Cave-Chan Ready To Shoot Down Arfoire In Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk-2

By Spencer . July 12, 2011 . 12:01am

caveDengeki PlayStation revealed a newcomer to the world of Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk-2. Cave-chan joins the game as a character in Leanbox, the Xbox-like video game world. Cave-chan has shoulder length red hair tied in pigtails. Her outfit is something like a leotard with a corset on top and a hip length skirt.

Cave-chan’s role is to maintain the order in Leanbox by fulfilling her role as a shooter by flying around the world. Cave, of course, is known for their arcade shooting games like Deathsmiles, Guwange, and Espgaluda. Cave is best friends with 5pb-chan who is also resides in Leanbox. Makoto Asada thought that Cave-chan would be a macho character and was surprised to discover she is actually cute.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk-2 comes out on August 18 in Japan.

    No problem!

No pictures or screenshots on how she looked like?

I’m wondering what other Japanese game developers they can include there. I’m wishing for Vanillaware (Vanilla-chan?). Or how about Grasshopper Manufacture (Grassy-chan!?!?)

    EDIT:
I think it’s okay to post a scan here. This is what Cave-chan looks like:

    Yeah, she’s cute.

(special thanks to xizro345 of Gamefaqs for the scan)

Imagine From Software-kun. Either a knight like in Demon’s Souls? Or a chibi Armored Core unit? Hmm…

I would love to see Falcom, but even Aquaplus could be a nice fit :P

  • maxchain

Will there be a Milestone-chan who’s suddenly decided she’s too cool to be seen hanging around on Lastation?

  • bVork

So who are the two fat guys near the top of the screenshot?

    hint for a PS3 game???

nah im reading it too much XD

    • Yukito

I was wondering about this myself…. I mean, Cave has been rather anti-PS3. It is sort of strange because 5pb was the same way, and all of a sudden, Dunamis 15 is coming to PS3, and they are giving Sony their own game, Beyond the Future Fix: The Time Arrow. It COULD be a hint. I felt it was strange when 5pb got a character, but Cave is even more anti-PS3 than 5pb, so it definitely seems weird.

      • PrinceHeir

well “Beyond the Future Fix: The Time Arrow.” was only published by 5pb.

        Rejet is the main developer

        http://www.siliconera.com/2011/04/26/beyond-the-future-fix-the-time-arrow-is-an-otome-game-from-rejet-and-5pb/

though Dunamis 15 is definitely the first 5pb PS3 game :P

but yeah 5pb CEO Chiyomaru Shikura has said in many interviews is that they plan on branching to other platforms in the near future so this could be a hint :P

        • john411

If you want to put it that way, Dunamis15 is *also* only published by 5pb. It’s developed by Division Zero, just like how Beyond the Future Fix is developed by Rejet.

5pb themselves have only developed EXCLUSIVELY for the 360 (and PSP and DS), and they’ll probably stay that way until the end of the generation, just like Cave ^_^

          • HistorysGreatestMonster

It isn’t developing exclusively for the 360 if they’re also developing for the PSP and DS.

      • Ladius

In Neptunia Mk2 Cave is a denizen of Leanbox, so it isn’t strange at all. You should look at the game’s theme rather than at the platform it runs on.

  • Darkrise

Really unexpected. 0.0 Licensing hell? But w/e, gl to NISA!

    • Ladius

Why should it be a licensing hell? :P They’re using a cameo character inspired by another company with the full consent of the company itself, it’s no different than what happened with Gust or 5pb in the first game.

  • AzureNova

This game just keeps getting better and better. Cant wait until it gets localized!

Are the videogame meta-references that weak throughout the whole game? Come on, a character representing cave is actually called… Cave-chan?

    Way to be subtle.

    • EusisLandale

Neptunia and subtlety don’t really mix. I find it to be part of the charm to be honest.

  • shy_mel

I’m confused as to why someone would think a character in this game would be macho.
