Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk-2 Uses The PS3′s Photo Gallery In A New Way

By Spencer . June 28, 2011 . 2:22am

imageHyperdimension Neptunia took photos and turned them into (weak) summons. Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk-2 uses the PlayStation 3′s photo gallery with the new costume canvas system.

It’s possible to reskin processor unit parts and the body texture of the game’s characters. Compile Heart plan to release textures on the game’s official site. Dengeki PlayStation also discussed the event trigger system, which uses a Twitter-like interface. Click on event icons to see story scenes play out. It’s possible to get rare items and learn powerful skills by using this system.

The story of Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk-2 begins at the Gameindustri Graveyard where the four goddesses are defeated by Magic the Hand. One of the goddesses is cradling a baby in their arms, which is believed to be Nepgear, the main character in the sequel. Years later, Nepgear meets Neptune’s friends IF-chan and Compa who accompany her on a journey.

Ok, so after some years the baby grows up into a young girl, while everyone else just remains the same as before?

I call it the Schulz syndrome.

If they got any older they would be grannies.

You don’t want grannies in your JRPGs, do you?

      • malek86

If only a few years pass, they would be milfs. I see nothing wrong with that.

You have a point there, good sir. I shall reconsider my ethical position in this matter and return when I have found answers to this dilemma.

They DO look more mature. Not so much IF and Compa, but the four goddesses do actually. Look closer and pay more attention.

      • wat_wat

I wouldn’t mind. At least it would be new and different from the usual moe-anime stuff in 90% of jrpg’s currently on the market.

        • raymk

Different for the sake of being different isn’t always a good thing.

          • wat_wat

Very true. I’m only speaking for myself, but they’d have to do something different to catch my interest. Grannies kicking ass and saving the world would be a start.

        • puchinri

          That would be pretty awesome.

Still waiting for late adult MC

      A woman has their secrets… i guess.

If they don’t get older I call it an error of the developer team.

  • RagnaXBL

so if we use skin colour pics we can have them naked?

  • Mister_Nep

How long before somebody does nude skins? I’m betting 5 minutes.

    • http://strictlyapathy.comoj.com/ SoulArbiter

I was just wondering that myself.

    • maxchain

They’ll probably predate the game itself somehow.

I take it that it was be the first thing Japanese people would do when they receive the game. After all they already got their audience with this kind of content.

Well since Goddesses dont age I guess its alright  to keep them young

  • http://twitter.com/MycuLong Michael Luong

Someone care to humor me as to why IF and Compa look the same age as the previous game? Or is it that goddesses grow up fast but stay forever 17? Either that or I must be drunk.

    • Rihawf

That must be the Spiran illness, from FFX-2. Look for Lulu especially.

  • Darkrise

Seems a little lazy with re-using the same model of Compa and every other character from the previous game. =/ But it’s fine if the game is much more improved than the 1st.

    • http://www.nisamerica.com NickyD

The models are improved, though I still don’t know if this is a retcon or direct sequel… either way, a little visual alteration would be nice instead of strict texture/existing design improvements.

  • Rihawf

Compa seems to have a special medicine, a no-age-for-years medicine.
