Magical Drop V Bounces Onto PC First, But It’s Coming To Consoles Too

By Spencer . June 9, 2011 . 12:45am

magic1 Magical Drop V, a brand new game from the Data East series of the same name, is in development. It’s one of the titles Ignition has on display at E3. Ignition negotiated out a deal with G-mode, the Japanese mobile phone company that owns many former Data East titles, to create Magical Drop V.

The game has all new artwork and four player co-op. While there is a story, it’s light compared to Magical Drop F, the PsOne game MonkeyPaw brought overseas. Magical Drop V was designed to feel more like an arcade game.

Ignition will release Magical Drop V for PC late this year. It’s coming to consoles too, but Ignition didn’t specify which system(s?) will get Magical Drop V.

Oh… one more thing about Magical Drop V, it’s going to be cheap. Less than $10 cheap.

I hope it’s closer to MDIII than F.  Now just need Puyo Puyo Sun to show up on PSN and XBLA.

    • I think you’ll be happy then… it’s not like F at all.

What did you not like about F?  I loved MDIII to death, but I thought MDF was basically just MDIII with a bunch more stuff, including a cute story mode and more characters.  MDF is actually my favorite puzzle game of all time.

F is a bit easier, and the special items and things kinda water it down a little to.  Three just felt like a more pure arcade experience, and in general was a game I liked replaying more.  Truth be told I haven’t played either game in years, but going off of memories.

    BEST OF E3 2011

I don’t mind a HD remake of III. That was obviously the best in the series and one of the best puzzler ever.

  • Sold. I love the Magical Drop series. I hope it reaches Steam.

    • That would surprise me…but in an age where Recettear makes it, I guess it shouldn’t.

      But yea, similarly sold.

  • As a fan of puzzle games, I’m sold.

  • Sold, no matter which platform.

Less than 10$ cheap? Yeah~ If it’s that easy on the wallet, I won’t mind picking it up when it comes to a console I own. :3
