How Team Ninja Plans To Use Wii U’s New Controller For Ninja Gaiden 3

image Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge was one of the third party Wii U games shown during Nintendo’s E3 press conference. What exactly is it?

"Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge is still Ninja Gaiden 3, but we plan to utilize the new controller for the Wii U to do new things," said Yosuke Hayashi, Team Ninja head, in a Siliconera interview. "You may remember Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword for the Nintendo DS, we’re thinking implementing that kind of action and gameplay in an enhanced way for Wii U using the controller’s touch screen."

Team Ninja designed a unique control scheme for their Nintendo DS Ninja Gaiden game. Dragon Sword had players tap the screen to throw weapons and draw lines to make Ryu slash enemies with his sword. Ninpo was cast by tracing characters with the stylus.

The Wii U controller has dual analog sticks, d-pad, a familiar ABXY button layout, and a large touch screen. Before Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge comes out, Team Ninja will release Ninja Gaiden 3 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 early next year.

    I prefer to use the buttons. Let the touch gameplay only for the Ninja Gaiden DS, it doesn’t fit =S

    how about fixing the crappy camera or make a 2d ninja gaiden based storyline.

    It worked well for DS and I enjoyed the game but I can’t imagine something like that working on a more complex console game. Of course I don’t think they’re gonna have you playing exactly like the DS game so I’m interested in what they do.

    They probably will have us do gestures for ninpos ^^;
