Next Week, Japan Will Get A Virtual Console RPG For 3DS

imageNintendo of Japan is filling up Virtual Console for Nintendo 3DS with meatier Game Boy games. They already have Gargoyle’s Quest and the ahead-of-its-time puzzler Pitman.

Next week, Glory of Heracles: The Gods Began to Move will be available for 400 yen. This game was dug out of Data East’s archives by Paon who own the rights to the RPG series. In this game you play as Heracles who has to battle the Titans and their leader Chronos.

Unfortunately, the Glory of Heracles series didn’t come over until the Nintendo DS game so we won’t see this Game Boy game in North America. Here’s hoping for SaGa aka Final Fantasy Legends to fill the void.

  • Always thought Virtual Console would of been the gateway to localizing these titles.  They cannot bundle or make separate retail releases with them without gamers feeling like they are paying too much…
    What a missed opportunity there.

But yeah do hope to see some RPGs on the service soon.

  • yeah, i want Final Fantasy Legend I & II. and Super Robot Wars. And Nobunaga’s Ambition.

  • Man, I really hope we get Gargoyle’s Quest for the VC. Or GQ2 for NES, since the 3DS can play NES games too (thanks, Ambassador program, for proving that). Ideally, Demon’s Crest would be the game Capcom would remember, and revive. Because it’s honestly, probably, the greatest side scroller ever made. Incredibly underrated. Remake it in HD for PSN, Steam or XBLA nowadays, and people would say it makes Symphony of the Night, Super Metroid and Shadow Complex look like horsesh**. It’s a shame only, like, 3 people played it for SNES.

You mean incredibly overrated.  If you look under fan lists of “underrated games,” Demon’s Crest is always near the top.  It’s a decent game, but it’s not really all that people make it out to be.  I wouldn’t have cared if I completed missed it to be honest.  I like Gargoyle’s Quest 1 and 2 better.

As for a virtual console release I’d like seeing?  If I didn’t already own it, I’d probably say Rolan’s Curse 2.  Release it early so people don’t pass over it by other well known titles.  Rolan’s Curse 2 is one of my favorite Gameboy games.
