One Piece: Gigant Battle 2 New World Stretches Onto Nintendo DS

By Spencer . July 10, 2011 . 2:28pm

imageGanbarion is making a sequel to their Jump Ultimate Stars style One Piece game. Jump has a spread on One Piece: Gigant Battle 2 New World, which has over 40 battle characters. Add in support characters and the Nintendo DS game has over 100 characters from One Piece.

This game takes place after Luffy and crew visit the New World. Ganbarion is creating new stages for the game to fit this One Piece story arc.

One Piece: Gigant Battle 2 will be available in Japan this fall. Namco Bandai localized the first title and brought it to Europe just a few days ago.

  • Over 100 characters?! Wow, this is the One Piece game of the ages. I wonder what skills Zoro & Sanji have.

As long as Franky’s nose can somehow be incorperated into an attack, I’m all in.

  • Christian Wright

where can i get a european copy of the first?

  • I haven’t even got the first one yet. D:

Kinda hard to see where a New World setting One Piece game would be since they’re technically still at the border of the New World(fishman island arc), and have yet to truly enter. We’ve also yet to really see half of what they picked up skills/ability wise since the time skip as well.

Still though, long haired Nami-swan is yum.

I loved both Jump Stars games (a third game with an even larger character list would be great), so this definately looks interesting. I’d probably wait on the sequel being localized though since it has twice the playable roster. Nice that it’s on the region free DS.

The DS is probably going to be like the GBA, which still got a bunch of licensed games well after the DS had settled in.

Really odd that their using the post-timeskip crew and characters since we barely know any of their new attacks yet.

I highly doubt Oda is wasting his precious time helping them create a canon moveset either…

    • true true. Im guessing first game sold well enough to rush out a second game lol

  • Alright. Whats it gonna take for us to have a ONE PIECE FIGHTING GAME WITH NARUTO STORM GRAPHICS AND ULTIMATES!

  • The first game was soooo fun. But I dont think story has developed enough to make a new world squeal. Maybe we will see whats up with zoro left eye :)

  • …i’m all for this too, but i’d rather see a proper Grand Battle title on the 3DS. arena free-for-all is the way to go. ^_^
