Play As Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes NPCs In PS3/Wii Re-release

By Spencer . July 7, 2011 . 1:02am

Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes is heading back to stores in Japan this fall with bonus content. Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes Party (aka Sengoku Basara 3 Utage in Japan) adds a handful of new characters.

If you played the original game on either PlayStation 3 or Wii you may remember NPCs like Kobayakawa Hideaki and the monk Tenkai. Both of these characters are playable in Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes Party. Mogami Yoshiaki, Tachibana Muneshige, and Otomo Sorin are also playable.

Capcom added a few characters from the Japan-only game Sengkou Basara 2 Heroes like Katakura Kojuro, Matsunage Hisahide, and Sarutobi Sasuke to the mix too. The theme of Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes Party is drama meets party. This game will have lighthearted side stories and events.

Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes Party is in development for PlayStation 3 and Wii. While Capcom brought the original title overseas, this re-release has not been announced for North America or Europe.

I enjoyed playing the origonal. i hope it did well enough to warrent the series starting to come out in the US more. looking at the amount of characters the second game had it makes me want to play as them lol.

New returning characters are always nice! i hope they keep adding until the cast count surpasses the other games in the series!

    • Tsuruhime

Complete opposite actually, Capcom USA really doesn’t even want anything to with BASARA anymore. :/ It’s a shame.

      • Draparde

Aww, that really does suck. i guess i can be happy with having had at least one of them come to the west lol

  • Well if they release it over seas a lot would be happy.

    • BGMcDF

I know of at least three people offline, many more online. Seriously in massive WANT of it to come back overseas. Got into BASARA in ’07ish and have done everything I could to support it. Will continue to do so.

  • yeah I felt robbed as usual that they were NPC’s their models were in the game, and enemies, and even playable in past games but not in this game. If it comes overseas, I will surely support. also too bad none of them were in mvc 3. feels like the basara and monster hunter universes fit well into an over the top fighting game.

  • Sorin Otomo? That would be amazing :D Not getting my hopes up, but if they give this as DLC, I’ll bite.

  • Where’s Kasuga? Also Toshiie and Matsu, but especially Kasuga.

  • KyoyaHibari

I’ll consider it, unless they bring the 2nd PSP game overseas.

  • Kuro666

Capcom does bad localizations, so I’ll just stick with buying Wii version of this one.
Or maybe I’ll buy PS3 ver. for playing on my second console(which is on OFW).

    • brain_cleanser

What do you mean Capcom does bad localizations? I’ve never seen anything particularly bad about what they’ve done, outside of hilariously bad dialouge, but with a game like BASARA (or even Resident Evil, which is like a B-Movie in video game form) it works.

      • I didn’t see anything major inside BASARA besides a few spelling/grammar mistakes. Plus in-between battles, some of the characters/NPCs will say a few extra words than what text is actually on the screen.

        • brain_cleanser

Yeah, but now a days subtitles and spoken lines matching aren’t that uncommon, which is strange, and typos run rampant in the strategy guide industry, so Capcom might just be trying to keep up.

no japanese voice no buy… if they even bring it here

    • I actually enjoyed the dubbing for Samurai Heroes, outside of Kenshin’s voice. My new love for Troy Baker stemmed mostly from his role as Mitsunari than anything else that he’s done. And Laura Bailey’s work for Oichi was fantastic too.

lol Tho the Engrish from Nakai-sama is totally missed. :( If Capcom did release it, it’ll probably be English only again because of the “we don’t want one version to be superior over the other” thing again. :'(

      • BGMcDF

The dub was decent to good in places, but it doesn’t help that the original Japanese cast is absolutely amazing. And just as a personal preference, I’d like samurai in a Sengoku-era Japan to speak their native tongue.

When did you get into Basara, Fel?

        • Always had been into since the release of Devil Kings. lol Just didn’t follow it as often as DW/SW because of Capcom’s lack of advertising and localizations of the other SB titles.

          • BGMcDF

Should have imported! S’what I did. Looking back on the expenses, perhaps it’s for the best you didn’t.

          • lol it’s really hard to import titles when either 1) you spend too much money on English translated games/manga/anime titles or 2) didn’t have a job. XD That.. plus I don’t mod anything I own.. so that’s another reason.

  • Ryudo9

I loved heroes and will buy again. Just have doubts it will come stateside

  • Doubt this one will come over here! The first version was good english dub and all. To bad they still didn’t put online on this game. I would consider importing just to play online with someone. Maybe with the WiiU and PS3 or 4 in the future.

    • Tsuruhime

The release date on the Japanese website says 2011, so I doubt it’s going to take time. It’s just an update to SB3.

  • *Twirls mustache*
    Yoshiaki Mogami, you say?
“Would anyone care for a cup of tea?”

  • ForeverFidelis

    Sasuke and Tenkai?

    Aww yeah

The ps3 is region free, right?

    • Souji Tendou

Yep, it’s Region free. Happy importing, if you don’t feel like waiting for localization announcement.

  • This better be coiming to the UK, I loved SB3 and was glad to get it after them not releasing 2 over here.

  • JMK

    No Kasuga, no buy.

  • I dearly hope that it releases internationally! This is like the best game ever and they’re not keeping it from me! My last resort is to learn Japanese! XD haha But first, I’d like to play as Sarutobi Sasuke in peace! Without reading subs. 3;
