Deathsmiles On iPhone To Get Major Update Next Weekend

By Ishaan . July 30, 2011 . 2:00pm

On August 6th, Cave will release a sizeable update to Deathsmiles on iPhone, which will bring new items, music and costumes to the game. As far as costumes go, the update will allow you to unlock additional costumes for Tiara after fulfilling certain conditions in the game. Some of these outfits, they say, might be recognizable from somewhere.

New music will come in the form of a new background music track that Cave say will also sound familiar to players. In order to unlock the track, you’ll have to perform some kind of special track. The only hint they provide is rather vague: “Flash flash? Tap tap!”

Once you’ve got the update, you’ll also be able to collect puzzle pieces while playing the game. These pieces can be assembled into an original illustration by Deathsmiles’ iPhone Mode illustrator, Yukinatsu Mori. The most significant addition is that of new items, however. Cave are bringing over items from Guwange and Dodonpachi Resurrection as DLC items. Another item will increase the in-game item drop-rate.

Finally, the August 6th update will also add a screen rotation (flipping) feature, and an option to switch the screen to the left or right. They’ll be holding a livestream at this link on August 5th at 11:00 AM (GMT), showing off some of these features and providing further hints on how to unlock the new background music track.

      rar, know the feeling omo; I find the whole iphone/touch thing so unnerving though, since I know my friend’s ithing is incompatible with some games, and certain things only work on certain ones or something omo; rarr, confusing. Plus the expense, and unknown T_T’ and the notion of playing shmups and other games without buttons T3T It’s tearing me apart. And rar, worst off, ontop of everything, it makes me feel so incredibly old omo;;

the thing i hate about the iDevice is the fact that devs shove in v-controls to simulate a controller. the games never feel right when they normally use more than 2 pads.

this is seriously one of the best iphone games i ever got. i got the original deathsmiles on the xbox and i didn’t think much until i saw the new single player mode. im not complaining but i wish it supported retina display. is the iphone worth it? i never had a smart phone until this december when i got my iphone4 and i have to say it is. do i waste alot of time playing games on it? yeah…but do i also use its insane amount of utilities to the fullest? yes. its funny you never think u will use (insert app) here but u tend to squeeze every ounch of it’s abilities as u can when u get the phone…its a very useless at the same time, uselful gadget lol.

game is not worth an iDevice, but it has its perks. it’s pretty entertaining to me and i’m really a fan of shooters without a story… to be frank, it was the costume system, the loli, and the visual novel-esque factor that made me turn a blind eye and just buy it… i still say it’s only worth 10$.

  • Blazeddc

Really wish they would add multiplayer.

  • Oh snap, forgot this released. *off to buy it.

  • Kitestwinblades

Lol Seeing that umbrella on the equipment screen reminds me of Eternal Sonata. Isn’t this like a hell shooter or completely different from Touhou’s difficulty?

  • I bought the game but I don’t have an iGarbage device!

    • Darkrise

I did too. But of course, I’m planning to buy just an iTouch instead.

  • MarkMario

I still need to finish this, but I can never get pass the final stage (or extra).

  • This is the perfect game for me when I have time to kill at work. And they’re adding more content? We got a stew goin’!

  • punkchobit

It should get support for iPad and the iCade
