His Cool Looks And Loner Attitude Make Him The Envy Of Men And Women

By Spencer . August 10, 2011 . 12:47pm

In addition to reminding us how cool Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 2: Innocent Sin’s lead character is, this round of screenshots introduce rumormongers. Rumors can come true in Persona 2 if you visit the Kuzunoha Detective Agency and pay a fee to spread them.

Take Toku-san’s rumor as an example. Spread it and the magazine sweepstakes will be harder to win, but will also have better quality goods. Toro’s rumor makes the store in the Time Castle sell weapons when it usually does not. Other rumors can change which demons show up where and the chance of scoring big at the game’s casino.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 2: Innocent Sin comes out on September 20 in North America.

The real question is, how will the localization handle Maya’s catchphrase?

    Let’s positive thinking, Atlus USA!

    • Exkaiser

IIRC, it came up as “Let’s think positively!” in P3.

But it’s been a while since I played it, so I could be wrong.

    • Nelson Ocasio

In Eternal Punishment it came out as “Let’s think positive”.

  • Jirin

Maya talks in Innocent Sin?  I assumed based on Eternal Punishment that she was a silent lead in both.

I’ve already preordered this.  Hopefully they have a better way than in the PSX release to show you how the advancement systems work, because IIRC, it’s the sort of game you can really become underpowered if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Tatsuya is silent and Maya talks in Innocent Sin, whereas Maya is silent and Tatsuya talks in Eternal Punishment. Frankly, the “silent protagonist” role fit Tatsuya a lot better when you consider their personalities.

      • Yeah. But even as a silent protagonist, everyone seems to treat Maya like an optimist. They react to her dialogue choices/actions as if she was saying it in her own way, if you get my drift. It’s kind of silly; if they bothered to give Maya such a strong personality, why not just unmute her?

Same goes for Tatsuya, though it’s less noticeable, since he pretty taciturn anyway. Other characters react to him like he’s a silent type.

  • OMFG I CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

  • I ready to dig into this RPG, however, with SMT:DS:O and the rate that I play handhelds now (about 30-45 minutes a day) it will take me two months to get through a game. Oh well, as long as I have P2 IM happy, love P1P still (play it now and then)

    • Saraneth

I’ve played both games(well DS not DS:O) and believe me, you’ ll find yourself making the time.

  • GIMME NOW! <3 <3 Best game evAr! :D

Hoping the battle system isn’t as slow as Persona 1 PSP.

  • Is this going to be on psn?

  • puchinri

Wow, was the Kuzunoha Detective Agency always in P2? That’s interesting.

Guess I gotta go preorder now too.

  • freakin random battle rate better not be like P1P i swear

    • ^ The reason why I stopped playing P1P.

      • Historiata

Grinding levels > low health > get killed on the way back to the healzone

        • You must be doing it wrong. Grind in front of the spring or tree.

          • Historiata

Well, that’s the thing. Remember your first visit to… you know… the “other” school?

  • Saraneth

I actually started playing the fan translation a month before the localization rumors. Not that I have a PSP anyway but I would have bought one…
