Choose Your Ideal RPG Class… For A Date?

By Spencer . August 11, 2011 . 3:30pm

image5pb and Lucian Bee’s developer Rejet announced a new woman’s romance game titled Beyond the Future: Fix the Time Arrows. What’s interesting about this title is it’s set in a stereotypical fantasy world with magic, knights, and fairies.

As Lilith, a naive and gentle apprentice priest, you decide how the adventure unfolds. Kamus, Lilith’s fairy friend, is said to be only a little less innocent than the main character. She’s an elementalist or geomancer.

From left to right, we have the potential love interests. Nate is a thief and a werewolf. Nayuta is a devout temple knight with a serious personality. Kirite is a warrior who always stays at Lilith’s side. He isn’t good at showing his emotions, but he’s skilled with a sword. Thor (no relation to Valhalla) is a battle master and a ruffian without manners. Niko is a mage with a way for words and a thirst for knowledge. A knight, mage, thief, monk, and warrior? That’s your basic RPG party, remade for a romance game.

Oh Jesus, Thor and Niko are like they took a sexy girl design and turned it male.

    • puchinri

And it worked wonderfully for them~.
(But since this is from Japan, it’s probably more the case that they just flipped through one of the magazines aimed at girls featuring some very handsome/pretty boys and went from there.)

Aw,  I thought we would chase girls not dudes xD
But the concept is really interesting, I wouldn’t mind playing this.

  • http://tristsantithesis.tumblr.com/ Tsunayoshi Sawada

Red haired one and the one beside him are the best designs.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_O6IKTWFCSJLYCYPWEIVJYUVJZY NocturnalKami

    ahem…
    WANT!!
That is all, thank you :) *bows*

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

When I read the title, I already made an answer for myself. Then after finding it was for an otome game… I now feel embarrassed.

  • amagidyne

Saw the pictures and got intrigued about possible yuri routes, then I read the article.

    =(

Interesting.. might check this out (as well as the Musketeers game that came out last month) whenever I get money.

Nayuta.. I already know I’m gonna choose you.. darn you weakness to glasses wearing bishounen. D:

  • Crimson_Cloud

Haha, yeah I would have preferred if it was a Yuri-based game as well, but something had to be left for female gamers and the ones who are into this sort of thing. I still have awkward feelings when I remember playing as a female in P3P…

  • haqua

I’ll take Nate. Thankyougoodbye /thief love
    But, PS3? Hopefully this’ll make up for the lack of Elkrone… ;_;

  • XxDestinyXx

I cannot choose! I am leaning towards Nayuta because he kind of reminds me of
    Uryū Ishida from Bleach. ^__^

There are so many Japanese games I am praying make it to the US. This one being on the PS3 holds some hope, unlike the many Japanese PSP games I will probably never see. :(

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Aunna-Terrell/100001267508146 Aunna Terrell

I totally understand you there.. I recently found tons of reviews for Musketeer le Sang Des Chevaliers, where you play a female d’Artagnan who goes to a school to find clues to why her father was killed and try to seek revenge on the demon who killed him. All the reviews I’ve read are mostly positive and the character designs (same artist as Death Connection and the Kanuchi games) are pretty awesome (imo). http://www.otomate.jp/musketeer/
But knowing the US, it’ll take awhile before someone might look at it or even think about asking for it. XD I guess importing, whenever I ever get a chance to, will be my only option for it. Especially since it’s a PSP game.

      • puchinri

        I now have another game I want. ;u;
Those character designs are quite awesome~.
(And doesn’t that older character look a bit like Dracula from Castlevania? Now I’m hoping that he’s romanceable, lol.)

        • Göran Isacson

He is, in fact. I found a spoiler-iffic review of the game, over here:
          http://sandeian.wordpress.com/2011/08/07/otome-game-review-musketeer/
Which essentially talks about every route and what happens. SPOILER ALERT: old dude is romanceable but can ~magically~ turn into a younger form so the players don’t have to feel dirty about making out with a guy in his fifties.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Aunna-Terrell/100001267508146 Aunna Terrell

I love that review. XDD Her Porthos description is hilarious. XD I LOVE the “Porthos is the TSUNDERE SHOUNEN kinda guy; he’s outgoing, has tons of GUY friends and is pro at sports
but then he acts like a 10 year old around girls and is all ‘EW COOTIES’
abt em lol.” line.. as well as the “he turns out to be a giant HENTAI VIRGIN DORK xD” line. That’s actually the first review I read about it. XD Then went searching around for more.

          • puchinri

Oh my goodness, you just made my day. Thank you for that information and that link. Okay, no matter what, I must play this game now.

And is it bad that I won’t feel dirt about my character making out with a dude in his fifties…?

…And that review is just hilarious and awesome. x’D

  • shy_mel

Even if the love interest aren’t exactly my cup of tea, I’m glad 5pb is making this sort of game.  Yay for diversity.

  • JustaGenericUser

Hey, this looks mighty interesting, I’mma take a look and se–

    - They’re guys not girls
    - It’s an otome game

    articleIamdisappoint.jpg

    • puchinri

Lol, the first sentence says women’s romance.
(Sorry I don’t have an ‘Iamexcite’ gif/macro to accompany your’s for my end~.)

