Portal Co-Creator Making First Person Puzzler For Square Enix

By Spencer . August 26, 2011 . 12:30pm

Kim Swift, co-creator of Portal, is working with Square Enix and Dark Void developer Airtight Games on Quantum Conundrum. In this game, you play as a kid visiting his genius and eccentric inventor uncle. When you arrive you realize Professor Fitz Quadwrangle is missing and grab his Inter-Dimensional Shift device to explore the puzzle filled mansion and find him.

Activate the device and you switch to another dimension, which lets players interact with objects in a different way. The normal dimension (left) follows the laws of physics while the fluffy dimension (right) transforms objects into plush toys and turns the distinguished professor into a rabbit.

Quantum Conundrum will have other jokes hidden as Easter eggs for players to find. The fluffy dimension also makes objects ten times lighter. Players will be able to carry a safe, which may be immovable in another dimension.

Quantum Conundrum will be released as a downloadable game for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Steam in early 2012.
