Slated for release this fall on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Japan, Dragon Ball Game Project AGE 2011 has a vague "coming soon" release window for North America.

Update: We just received word from Namco Bandai Games America that Dragon Ball Game Project AGE 2011 is on track for a fall release in North America too. Spike is developing the game and aim to give this Dragon Ball fighting game a manga feel. If attending San Diego Comic-Con is on your to do list in July, you can play a build of the game at Namco Bandai’s booth.

  • “Out of the world Kamehameha” indeed~ xD

Never saw a better ingame Kamehameha though, that thing looks pretty awesome!

    • Even Goku´s boobs look so cool

  • Joe

I’ve heard this game is trying hard to make it seem like you actually are Goku…does that mean it’s coming out for Kinect? That could really be awesome.

    • The Japanese page used the term “narikiri” which means to give the feeling that you’re totally that character. It’s used for a Tales spin-off series too among other things related to fandom.

Since its kind of a loose term I wouldn’t say that word confirms or implies Kinect or any other motion control systems.

I’m getting a Naruto UNS camera vibe from this but…what was the problem in just porting over the recent Zenkai Battle Royale game to the consoles? Why invest in a totally new game…

Still…I like what I see….destructible environments, huge ki blasts, and decent cel shading

    • Well, you destructible environments, huge ki blasts and decent cel shading?

A simple order no doubt and mostly confirmed. It seems that Spike really wants to deliver. Yes, the clash destroyed a large part of the arena and left it that way for the rest of the match. Pretty awesome :)

      • Yu_TheKing

Definitely seems Raging Blast-ish but also seems very promising.

    • Aara_Malik_Davoodi

To be fair, the behind-the-back camera started in Budokai Tenkaichi, which came out years before UNS

  • papuruka

The game already looks like a stunner compared to previous installments, courtesy of the manga approach they’re going for. I’ll be (cautiously) anticipating this :)

    Also, lol at Goku’s man-boobs.

  • Manga based? So it will cover the entire storyline?

    • Guest

Means no filler or filler characters

      • ForeverFidelis

        No Brolly, no sale!

        • And no “What if” stories where Goku’s dad becomes good when he realizes he is a grandfather?!

          • Let’s keep it canon, while we’re at it!

          • LynxAmali

No thank you. That was one of my favorite things about the Raging Blast games were the what if scenarios.

Why not just run off with Budokai 3? I still play the crap out of that. Also; praying for this being an RPG.

        • Guest

Super DBZ was manga based but had some extra things in it

    • Aara_Malik_Davoodi

I hope it covers the whole storyline, but it could very easily just cover through Cell Games. Many other games have done that

  • Namco just take BT3 improve the graphics, and add a bigger more destructible environment. Thinking you need to recreate the game engine every other game is not going to help you. Take what works and improve on it.

    • Guest

That’s Spike (the developer). Namco (publisher) could just as well hire Dimps again, or Namco in house team like Zenkai Battle Royale (which once again….WHY aren’t they just porting THAT game? It runs off of PS3 hardware.

      • Since this one is a PS360 game while DB Zenkai Battle Royale would only be PS3-only…

        • Guest

          ugh…..porting is not impossible.

  • Kitsune Miku

    Still no RPG? Not interested…

    • Guest

did you play the Nintendo DS RPG?

  • I might have more faith if all the other DBZ games for this generation weren’t absolutely horrific…

  • andref

I suppose I’ll put this on my list since I skipped last year’s raging blast 2…. It’s so hard to play each DBZ game that comes out consecutively; I would get sick of DBZ games for good

  • Combat system does look at least different this time.

  • Oh wow, a Super Saiyan fight! x3

    I hope we’d see a Spirit Bomb cutscene :3.

  • Having not ever followed Dragon Balls whatsoever… why exactly would he be firing a former king of Hawaii at someone?

    • Code

Why wouldn’t you fire the former king of Hawaii at someone?

      • hush404

        That’s what I was wondering!

I personally do it as often as I possibly can, every day of my life.

Kame Hame Ha (Turtle wave attack)

      • Aara_Malik_Davoodi

More like Turtle Destruction Wave, but yes :3

        • Guest

Toriyama’s wife came up with the idea and the stance for the attack :P

          • Aara_Malik_Davoodi

Yeah, I remember reading that. I want to meet his wife and see if she’s really cooky

  • dusk

The previous attempts were to make it “anime-like” in terms of presentation. Now it’s “manga feel”. What’s next? A realistic toy/figurine-like visual, or lego style?

  • kupomogli

Since it’s once again based on the Tenkaichi series, hopefully it’s just as good as they are. Neither Raging Blast game was as good as Tenkaichi 3, but the first one was pretty good.

    • Aara_Malik_Davoodi

Raging Blast was like an updated version of Tenkaichi 3. What made it worse to you?

  • hush404

Nice :) I hope it shakes things up a bit and isn’t exactly like the older games, gameplay wise.

  • Draparde

Hmm from these screen shots it looks like they fixed one of the problems i had with Raging blast 1&2. the energy based attacks look much stronger.

  • I’m not really digging the shading style of the game, but its bearable. What makes no sense is that HUD. I hope this plays more like Budokai or Raging Blast than Tenkaichi.
