What Kind Of Fighter Do You Want For Street Fighter X Tekken On Xbox 360

By Spencer . July 31, 2011 . 5:42pm

lostplanet2The PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Street Fighter X Tekken have inFamous 2 lead Cole Macgrath as a console exclusive character. What about the Xbox 360 release? Will Capcom’s fighting game add an exclusive character from Microsoft’s library?

"We’ve done crossovers with Microsoft before. Marcus and Dom [from Gears of War] were in Lost Planet 2, if you remember, so it’s not impossible," Street Fighter X Tekken producer Yoshinori Ono said. "I’m looking and doing a lot of thinking, but I haven’t yet found a character that screams to me – this character should be in a fighting game on Microsoft’s side. I’m not saying there isn’t a character like that, but I haven’t personally thought of one yet. I’d love to hear from the fans, if you have ideas or suggestions let me know."

I was going to mention Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus, but considering how Microsoft gave up on their fighting game, they probably weren’t a good fit. Instead, I promised to relay this message to the readers on Siliconera. Any ideas?

  • Got plenty for a Nintendo character!
Link, Little Mac, Marth, Samus, Pit, or of course Captain Falcon!

How about asking for him to forget 360 and make it for Wii or 3DS?

    • shion16

Those characters are gay compared to SF and tekken character xD.

My options are Alan Wake , any character from Dead or Alive, Joanna Dark ,and my favorite one……………KAIM FROM LOST ODYSSEY!!!!!!

      • LOL ALAN WAKE? What’s he going to do, write an angry letter? Flashlight in the eyes?

        • I take offense to your comment! I’m gonna…write you an angry letter…once I find some more batteries for my flashlight…

        • shion16

I was just thinking in young adult characters from xbox when i mention him xDDD

        • Exkaiser

He’s going to write a novel where the main character is a thinly veiled self-insert who also happens to be a novelist in his home state. That’s what he’s gonna do.

      • dragoon_slayer12

As much as I would love to see kaim, hironobu owns him, not micro. Joanna does seem like the better pick, but I think the fairy from kameo would be better, pull a Shang tsung with her, but with her transformations from the game.

      • how are these characters gay?? captain falcon would be a cool character as well as characters like shiek and samus nintendos got quite a lot of cool characters that could be used if well done
also i dont think a doa game would work as that would just make it doa x tekken x street fighter :/
        and lol at alan wake

      • I can’t help but find it hypocritcal of someone insulting Nintendo characters, only to nominate a character made by Mistwalker; which recently just made The Last Story, for Nintendo.

    • Please tell me that comment is a bad joke.

      • dragoon_slayer12

I wouldn’t mind a 3ds version, even though I’m buying the vita version. Wario would be a good Rufus like character, while I see luigi like Steve

    • Why not go Wii U?  This game may get an updated version anyways…

  • Eddie

Please don’t do anyone from Gears or Halo. Try to think outside the box on this one. With that being said I have no idea who you should pick. Maybe Kaim from Lost Odyssey?

    • Also no one from Call of Duty or Left 4 Dead…….Basically no one from FPS games.

      • Exkaiser

I don’t know, Coach or Nick from L4D2 would be awesome.

        Anyone but Ellis, really.

Still, both silly fears. Call of Duty and L4D aren’t published by Microsoft.

        • Rol

You do realize that the character has to be keith now right?

“One time, Keith was walking down the road, and then some guy pointed his hands at him, and then some blue thing came out and knocked Keith down…”

      • FireCouch

Coach?  In Street Fighter x Tekken for Xbox?  Guess I’m buying an Xbox.

  • Duke Nukem. :P

    • HistorysGreatestMonster

      Not 360 exclusive.

  • RagnaXBL

I for one am against adding people outside of the franchise, can’t believe they put freddy kruger in MK9, they might as well go add in fred flintstone and homer simpson while they’re at it. i really do hate these kind of marketing ploys to try and get casual gamers to buy into fighting games, casual players will spoil fighting games for the rest of us and we’ll have to wait another decade before we see any decent fighting games again.

and Cole in SF x Tekken, really!? don’t even get me started on that…

    • That’s my problem with Soulcalibur’s insistence on including guest characters. They never fit in the established universe. Freddy Kruger shocked me too. And not in a good way.

