The Invaders In Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Mean Business

By Spencer . July 22, 2011 . 1:50am

The Nintendo DS game opens with images of Japan in ruins and the main character dying. While the Septentrion may not look threatening like the game’s demons, they’re capable of razing cities.

More mysterious is Nicaea, a dead face delivery site, which shows the main character… as a corpse. Players will have to use Nicaea to predict the future and perhaps save the lives of other characters that signed a demon summoning pact..

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 comes out on July 28 in Japan and early next year in North America.

    Cool! :D

  • Shinji Kazuya

Awsome! I had such a good time with th1 first one!
    Can’t wait for it!   ⁀ω⁀

  • Exkaiser

    I like the opening theme.

I need to finish the first game, but I’ll definitely pick this one up. DeSu was a pleasant surprise.

  • I can’t wait for this.  The Opening is kinda mixed for me, its alright but it doesn’t have that similar feel that most Shin Megami Tensei games have in their music but the music isn’t done by Shoji Meguro so its understandable

    • Hraesvelgr

Eh, I’d like to see more SMT games with different composers, personally. Meguro is good, but his stuff is starting to sound mostly the same. I just hope that DS2 has more than the 5-ish music tracks that the first game had.

      • Ren

Yeah, but I still say it’s weird to have a SMT composed by Kenji Ito. I wonder why DeSu2 changed composers from DeSu and why Kenji Ito anyway. Not that I’m complaining.

    • RPGRocker

This game’s composer, Kenji Ito, is particularly known for his battle themes. So I expect most other themes in the game (including the opening) are going to be pretty average. But, if this game plays anything like DS1 did (where 80% of your time is spent in battles) this is a very good thing. DS1’s battle themes got old quick.

Youtube search “final battle saruin,” “final battle emelia,” or “four noble devils” for samples.

  • Zenkito

Well I can’t wait to play it. I’ll be playing Devil Survivor Overclocked soon though, so hopefully by the time I’m done with DSO, DS2 will have been released :D

  • That’s a pretty slick opening. Can’t wait!

  • Darkrise

Still have to finish the first game. =/ But still, nice opening.

    • Same here. The first Devil Survivor’s difficult enough, but I’ll push through it, cuz I’m one of those people who didn’t play Spirit Tracks until Phantom Hourglass was done

    • AzureNova

Same here, I’m on the final boss and he’s no joke -_-.

  • Did I see Nbalung Valesti at the end?

    • neocatzon

me too! who did it o_o?

  • AJ

I’m excited for this game.  Excited to lose all over again!

  • Hew Weng Xin

That was epic beautiful. Love the part you can throw a spear..

  • AzureNova

Already pre-ordered ^_^. I’m going to survive all over again.

  • DDanny

Oh God I can’t stop laughing, to think we lost Kaneko for this abomination of boss designs.

    • bolto

They purposely chose abstract designs for the bosses. Even if they had Kaneko doing the boss designs they would be just as abstract. They got Mohiro Kito to do the designs because he already draws monster designs like this.

      • DDanny

I guess so, but all I can say is that they still look horrible, crystal ring manages to take the cake though.
