Fox McCloud’s Buddies Fill Windows In Eco-Friendly 3DS Cases

By Spencer . July 14, 2011 . 12:55am

Nintendo designed their 3DS cases to use less plastic. Usually, the holes are… just boring holes, but Star Fox 64 3D fills them with Fox McCloud, his crew, and Star Wolf’s squad. Fitting since all of those pictures are text box portraits from the game.

That photo is from the Japanese version of Star Fox 64 3D. Since Nintendogs + cats also had double sided cover art, so we may see similar packaging in North America.

Star Fox 64 3D will be available on September 11 in North America and September 9 in Europe.

Sadly, we probably won’t get this in North America as we didn’t get the other double sided covers that Japan got.

    Just another way NoA fails.

In europe, we got a double sided cover with the zelda collectors box, it has rupees in the holes

    • You’re torturing us Americans!

But Europe deserves to get a lot of extras, since you guys didn’t get as much as N.A. in the past. *sigh* (urge to live in Europe…rising)

  • I doubt we’ll get this in NA. NoA is a shame.

Here’s an idea… MAKE THE GAME CASES SMALLER!!!!

The 3DS game cartridge is TINY! Why can’t they reduce the size of the mammoth case to something that just plain outright uses less plastic  rather than punching holes in the giant ones?

for the book, though we don’t need it very much. They should make it smaller.

    • xhunter

Because it’s hard to advertise the game with a small box you can’t see from behind the counter.

i think they should use rectangular instead of square boxes, i always thought those look cooler. like the psp boxes….. and all other non portable game boxes.

  • thebanditking

I wonder if they will do this for the US release as well. I personally think all 3DS games should do this to make use of the seemingly random holes punched in the cases.

  • xflame10

wouldnt it be freaky to open up the box for the first time and have them all staring at you?

  • We didn’t get anything inside the holes. That was only in Japan & Europe.
