Lost Gremlins Game Was A Third Person Shooter

Lost Gremlins Game Was A Third Person ShooterChildren of the ’80s, do you remember those fuzzy creatures that can’t eat after midnight or get wet? Sunsoft made Gremlins video games back when, well, Gremlins was relevant.

In the early 2000s, French developer Neko Entertainment got the Gremlins license and was working on a PlayStation 2 game. The genre is a bit surprising, their Gremlins title was a squad style third person shooter. Players could switch between Gizmo and various green monster Gremlins with the should buttons. Why do the Gremlins have guns instead of paper-clip bow and matchstick arrows? Who knows.

The game was canceled, but a few assets leaked out. Here’s Gizmo rendered for the game’s opening video.

This game needs to be resurrected immediately! I must have rented the Gremlins movies every weekend for what seemed like years.

Yessir, Gremlins and the Critters series. Good times.

Throw in a mix of levels inspired by Gremlins 1 & 2 and you got a buy from me. Playing at the Clamp Enterprises building would sound fun to me.

It’s all about Stripe though! Who wants to listen to Howie when you could be fragging as The Frank Welker.

Awesome to see an article on the lost games, however it seems that the video may not be part of the game as it was previously thought. The model used for the wireframe mogwai do not match the in-game videos or screenshots. I have recently uploaded the full PS2/Gamecube intro on Gremlins Online. Hopefully it helps get more awareness for this legendary game.
