Klonoa Opens Door To PlayStation Network

By Spencer . July 17, 2011 . 11:18pm

klo It’s already on Japan’s PlayStation Store and it appears Klonoa: Door to Phantomile is coming to North America too.

The ESRB just rated Klonoa: Door to Phantomile for PlayStation 3 and PSP with Sony Computer Entertainment America as the publisher. A rating like that means Klonoa is on deck for PlayStation Network.

If you missed the Wii remake, here’s another chance to shoot wind bullets and jump through Klonoa’s dreamy journey.

    Ahhh Klonoa, good times

Somehow I’ve never played any Klonoa games. Am I missing out?

Have you played Kirby’s Epic Yarn? That’s the closest match I can think of right now. Klonoa is a bit harder and better. But the game’s strongest points are not the stages, but the music, characters, story (that’s just my opinion of course).

Ah, sounds good. Might try it out when it hits PSN.

I’d say so, but maybe not? I think Klonoa is a simple and charming platformer that, as far as Door to Phantomile goes anyway, has a nice, little story. And a… Kinda bittersweet ending. I think it’s a ton of fun and pretty unique.

    This is a good day.

i did NOT like the Wii remake at all, will i like this?

    • http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=2704923 Buntar0

I don’t think so, it’s virtually the same gameplay:
The original is a tad harder (health, boss behaviour) and Klonoa lacks the attack activated by shaking the Wii remote in the remake.

Ahhh~. I still have my disc (my sister never had a case for some reason), but I’ll get this on PSN too (and still need to try the Wii remake, just for the heck of it).

I wish we had another Klonoa game more similar to Door to Phantomile. (Or even Moonlight Museum, or heck, Empire of Dreams.)

I’ll probably pick it up too despite owning the PSX disc. Still so many PSX games I’d like to see brought to PSN, nice to see they’re still working at it (albeit slowly)

      • puchinri

Definitely, I’m hoping we’ll continue to see many more PSX games coming to PSN for some time.

What’s the difference between this one and the Wii remake? How much is changed/altered/whatnot between the two?

    • http://myanimelist.net/profile/Kuronoa Kuronoa

Biggest difference is that Klonoa has less health and there isn’t some of the bonus features.   Some bosses are changed too, but nothing got replaced.
I recommend playing the original for sure.

Yep my favorite series.  Hope you guys like the original like I did.  Maybe good sales will convince Namco to make a HD Klonoa 2 or a new game. <3

Great news! Now I can play this gem anywhere over and over as long as my PSP is in hand!