    • z_merquise

I think fighting game developers just wanted to broaden their audience which was why they also put the casual gamers in mind when they develop a game.
As long as the game is enjoyable with a lot of depth that dedicated fighting gamers would appreciate and at the same time give other people a chance to just enjoy the game, it’s fine with me.

I do 100% agree with the stupid marketing ploy that you mentioned though (Freddy Krueger in MK, Star Wars in Soulcalibur). That thing needs to stop.

  • z_merquise

Should it be only characters from games in XBox and XBOX 360?

If not, then I vote for SNK characters. Someone from Garou (Rock Howard, Tizoc or Hotaru) or King of Fighters should be cool though I preferred someone from Samurai Shodown (Hattori Hanzo or . . . IROHA!!!)

Or how about something more unexpected. Like Travis Touchdown of No More Heroes (wanted to see him in a cross-over game). Or if they wanted someone from an anime/manga, Kenshiro of Fist of the North Star first comes in my mind.

Characters I mentioned above is just wishful thinking. More likely, they’ll add a character from XBox-exclusive games similar to that Infamous guy appearing for PS3 and PS Vita version.

Personally, I hope they just add more Tekken and Street Fighter (and Final Fight) characters instead. The title “Street Fighter x Tekken” is starting to lose sense if they keep on adding characters outside of those games.

  • Azuku

It must be Mister Francis York Morgan, this is plain to see. For his super he covers his opponent in scalding hot coffee. Then he proceeds to lights up a cigarette. He will be the boldest adversary you’ve ever met. So says Mr. Stewart.

    • Eric Chan

That’s an excellent choice, just for the laughs…. XD

    • Warren Deck

That’s a no-can-do, as the game is on PS3 also. I own the PS3 version and love it. We have to face facts: Microsoft has no characters, the coffee tried to warn us.

      Right, Zach?

  • Banjo and Kazooie, Ono.  Do it.

    • They were the Xbox 360 exclusives in Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing, so it’s possible. Really, they’re the only distinctive characters on the Microsoft side to choose, even if they DID originate on a Nintendo console. Rare has some of Microsoft’s best and most memorable characters (Conker, Joanna Dark, etc.).

Maybe they’ll go out on a limb and use Blinx the Time Sweeper, or whatever that cat’s name was.

  • Steve Ballmer!!!

  • Commander Shepard!!!

    • not exclusive since the PC and PS3 versions

I’d like to see Femshep in a fighting game, and using skills from each class

      Charge Ultra, anyone?

  • Just make a random space marine.

    • Eddie

      A random “bald space marine”

      • Every hero needs to be frickin’ bald.

  • sdragon21

How about someone from Killer Instinct?
    TJ Combo or Jago perhaps???

    • thaKingRocka

I agree that if they’re going to look for someone, it should probably be from Rare’s stable of characters (including all their series though of course). I love Gears and Halo, but those characters have already appeared in other games, and I don’t think they fit Sf or Tekken very well.

  • Xeahnort

What about Alex Mercer? He is the most suitable for a fighting game

    • Aara_Malik_Davoodi

He’s not exactly a Microsoft exclusive, though

  • Asura even if the game ain’t out put him in.

  • Microsoft has no characters that would fit in Street Fighter x Tekken. Halo and Gears of War characters would look retarded and out of place.

Also, some of the characters mentions by you guys are owned by other companies, not Microsoft.

    • Zal_Yagun

Tecmo manage to add a Halo Spartan in DOA4, don’t remember the reaction on that decision…

But think about the world of Street Fighter (explain Blanka, Twelve or Seth) and Tekken (King, Jack, Alisa, Devil Jin, Bryan Fury, Kuma, Roger and Yoshimitsu + They did mention a timemachine), So even if a Spartan is in Street Fighter vs Tekken in all honesty they wouldn’t be out of place in either fucked up world (I would be more worried about a Bear or Kangaroo than a Soldier in power armor walking around the streets). They just either be mistaken for an souped up tekken force officer or a shadaloo experiment.

    • TempestTwin

Yet they still managed to put Solid Snake in brawl…….

  • thaKingRocka

If nobody comes to mind immediately, then, sadly, it’s probably best not to bother.

  • tetrisdork

I could see Cole from Gears of War in it. His Thrashball background – a sport that appears to be a combination of multiple sports including American football – may make him seem more adept to use hand-to-hand combat. Plus, he seems like a character that could mesh with SFxTK based on his personality.

