PsOne Imports Are Back And The Meatiest PS1 Game Is Coming Next Week

By Spencer . July 2, 2011 . 6:03pm

Sure, MonkeyPaw games is developing BurgerTime World Tour, but they haven’t abandoned their mission of distributing PsOne imports. Next week, two games from Japan will be available for the first time in North America as digital downloads. Get ready for The Rapid Angel and 2011′s summer grilling game Yakiniku Bugyou!

Yakiniku Bugyou, which is something like BBQ Meat for the Magistrate has players grill meat. Think of it, perhaps, as a PsOne precursor to Cooking Mama. The game went on to get a Japan-only sequel for PlayStation 2.

The Rapid Angel is like a sprite beat ‘em up made for the PsOne.

Not to say that I like the look of the games (just not my style) I’m glad they are FINALLY updating the Imports section, geez they last released Megaman 3 like what 4 months ago?

It isn’t Moon Remix RPG Adventure, but Yakiniku Bugyou might interest my sister (who likes the Mama series) and Rapid Angel seems decent.

I miss PsOne games. The Rapid Angel looks like Sailor Moon went tomboy ninja on everybody’s azz.

The Rapid Angel is fantastic! I got it off the HK store about a year ago. The game is soo good! Anyone interested don’t hesitate to buy it!

The Angel thingy seems to be fun.

    I will play them both. PS1 <3

Rapid Angel has really stiff animations, but seems to make up with quantity(she can also block!). Kinda reminds me of SNES Ninja Warriors but with platforming. Also I’m a fan of retro anime, so Imma pick it up. :D

Cool, I was just talking to my friend about when we’d start seeing more imports on PSN.

    Keep them coming!

I’m highly offended by that kitty murderer scene in the Rapid Angel video (2.35).

They need to bring over Slap Happy Rhythym Busters and Devilman

As long as we’re suggesting PS1 titles… Community POM, Adventure of Little Ralph, Adventures of Robin Lloyd and Addie’s Present, please! (:

  • Phoenix_Apollo

I legitimately hope they get Overblood 2 on PSN some day.

Holy crap, I can’t believe someone’s actually bringing over Rapid Angel! Really great game — a bit rough around the edges, but there are SO MANY PLAYABLE CHARACTERS and SO MANY STORY PATHS that it’s really something anime fans will eat up, I think. It’s pretty unique as brawlers go, in that you can essentially play the game from the protagonist’s perspective, then replay it from the ANTAGONIST’S perspective.

Highly recommended for brawler fans and hardcore anime otaku.

The Rapid Angel’s opening theme is amazing. They just don’t make anime like they used to (which I guess is a good thing…sometimes XD )

I couldn´t find a video of the psx gameplay, however the one for ps2 looks tasty *¬*

I still say Ore no Ryouri (also available in Japan’s Game Archives) is the best cooking game ever, PSX or not. :)
