Golden Axe And Altered Beast Ready To Beat Up PSN

alterSince we’re on a nostalgia trip with Chrono Cross and Urban Champion news, now is probably a good time to mention Sega plans on expanding the Sega Vintage Collection on PlayStation 3.

Dragon riding beat ‘em up Golden Axe will be re-released on PlayStation Network. No armor or shirts, required. Sega is bringing the arcade version to PlayStation Network.

Altered Beast (the arcade version) and the Genesis cult-classic Comix Zone will be available later this summer. Sega made the announcement in Japan, but Vintage Collection games tend to get international releases.

Thanks, I’ll be picking up both Golden Axe and Altered Beast (Arcade versions!). I do hope in future they also release more arcade games anything from Alien Storm, Power Drift to Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death of Adder and Outrunners!

No, the arcade version is shorter. Overall, I like the Genesis version better, but the arcade version is a bit prettier.

Altered Beast was awesome! I forgot all about that game. I’m surprised it hasn’t been rebooted.

Well there was a PS2 Altered Beast. I don’t know about the story, but the gameplay was largely different.

SEGA totally missed theit chance to throw out another Altered Beast when Billy Herrington was still hot in Japan.

The GBA game was pretty cool. My nephew really liked it.

Woah, I totally missed that one, thanks.
The character models look atrocious though.