Other than that, maybe a character from Killer Instinct like Jago or Fulgore.

  • Klaus00

What about … Blinx the time sweeper , remember him? Yeah the orange cat with the vacuumer

EDIT:He’d be awesome rewind time/ stop time/ slowing down time / speed up time / shoot projectiles out of his Vacuumer / Sucking the opponent in with his Vacuumer . Spencer lol make Ono read this , I wanna hear his reaction loool + he’s a microsoft character

    • SerendipityX

Actually I think Blinx would be a badass choice. lol

  • mikanko

None, seriously.  Namco recently said at their Evo panel for Soul Calibur 5 that they’ve realized that console exclusives are bad, and I hope they stick to that sentiment.

    • Aara_Malik_Davoodi

They’re not always bad. For instance, having Kratos in Mortal Kombat is awesome, but it’s also not possible for Kratos, the God of Sony, to be on a 360, so it makes sense for it to be an exclusive. Now the whole SCIV thing with Yoda and Vader where both were on the disk….that was bad

      • mikanko

Will just agree to disagree here.

Fighting games are best played with a group of people live and not casually against the computer or online with the lag of US internets.  Local scenes may be pretty small, but if you can partake in one you’ll find yourself enjoying it a lot more than any online fight play you’ll ever have.  Knowing half the people may own 360s, and the other half PS3s, having characters that can’t be played for either system are bad period.

This is why characters like Kratos are banned from tournaments, because it splits the community to which system so and so owns.  This is just a bad idea for a game that wants to promote an active competitive community.

      • HistorysGreatestMonster

Yeah, Kratos was part of the reason I bought the game. His stage is probably the best in all of MK too.

    • raymk

He did? I hope he sticks to that but he kinda already confirmed a guess character for soul calibur.  I don’t mind a guess so long as he’s not console exclusive.

      • mikanko

It was during the Q and A part of the panel.  Was either Harada or Daishi, no confirmations or anything, and going by hearsay.  Could just be the development team doesn’t like exclusive characters but not their ultimate decision, so anything is possible.

Definitely hope that them saying they now thought console exclusive characters were bad means they intend to not have any in SC5.  Balance in a fighting game really should be built around the whole roster, which becomes kinda hard when there is more than one complete roster to balance around.

  • I’d like to Yoshinori Ono actually go with someone like a Tao Feng character. Or a character from one of the other WELL OVER TWO DOZEN FAILED MICROSOFT FRANCHISES THAT THEY DIDN’T SUPPORT! I mean, they suck. They’re only interested in IPs that, right out the gate, sell over 5 million units. Anything less than that – even if it IS a million seller – is a failed experiment for them. They’re the worst first party ever. Now they’re left only with Halo, Fable, Gears and Forza.

So I hope Ono looks for some obscure character from something like Azurik, New Legends, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Tao Feng, Kakuto Chojin, Crackdown, ShadowRun or whatnot. Personally, I’d go to a Rare game – someone like Kameo (especially if they use her more realistically-proportioned redesign from the canceled sequel) – might be very interesting to see in a fighting game. They could also be really lazy and just put in someone from Killer Instinct, a franchise Microsoft hasn’t even used because it’s not a shooter. But regardless, having a Street Fighter IV styled Jago, Orchid or Fulgur would probably be cool:)

    • You think too highly on Ono and Capcom on their “Decision on things”

  • Just make a WiiU or 3DS version, and put Captain Falcon. That reason alone it will out sell the other versions. Just like Link in Soul Calibur 2.

  • Sol Badguy from GG2: Overture

    • ForeverFidelis

That doesn’t really make much sense considering that Guilty Gear…

Overture WAS an exclusive, wasn’t it? Huh.

      • HistorysGreatestMonster

Yeah,. but Sol, himself, has been on both Nintendo and Sony systems, so he wouldn’t work.

        • ForeverFidelis

Yeah. I’ve always considered Sol a Sony guy, first and foremost, though..

  • lightningrook

Joanna Dark could be cool, but I think she’d play too similarly to Nina/Cammy.

  • Can I get a different game instead?

    • lol i agree.  It was stupid when they put in Cole but i can’t think of a Microsoft character to be in this and if i could it be stupid.

  • Guest

how bout you just focus on the SF & Tekken characters like confirming FEI LONG vs MARSHALL LAW for the love of God I need to see the Bruce Lee clones go at it

    • mikanko

This.  I don’t get how making a console exclusive character, which takes up time and development budget, is good when it could instead be another Tekken or Street Fighter character added to the roster.

