were cursed by Soul Edge or something like that and didn’t age.

    Rock’s kid will surely make an appearance. Lizardman, Kilik, Nightmare and Zasalamel will surely return as well.

      you might be able to bring back Talim, though she’d be in her thirties by this point. I say be prepared for a near-total cast reboot like in SF3 or Garou. Still, I’d like to see what the team could cook up

      Cassandra,talim and hilde are not even that old in scIV so they should return as well. Taki can still return as well i’ve scene woman in their 50′s that still look good so I’d still like seeing her here..

    But didn’t Siegfreid die/crystalize in his ending? Or was that not canon?

      It’s canon, or else they wouldn’t open up the trailer with it. I think he only sealed himself and Nightmare in the crystals. It looks like that seal got undone somehow.

    I was hoping for Sieg to have a full beard, not just stubble. Oh well, my main man is back, YAY!

    Only thing I really want from this game is a way more balanced fighting style without characters that you can just spam one move that makes it impossible to breakthrough. I’m just glad Kilik was changed a bit for SCIV though

    For guest characters I demand they put in the DMC boys (though not that emoriffic twit Ninja Theory thinks is somehow cool)

    I wonder who the guest characters will be this time, hopefully this time they’ll fit right into the series,and I know this is a SC5 post , but wouldn’t it be a little cool if Namco puttails characters as the guest Asbel for PS3 and Yuri for Xbox 360?

    Hopefully the reused SC4 graphics are just a placeholder (at least thats what they looked like). Also hoping they balance the game play more like SC 1 and 2 and nothing like 3&4. That being said I am really excited to see more SC is my favorite fighter.

    Definitely like this look for Sieg a lot better than the crystal Soul Calibur armor he had in IV. Now as long as he still has Gram as a selectable weapon, I’m golden.

    After getting a look at the new Seig, all I could hear from my inner voice was:

    “GRIFFITH!”

    He looks like a cross between older Guts and the reborn Griffith. Band of the Hawk in SC5, anyone?
