It started out as a launch window game, but Cave Story 3D is now a holiday season title. NIS America pushed Quote’s journey into the third dimension back to November 8. NIS America will use the extra time to improve the game.
“We are currently undergoing improvements to enhance gameplay," said Jack Niida, Producer. "Changes are in the small details, but in order to satisfy both the fans and the new players we need to make sure the game is done right. Please look forward to it this holiday season."
"I learned a lot after releasing Cave Story for DSiWare and WiiWare. There were a lot of positive comments, but there were other people who didn’t like the graphic style. I thought [Cave Story 3D] was a chance to go from 2D to 3D for new players," Daisuke "Pixel" Amaya said in a Siliconera interview. I played a very early build of Cave Story 3D afterward and it the first cave felt just like Cave Story with a 2.5D perspective. Cave Story 3D was not shown at E3.