      • Exkaiser

        Wait, no.

Both a Tekken and Street Fighter character. Split down the middle, like Gill or Baron Ashura.

        • mikanko

Yes, that’s right.  You can only get half a Q or no Q at all.

          • Exkaiser

            Can it be, like, Q/Jack?

          • mikanko

Mecha Jack Q is getting his own game, too gdlk for this one.

No, you get Roger Q instead.

  • Phlo

Elmo from Sesame Street. He was a big hit at E3, right?

  • UberNoCrono

Splosion Man or The Gunstringer, Ono send me a copy of the game and we can call it even

  • Hours

I’d rather they have no guest characters at all, and devote the time to adding more Street Fighter and Tekken characters to both versions.

  • if microsoft works a little on it, the character could be sam fisher…

i know that sams is property of ubisoft but…, conviction is an exclusive, and cole is not sony’s, is property of suckerpunch…

  • Daniel13789

    The Burger King…

  • Taiyz

It’s alright guys, I got this!

Jason Flemming from Shadow Complex, decked out in the ol’ Omega Armor XOS-7. You can’t tell me that it isn’t fun melee-ing enemies in Shadow Complex, and let’s not forget the Intertial Element which could be used for a nice wallbounce effect. Foam to freeze the opponent and maybe the Hook to throw them?
Hyperspeed could be used as a command dash like Ibuki, and he could also have a super jump because of the CLD Thrust Pack or Thrust Boosts (a la C. Viper.) The Fusion Helmet could be his super move (not sure what SFxT is calling ’em) and act kind of like Hsien-Ko’s Rimoukon, rendering him immune to hitstun and/or chip damage.

I’m just throwing ideas all over the place, but I think that they could make him work. I’m a big fan of Shadow Complex, and I think this would be a good thing for that franchise, and he fits right into Tekken’s (and even Street Fighter’s with S.I.N.’s gadgets quite frankly) bizarre futuristic universe.

  • Wiccan1109

I saw a translated comment from Ono saying the roster is finalised and thats why (in response to someones question) R. Mika and Karin would not be making an appearance, and yet guest characters are still there for debate. Although that was translated on some random website so i take it with a grain of salt =S I dont actually know who Cole is, i often find that all these butch, army/gunner/melee game heroes pretty much look the same to me. I dont mind if they get added, but i would rather see some of the M.I.A Alpha 3 fighters than a guest. i just feel like they’re more vibrant and interesting.

    • man, you completely misread Cole’s character, he’s actually just some sarcastic delivery boy-turned super-hero/vigilante o 3o

      • HistorysGreatestMonster

Cole is not a delivery boy. He’s a messenger. One of my best friends yelled at me for getting those two mixed up (she’s a bike messenger).

  • TempestTwin

Dont put in anyone. There is no microsoft exclusive characters that will belong in the game. Its funny though, Namco managed to put Lars from tekken into Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, and snake made it into super smash bros brawl, so who knows.

I just wish they started focusing on both tekken and street fighter characters.

    • SlashZaku

This.  Kind of wish the whole ‘guest character’ thing would die already.  However, Namco still holds the title of worst offender with SCIV and the whole Star Wars thing.

    • Guest

Snake was also in DreamMix World TV fighters (along with Optimus Prime and Simon Belmont)

  • Nicole-458 from DOA

  • BGMcDF

    Red Ring for SFxTK!

All his combos are Touch of Death.

  • malek86

Can’t they ask Rare and just put in Glacius or Fulgore or someone else from Killer Instinct? At least they would come from an actual fighting game (and I bet most people, me included, are still waiting for a new KI).

They would fit in place more than Cole, that’s for sure. I’m still not sure where they got the idea of putting that one.

  • Nei_chan

    A pinata.

No, but more seriously Joanna Dark.

But to tell the truth i find guest characters totally unnecessary and out of place in most cases so i would rather have them forget about it.
But then again this whole game is just going to be a crossover.

  • HistorysGreatestMonster

The closest Microsoft have to a character with some sort of personality would be Joanna Dark. I guess a Killer Instinct character could work too, like Orchid or somebody.

