Gungnir Has Pixel Art, But You’ll Still See Characters Change Weapons

Imagine endlessly drawing weapon sprites for an RPG. That’s what pixel artist Yamashita did for Gungnir, an upcoming PSP strategy RPG from Sting and Atlus.

In a developers blog, Yamashita said he drew weapons day after day after day so the graphics change when you equip a new weapon. "It was like the nobles oppressing the impoverished," Yamishta joked.

Yamashita says the trouble was worth it because in the end he prepared several hundred weapons for Gungnir. He asked players to please collect a lot of weapons and find a favorite among them.

Yamashita is now working on Gloria Union, which comes out on June 23. Gungnir takes a stab at the Japanese sales charts on May 19.
