Electronic Arts Bets Rings On Sega To Expand Their Presence In Japan

By Spencer . July 4, 2011 . 11:25pm

shadowsStarting with Shadows of the Damned, Sega will act as a distributor for Electronic Arts titles in Japan. The two companies signed an agreement, which will have Sega distribute EA’s games beginning in August.

The two companies have come a long way from when Electronic Arts released unlicensed Genesis cartridges in North America. Sega has similar distribution deals with Japanese publishers including Alchemist, Codemasters, Cyberfront, and Arc System Works.

Shadows of the Damned comes out in Japan on September 22. Electronic Arts also plans on releasing FIFA and Battlefield 3 in the region.

Lets hope SOTD sells better in Japan then the UK because that was shockingly bad.

Speaking of Sega, I guess we get nothing for NiGHTS’s anniversary? No word on that~?
And I still need to pick up my copy of SotD.
(Or switch the reserve I had for it over to Asura’s Wrath and just get it whenever…)

Seems like Nights anniversary isn’t as special as Sonic’s anniversary. >:(

      • Well that is like saying Metroid’s anniversary isn’t as special as Mario.
Wait, Nintendo didn’t celebrate that well either…

I remember the little comic showing everyone celebrating Mario and Samus sitting alone at a cake and singing to herself… That was sad.
I would hope they’d do something, but maybe they think the Metroid Prime collection counts and they were just getting to Metroid sooner. …=n=
The weird part is, Mario and Sonic seem to have the exact same amount of time between them and NiGHTS and Metroid (1981, 1991 to 1986, 1996).
Could Samus and NiGHTS be each other’s twin souls!? (I want to make a dualizing joke, but I can’t find it.)

I know, I am so disappoint. ono

That’s nice and all. So who’s publishing Sega’s games in the west? They’re starting to become the new Bamco…

    • EA should pick up some titles in return for this deal, they have the marketing power and interests in Japan stuff… plus VC has guns that is hot in the US.

    • what Sega games aren’t coming west?
