Who’s Remastering All Of These Games For PlayStation 3?

By Spencer . June 12, 2011 . 3:00pm

Sony has two collections of remastered games this year — Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection and God of War Origins Collection. Neither title is internally developed within any of Sony Computer Entertainment’s studios.

Bluepoint Games, the studio that worked on the first God of War Collection, is developing both of those titles. In addition, the Texas-based studio is also working on the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for Konami. That’s… a lot of HD ports.

Before getting into ports, Bluepoint Games developed the downloadable twin stick shooter Blast Factor for PlayStation Network.

all i ask is for a kingdom hearts HD remake and a Persona HD remake and the world will be a better place :)

    • WonderSteve

Oh I am sure Square wouldn’t disappoint you with the Kingdom Hearts one.

      I wouldn’t bet money on PE3 or PE4 though.

      • Gelsa

As I’ve heard it Disney no longer owns the rights to Tarzan so a Kingdom Hearts 1 HD port/remake is very unlikely.

      • lostinblue

Well… They’d spend years doing it.

    • DanteJones

Ahh, Kingdom Hearts HD would make my day, I totally agree. :D

    • Blue_card_

A Persona HD remake would be nice, but I’d like to see a Digital Devil Saga HD or a Raidou Kuzunoha HD remake since they’re so under appreciated compared to Persona. :)

Indeed The Digital Devil Saga games should be given another chance to shine and about Persona well we only need Persona 2 EP and Persona 4 on PSP for the set to be complete. Persona 3 has already been done quite a lot.

    • Ravage27

I would love to have a Persona HD collection but it’s pretty unlikely seeing how we already have P3P for the PSP and P4P will probably come out on Vita.

As for a Kingdom Heart HD collection, wow what would i give indeed…

  • [The Hunter] Doomrider

    Credit where credit is due.

Great idea for a post. I have heard their name before (when GoW HD came out, if I’m not mistaken), but I didn’t really memorize it at the time. Out of all the recent articles about HD collections that I read, I don’t think any of them mentioned Bluepoint Games. That probably leads people to think they’re done in-house, which is not really the case.

  • WonderSteve

What about RE4? Is Capcom doing it on their own?

  • daizyujin

Well other than the use of crappy SD fmv clips the GOW collection on PS3 was pretty well done and Blast Factor was a cool game.  So hopefully that means something.

That being said, I don’t want to see this become a trend. There are a few games here and there that are good enough to get this treatment but HD Remakes should be reserved for the very few deserving titles.  Not just for artificially inflating the game count of a system.

I say bring as many as possible. I’d love to see a Suikoden HD Collection, a Persona HD Collection, a Xenosaga HD Collection, and an Ar Tonelico HD Collection. If I liked a game, I don’t mind playing through it again, but earning trophies this time.

Plus, it gives PS3 owners who might not have been able to pick up a game on PSP or PS3 a chance to play a game they might not have otherwise.

Re: #Suikoden HD — up to Konami to see if it’s financially viable.

Re: Persona HD — Atlus is still testing the HD waters.  Too early to tell, as of this writing.

Re: Xenosaga and Ar tonelico HD collections — I have a feeling Namco Bandai will be extremely reluctant about these 2, given how they don’t see these two franchises as financially viable at Dragonball- and Naruto- levels.

        • HistorysGreatestMonster

Didn’t say I expected to see these. I said I want to see them. Unfortunately, in most of these cases, it’s two different things.

          • http://www.youtube.com/B4ULoveShine Tim_at_where

Yeah, I forgot to tell you earlier those were just my opinions/forecasts.  >_<

      • Draparde

A suikoden HD collection followed by a VI would cleanly blow my mind to tiny bits….just letting you know.

        • http://chaosthethird.tumblr.com Kermit

Can we just get Suikoden II on PSN first? I mean, seriously, what’s the damn hold up?

  • thaKingRocka

The God of War Collection was a much better experience for me than the games were in their original form. I liked it better than 3 also. Mainly, this is because I love a solid framerate of 60+. GoW deserves 60fps at all times, and I think it was foolish to settle for 30 with 3. I would gladly have taken off a few bells and whistles in exchange for a better framerate, but I know that’s not how everyone feels.

  • Kirbysuperstar2

I panicked a little bit at first, “Oh God no, don’t tell me it’s TOSE!”. I’m glad to be mistaken.

  • ForeverFidelis

    I mean, geez

    I wonder if anyone’s suggested “Hey let’s make a FF7 HD remake”

Something like that, regardless of how badly done the remake is would sell probably 4 times as much as the combined total of sales every mcdonalds across America has in a month

    • cmurph666

SE has been afraid of money lately.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/EnvyMizuhashi Garyuu

Honestly, considering that SE has put a FF7 “remake” on chain restraints, I don’t so much as need a FF7 “HD” if the game’s already on PSN.

Dissidia, however, is a different story.

      • Draparde

i’d love to see an HD dissidia, watching recorded fights from the game on my ps3 made me want that lol

  • banballow

HD port of the Dreamcast’s Illbleed please?

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/jodecideion?feature=mhum TheWon and Only

Well that’s good to hear if you going to be lazy at least get the bench players to do it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Guy-Wesley/1371955184 Guy Wesley

Does this mean that Bluepoint Games is also responsible for developing the Zone of the Enders Collection, too? I’m just wondering.

  • Zal_Yagun

I’m happy that some of the HD ports are Mutiplatform. I liked Beyond Good and Evil and but I’m glad I held off buying ZOE and MGS2. If FFXII, Okami, Odin Sphere get Mutiplatfom HDports, My next 5 years would be glorious

  • Souji Tendou

Come oooon Capcom, I want Devil May Cry series and Onimusha series getting an HD remaster treatment.

    • http://www.youtube.com/B4ULoveShine Tim_at_where

Specifically about Onimusha, I have a feeling Capcom will have to pay royalties to Takeshi Kaneshiro, just for an Onimusha HD remaster, outside of Dawn of Dreams.

  • PrinceHeir

kinda surprised this is not from japan that’s doing the port.

as long as MGS and ZOE are 60FPS in HD i’ll be gladly buy 2 of these for safe keeping :P

for me i want a Xenosaga Collection, Final Fantasy X,X-2, XII, Dirge of Cerberus Collection(please International Version with dual audio and subs please),

Resident Evil 1 and 0 Collection(just make it HD and widescreen this time), Kingdom Hearts Collection(same thing as FF Collection), Shin Megami and Persona Collection, Onimusha Collection,

Legacy of Kain Collection, Hitman Collection will probably be done by Eidos themselves.

    Fatal Frame Collection(doubt it :),

2 HD remakes I would love to see is from PS2 era and more specifically from original XBOX. Those 2 titles are the criminally overlooked Otogi 1 & 2 from Sega (From Software developers) and maybe throw in a “HD” Metal Wolf Chaos as a bonus too ;)
