One Of The Vile Monsters Waiting To Kill You In Dark Souls

An iron giant, living ooze, skeletion warrior, and a lizard-thing that looks like a certain Metroid character’s distant cousin await in Dark Souls. From Software’s spiritual successor to Demon’s Souls has nearly 100 different monsters grinning at the thought of your death.

Similar to Demon’s Souls you can learn from other player’s mistakes by watching how they died. It’s possible to leave messages in Dark Souls too. Whether you trick players into walking in front of a boulder trap or help them is your choice.

While Dark Souls has multiplayer features, it is a single player game. The pacts you make determine whether players that cross your path are friends or foe. Beacon Fires are a gathering point for players in Dark Souls and you’ll visit those friendly spots often because these are also where you recover and re-spawn when you die.

Namco Bandai estimates Dark Souls has 60 hours of gameplay. You can start the quest sometime this fall when Namco Bandai Games America releases the game on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Japan gets Dark Souls in September and Europe has the game marked for October.

      LOL!!!!

I’m actually looking forward to this game or at least founding out more about it to decide if I’m gonna get it or not, the 1st one kicked my ass hard.

Hope they actually make Demon’s Souls 2, it would be a travesty if the whole franchise was taken by MS, I can live with the Ult Ninja Storm 2 & Final Fantasy XIII, but if MS gets DS, imma be pizzed

“if the whole franchise was taken by MS”

Wha? When was this game taken by MS? Last time I checked, it’s Namco publishing.

      • KyoyaHibari

By “taken” I don’t mean it literally, but I mean the publishers shouldn’t make it cross platform, we need more genuine third party games we can keep exclusive.

Taken by Microsoft? What are you even talking about? Not even Ultimate Ninja Storm or Final Fantasy 13 were taken by Microsoft. The publishers/developers just decided it would be best for multiplat. Much how From did not like Sony keeping a ball and chain on Demon’s Souls so they decided to make what essentually a sequel under a new title.

      • KyoyaHibari

The Demon’s Souls franchise is essentially owned by Sony from what I’ve heard, Dark Souls is a spiritual successor which is the reason they changed the name, I don’t think From was “restricted” by Sony, they just wanted a new similar game to come to 360, but still I want more third party games to be exclusive. I didn’t mean “taken” literally just gave away essentially >.<

      Uh, what?

  • PrinceHeir

    this looks amazing :D

bigger bosses, a more open worlded map, more traps, harder than ever.

    what’s not to like?
