Solatorobo: Red The Hunter Soaring To North America

By Spencer . June 16, 2011 . 11:02am

SolatoroboJPBoxShotDSWe’ve been waiting to tell Siliconera readers that, yes, Solatorobo: Red the Hunter is coming to North America.

A spiritual successor to Tail Concerto, Solatorobo follows Red Savarin, a dog-like character, who lives on an island in the sky. Here’s a bunch of localized screenshots from the European version and our previous coverage of the Nintendo DS game.

I played an English version… You’ll hear more soon…

  • Smashing news, epically, phenomenally, amazing awesome! Mr Spencer brought the news, love you to deaths!!!!

  • XSeed

    • Namco Bandai Games America is obviously out of the question, since they only care more about million-dollar/million-copy (unit) sellers like Tekken, Dragonball, and Naruto.

So yeah, I too hope XSEED would land the US publishing rights for this.

  • I’m thrilled to hear this!

  • Guest

    Great news. Game looks good

  • malek86

That’s great news for DSi/3DS owners. And for everyone else too, considering that importing from Europe is pretty expensive anyway.

    • Exkaiser

      Edit: Nevermind, then.

      • Solatorobo is one of those DSi-enhanced, region-locked games, just FYI.

        • Exkaiser

          Ah, alright.

  • IsaacGravity

    Very good news!

  • Interface23

  • I’m pretty sure that this is one of XSEED’s upcoming projects. They have been pretty awesome lately.

    Looking forward to it!

    • Yep if they continue this way and add a couple of rated T/M games to their line up they can become almost like Atlus.

      • epy

Atlus USA has been very lacking as of late though… or maybe thats just me being bitter about Luminous Arc 3, Endless Frontier 2 and all those unlocalized Growlanser games.

In either case, XSEED surpassed Atlus USA in my eyes ever since they started bringing us Falcom goodness.

    • It is.

  • YESSSSS!! I can’t believe it. I was so close to importing it from Europe but to have it come here its even better. I’ll pre-order on when it comes up. I wonder who the publisher is my first thought was XSeed Games.

  • puchinri

Who is it being published/localized by? But that is fantastic news, I’m really excited Hopefully we’ll get all the special/limited edition stuff too…

    • Xseed, it seems.

      • puchinri

I just caught sight of that about an hour ago~. That just makes things even better. I really do hope they keep all the limited edition. Though they could always add more if they want, I wouldn’t complain…

  • So all we need now is Xenoblade and Last Story and everything will be cool.

    • Exkaiser

All we need is Metal Max 3 and everything will be cool, more like.

    • dont forget pandora tower too

  • Phoenix_Apollo

    Oh my god. /buybuybuy

    Hope it’s coming this year!

  • While waiting occidental releases , i just done an unboxing of the japanese collector’s edition (in french) if someone is interested into it.

For any preorders of it 2 postcard and one additionnal soundtrack were also joined.

The game is pretty correct for an action-rpg and animes sequences are without any doubt a plus.

Tail Concerto characters are coming back as guest-stars which will probably make old fans happy , one very familiar city is also included in the game ;)

  • godmars

    Hello mister DS!

Anyone know if there’s a full art book?

  • Cool so the DS is at least getting some localization love in the US.

  • TomSkylark

That’s a relief! Its release in the US seemed a bit yiff-y, but now it’s coming here fur sure.

  • Yessssssss.

  • Rihawf

    I’d buy it. >_>

  • It’s good to know we have Xseed to pick up where Atlus decided to drop the ball. Who needs them these days?

    • I like Atlus. :<
The original stuff they have make up for lack of pick-ups.

    • Zero_Destiny

Fans of MegaTen and other games they produced and license like the Trauma Center games. ^_^

      • As a fan of Megami Tensei, the series is a pale imitation of what it used to be.

        • How can it be pale if it gets good reviews?  I admit I didn’t play much of the pre-Nocturne/Persona 1 releases (localize and will come, only picked up the fan-translated SMT I-II) but geez it is only pale to you IMO.  I rather play MegaTen over many of the RPG series active today.

        • Zero_Destiny

Hm I’m still happy to get the games regardless of the whole they changed it and now it sucks thing some people believe in. I view each game on a case by case bases and can easily find that each games is unique and interesting. I don’t think MegaTen has gone in a bad direction if I can be bold to say.

But then again I wasn’t a fan of the 1st person RPG mechanics used in most of the earlier games until recently so I’m not a beckon of knowledge on the subject. Likewise I’m still rather new to MegaTen in general but if I had to pick then I’d take games like Strange Journey over Shine Megami Tensei I and II any day of the week.

As for the changes to PERSONA. I understand that the games are totally different after P3 but I think the Post P3 PERSONA games are incredibly fun and unique.

We have Different opinions on the matter I suppose. You as an older fan feel disappointed with the newer ones while me as a newer fan find the newer stuff even more compelling and fun then most of the older stuff I have given a go. That’s perfectly fine too. :D In fact I’m on the opposite side for Final Fantasy where I feel disappointed with the newer stuff. But please keep in mind that the newer stuff has its’ fans too. Lots of fans actually. I may not like what they have done to Final Fantasy post VI but I’m not gonna go around and say who needs Square anyways. I understand that the games have their fans and just because I’m not really one of them anymore doesn’t mean that their doing something wrong.

So to end this pointless and silly rant of mine just remember that while you may not feel that their recent practices may be up to snuff that other people out there may feel differently. We all like different things and that’s OK. But as it stands now I still like Atlus quite a lot and thus I replied my original message to you. Just remember that. ^_^

rar, awesome >w<~! I'm curious as to who will be doing the localizing for it in North America owo;; It may be late in the DS's life, but I'm happy to see this game manage to get localized here!

  • Glad u USBros are getting this game as well :) But you could for a while feel what it actually felt like being an european jrpg gamer during the whole 90’s era :3

    •  That would be true if there weren’t still loads of DS RPGs that have yet to be released in the EU, most notably Atlus games.

  • kylehyde

Awesome news to me. I’m excited and normally in moments like this the ode to joy pop up in my mind, however ths time for some stranger reason the song that has pop up un my mind is Amerika of Rammstein, I blame my cousin for this, she spend the weekend on my house and she only listened rammstein.

Anyway I’m glad and DS users that are living on the Americas (north, latin, whatever) are going to get this game.

  • As a french i wish to have a Xseed like distributor , most of great rpg (Ys serie , Lunar remake , etc…) has been localized to US which doesn’t disturb me by playing but become expensive by importing the games , and god prices are gorgeous !

@godmars : based my knowledge no artbook has been announced yet but i’m pretty sure you could find an artbook showing Nobuteru Yūki work who is the common character designer of Tail Concerto et Solatorobo.

  • epy

Awesome! Not in my DS’ “Dammit! Localize it already!!” Top 5 but certainly in the Top 10. Hope this is not the last announcement we get fro the DS before it fades away.
