Capcom Prepared To Shock Gamers With Ixion Saga?

ixionCapcom appears to have another new IP in the works on top of Dragon’s Dogma and Asura’s Wrath. There’s a trademark for Ixion Saga filed by Capcom in Japan.

While this may bring up memories of an electric unicorn, I believe Capcom’s Ixion Saga is tied to the blasphemous Greek mythology character. Ixion killed his father in law, was branded an outlaw for committing the first act of murder, and then made a pass for Zeus’ wife after the king of the gods invited him to Olympus out of pity. Things… did not go well for Ixion afterwards. As punishment, Ixion was tied to a fiery wheel to burn for all of eternity.

If Capcom sticks to the source material don’t count on Ixion Saga being a family friendly game.

image In addition to the trademark, Capcom also registered a domain for, which currently points nowhere. Perhaps, this is an announcement further down the road? It took half a year for Capcom to reveal Dragon’s Dogma after we discovered a trademark for it.

A tip of the hat and Thor’s hammer to Liam for the tip about the domain name!

  • Possibly Greek mythology related? Count me in.

  • I wonder how much they’ll charge for downloadable punishments for Ixion

Dragon’s Dogma looks unbelievable, as does Asura’s Wrath.  If this is the new Capcom, I’ll take more please.

  • Why am I getting this image #IxionSaga is gonna be a God of War-like, by the virtue of being based in Greek mythology?

How about a Shiva or a Ifrit game?

  • This is going to end up like Rock of the Ages, where you roll around destroying things as a man tied to a flaming wheel.

Let me guess, then Ixion escapes from Hades and goes on a quest to get revenge on the gods. Sounds very original and fresh.

loving some western mythologies(except for Asura’s Wrath) hmm Capcom :P
