El Shaddai Delayed To August, But "Don’t Worry, Everything’s Fine"

Ignition pushed El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron out of Catherine’s path by moving the game’s release date from July 26 to August 16. The publisher cited "unforeseen logistical issues" as the reason for the delay. The European release date is still September 9.

"Don’t worry, everything is fine,"  the official El Shaddai twitter reads. We get that they’re citing the meme, but logistical issues probably means things aren’t fine? I dunno!

I suppose this is a good time to mention we’re going to have El Shaddai coverage this week and perhaps another surprise too.

Logical issues or logistical issues? Logical issues hint at late to the party bug finds while the latter just means they’re a week or two behind other projects at the replicators.

While there probably is a logistical issue at the heart of it, I wouldn’t be surprised if “oh hey – a higher-profile niche game is coming out July 26″ played a part :).

Glad to hear about the coverage this week, I feel as if I don’t know enough about the game to drop down the money to buy it. Very interesting in not just art style and graphics but game play as well.

Very wise decision about pushing the release date, I noticed it had the same date as Catherine on the GameStop website. Personally, I got my collectors edition all ready to go…just waiting for the day to pick that baby up!

There isn’t many games that release that week either or rather big sellers that will take up sales at major and minor retailers. Look forward to the coverage on this game!

Guessing its something related to the english dub, because the multi 5 sub had about 10 lines miss timed in the entire game.

The game was already very very polished on its launch date.

Ah four days after my 23rd birthday…Depending on the coverage and increasing information on the title, I will decide if I go through with getting this game. The original date was just an odd time choice due to other games and animu releasing for me.

I really want to question if this “logical issue” is that they realized it was smarter to avoid sharing the same release date with Catherine when they have similar demographics for the same consoles with Catherine winning as the bigger game…

I’m happy for this. That means I don’t have to break the bank that day. Now I’ll just get Catherine

    • AnimusVox

Yeah that’s the good thing about the delay for me. I was pretty torn.

    • Xeahnort

      Amen to that.

  • imaguni

Well, my big spending will be delayed to August with NMH at least. :(

  • Enma_Kozato

Great. I was hoping I could nab this before I moved to Korea.

  • Soma

I was actually pretty happy to hear that this was getting a bit of a delay. Instead of having to juggle between Catherine and El Shaddai, I can now play them both at a more leisurely pace. =)

Also, if the demo was any indication of the quality of this game, things are looking up for Ignition!

  • SeventhEvening

I wonder if that logistical problem IS Catherine? I want both games, but I was going to buy Catherine and pick up El Shaddai used later on. Now I might pick up both games.

Smart move. Most would have bought Catherine over it. For me, it’s a bit too close to Tales of Xillia and Disgaea 4 now. So…yeah going to have to pass on this. :(

  • NipponjiRurouniJSRF

This is good, I planned on buying both on the same date but this gives me more time to enjoy both.

  • Room201

Ah shucks! I was actually going to be happy picking both Catherine and El Shaddai on the same day. Oh well, this gives me time to play Catherine and money to pick another game for this month.

Also, am I the only one who feels El Shaddai has little to no publicity? The guy at my local video game store, who is usually into niche titles, had no clue about this game…

  • neo_firenze

Guess I get this AND No More Heroes on my birthday then :)

Not really that impressed by the El Shaddai demo, feels like more style than substance, but I’ll give it a shot anyway.

They could’ve just released it on July 26th in Europe, because Catherine doesn’t come out in Europe.

  • kyuketsukimiyu

I am not thrilled about this. I have already been very close to importing this game, but held off because I like to support localization companies. But I do want it to do well, and it probably wouldn’t against Catherine. So it is what it is I suppose.

  • sandra10

Oh thank god. When I looked at the balance for El Shaddai and The Love is Over edition, I died a little inside. I usually don’t buy console games day one unless I want to support a great but unpopular developer… but damn that’s a lot of money.

  • tass123

Bah! I’ll probably import the US version anyway (I don’t think I can last a whole month more just because they have to change the word “pants” to “trousers”)