Microsoft haven’t really focused on making strong first party games this gen. That’s been more Sony’s strength. You could probably make an entire fighting game of just Sony characters, at this point. Microsoft’s strength has been luring formerly exclusive third parties to go multiplatform, really.

But they do have those characters from Rare, which Rare aren’t really using anymore, so if he’s looking for a 360-exclusive character, that’s where he should look.

    • Nei_chan

Nathan Drake, guy from InFamous, guy from Resistance, a Sackboy and Nariko are enough to form a whole game?

      • HistorysGreatestMonster

For example, if I were making one, it’d have:

Nathan Drake, Chloe, Lazarevic, (from Uncharted) Nariko, King Bohan, Kai, Flying Fox, (from Heavenly Sword) Kratos, Deimos, Zeus, Hercules, (from God of War) Cole, Nyx, Kou, (from Infamous) Sweet Tooth, Dollface, Preacher, (from Twisted Metal) Eldore, Kara, Grazel (from White Knight Chronicles), Amana, Kyoya (from Siren), Ellen, Keats (from Folklore).

You could also throw in some Killzone and Resistance characters, but since I’m not into FPS, I couldn’t name any. Some Sly Cooper and Ratchet & Clank characters if you don’t want to go completely realistic. And I do believe Sony owns the characters in Rogue Galaxy, Dark Cloud, Wild Arms, and Demon’s Souls. There’s more than enough for a fighting game.

If you think Sony doesn’t have characters, then you don’t own a Playstation.

        • shion16

Drake , Chloe and Lazarevic  = the same thing
Deimos and Kratos = the same thing
Rogue Galaxy , Dark Cloud = Level 5 (not sony exclusive)
          Demon Souls = FROM SOFTWARE

          • SlashZaku

Sony own the IPs for Dark Cloud, Jeanne D’arc and Rogue Galaxy.  That’s why Hino hasn’t done a DC3 yet because he keeps saying you have to ask Sony about it.  So yes, they are Sony exclusive.  Demon’s Souls is also a Sony IP, hence the reason Namco Bandai/FROM aren’t using it and are instead using the name ‘Dark Souls’.

          • HistorysGreatestMonster

First, Lazarevic would be his super-powered version. Drake and Chloe have different fighting styles.

Deimos and Kratos have different powers.

Besides, when has a fighting game ever prevented itself from having somewhat similar characters? Ryu and Ken, anyone (hell, Sakura, Oni, Evil Ryu, Akuma, Sean, and every other shoto in Capcom)?

And as SlashZaku said, Sony own the IP for Dark Cloud, Demon’s Souls, and Rogue Galaxy.

        • Nei_chan

          >If you think Sony doesn’t have characters, then you don’t own a Playstation.

yeah, and I implied this where? Oh, that’s right. I didn’t

          >Nathan Drake, Chloe, Lazarevic, (from Uncharted) Nariko, King Bohan, Kai, Flying Fox, (from Heavenly Sword) Kratos, Deimos, Zeus, Hercules, (from God of War) Cole, Nyx, Kou, (from Infamous) Sweet Tooth, Dollface, Preacher, (from Twisted Metal) Eldore, Kara, Grazel (from White Knight Chronicles), Amana, Kyoya (from Siren), Ellen, Keats (from Folklore).>You could also throw in some Killzone and Resistance characters, but since I’m not into FPS, I couldn’t name any. There’s more than enough for a fighting game.

Yeah right, and maybe cars from Gran Turismo too, huh? You need memorable characters that are popular in general to make a game like that. Not just everyone you can think of just to make numbers look bigger.

By your logic, you could make a game like this for every platform there ever was.

  • Don’t know too many Microsoft characters that aren’t from Rare…
Voodoo Vince or go Fighters Megamix style and put in a Project Gotham Racing car. =P

    • malek86

It’s not really Microsoft, but they should totally go to From Software, and ask if they can put in President Michael Wilson from Metal Wolf Chaos. That would be amazing.

  • Just realize Microsoft owns Phantom Dust. =o

    • Xeahnort

Master chief was a f***ing joke in DoA 4

  • how about CAPTAIN SMILEY?

  • Doesn’t Microsoft have the rights to Killer Instinct because they own Rare? I mean there’s a treasure trove of characters to pick from there easily.

  • Joanna Dark.

  • Marcelo Eduardo de Castro

    Co-Co-Co Combobreaker!!!

  • Bryan Howell

  • BROLY_X1