(Besides, we could totally do for more otome games.)

  • IceRomancer

Niko looks cool from the waist up, the rest of him…no.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Aunna-Terrell/100001267508146 Aunna Terrell

      lol, agreed. XD

    • puchinri

He kind of makes me think of Julius from HM. I like his look, and even envy that he wears it so well, but I’m just not sure I can accept it entirely. (Not that it stops me from enjoying it still anyway.)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Rudy-Soto/100001518601121 Rudy Soto

Doesn’t Niko look like a more camp looking Gyro?

  • Rarutos

Do want! It’s on PS3 too so many there’s more of a chance for localization!

Nayuta would be my choice based on design. Dat giant lance. <3

  • SerendipityX

To tell you the truth I came expecting this another game for guys and I’m so happy I was mistaken!>_< Gimme Nayuta! <3 PS3 mean localization chances are higher too.

  • Room201

Hah. One of the few times the short shorts (or skirt??) is not actually being worn by a younger guy/kid.

EDIT: But you just had to cast Kishio Daisuke for that character, right Rejet? :’D

  • http://chronotwist.deviantart.com/ JustThisOne

A werewolf AND a thief? Double whammy on occupational hazards.

    • puchinri

Isn’t one an occupation and the other is just… Well, biological or… Something? But I don’t know, I don’t care for Twilight much myself, but it among plenty of other series (new and old) have shown us that werewolves can only be a good (and incredibly) sexy thing. (As long as they’re a love interest.)

      • http://chronotwist.deviantart.com/ JustThisOne

Yeah, that’s true. But I suppose it’s a class then? xD Either way, I can imagine being a werewolf hindering the stealth aspect of being a thief. :P

        • puchinri

I would think it would a dual-sided thing. Werewolves are quite fast at least, and as a thief, your get away would be just as imperative to your being rather stealthy instealing. Then again, steal in human form, make an escape in some werewolf form?

          • http://chronotwist.deviantart.com/ JustThisOne

I like that plan. It’s a good plan. >:D But we need full moons for it to work.

          • puchinri

Ahh, good point! Hmm, maybe he has luck on this side? Or maybe the character can work some magic! (Or we can ask the Harvest Goddess! )

          • http://chronotwist.deviantart.com/ JustThisOne

We’ll steal it. Steal the moon. :D

  • atomskeater

Do want. Which NA company should I start bugging about localizing this first?

  • malek86

Can I choose to remain forever alone? That girl looks like she can take care of herself just fine.

    • puchinri

Just because she can take care of herself doesn’t mean she’s not allowed to have a love interest. Or a few or many. Heck, I’d say being competent means she deserves a harem.

  • shuratan

Otome games always seem to have excellent art that does it’s best to sway me into playing them…

  • puchinri

Rejet seems to have a lot of good (and beautiful) looking games.

There was another I’m pretty sure I saw on their site (or a related site maybe) that seemed like it might have had a similar premise. Or at least style and theme.

    I always, really want to play the Rejet games though. And now this one too. ;u;

  • http://twitter.com/shiro_shishi Fresh Prince

    …Stocking?

    I know who I’m choosing!

  • http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/21421.html?type=4 Kashell

I’d go with that red head.

  • dusk

I put on my robe and wizard hat…

  • http://twitter.com/wardenhawke Nickie

Yes, yes, yes and yes! Do you have any idea how much want I’m filled with right now?! God, please! let someone localize this game! It’s not fair that guys get Agarest with Elfs and the like to romance where is the female equivalent?! This baby, this!

    • Guest

Pretty sure there’s other examples of ADV/JRPG’s where the main character is a girl getting romanced by dudes. I can think of two for PSP but forget their name. One of them is an Anime already.

      • theworldofnoboundries

        Hakuoki bro. and that rocks

        • Guest

no I was thinking about Koei’s Harukanaru Toki no Naka de ADV/RPG series (there’s like 5 of them) for PS2/PSP/Wii and Neo Angelique Special also for PSP (which is the one with the Anime). And Fushigi Yuugi for PSP.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Aunna-Terrell/100001267508146 Aunna Terrell

Harukanaru Toki no Naka de also have an anime TV series, a movie, and an ova (or were there a few?).

  • Göran Isacson

My choices would either be Nate or Kirite. Nayuta looks pretty boring, and Thor and Niko both commit the fashion sin of showing WAY too much midriff. Boys boys boys, I don’t CARE if you have super-toned abs: you don’t wear short-shorts and open-fly pants and expect me to take you seriously. Nate on the other hand looks like he’ll be a fun guy to have around AND knows how to dress, and Kirite looks pretty enough AND well-dressed enough to let me have oversight with his “open shirt” look.

    • Guest

Yeah the guy on the far right is pretty homo. Well there’s no burly Space Marines at least

      • http://tristsantithesis.tumblr.com/ Tsunayoshi Sawada

But hes the second best one.

    • http://tristsantithesis.tumblr.com/ Tsunayoshi Sawada

I disagree, their showing one of the best parts of their character design.

  • Darkrise

I think Kirite would be a better choice out of the rest…

  • http://twitter.com/OhKeh OhKeh

I would go with the healer/monk class on a date because they can heal my broken heart after they reject me.
